QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Although Pods has started this game with a double, I forsee several dominating innings from Voldez. Need to scratch across a run here. He throws easy heat--and we've yet to see any offspeed breaking pitch. Not gonna happen. Sox are winng this game. The Chaufeur is gonna take care of business here

Thats looking more like the Sox and Pods of old. Knock em in Gucci.

Thats a start

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 06:26 AM) I REALLY wish I had time to get down and see one of his last starts. As I've said before, I was underwhelmed last year in Kanny and would really like to see how he looks now because it's tough to argue with his success. In 1-2 months he may have vaulted from somewhere around 20 on the prospect list to the bottom of the top 10. That's pretty darn impressive. I hope he makes it. That way it makes more sense for all the times I'd argue to have him higher on the prospect lists OF course I was wrong on Todd Deininger.

Verizon rocks, although its a little more expensive than cingular/tmobile/att/etc I'm really happy with it though.

Brandon McCarthy will get his first major league win tonight and the Sox are going to rip off a nice winning streak. You heard it here first

QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) I am fine with the policy, seriously, I welcome less personal attacks as long as everyone is treated the same. The only thing that is rubbing me the wrong way is the motivation behind the new player bashing policy. What you say above, along with mentioning how players don't care for certain things written say that there is more to it than just the people here. Personally, I think this is the main reason for the change, you guys disagree. fine. I've said what I wanted to say and now I'm dropping it. Thank you for your replys. Its about making it a site where we have a broad spectrum of knowledge but at the same time the members are able to talk amongst one another without getting assaulted with personal attacks. Its also about presenting a good, professional site, one that new members would be attracted to joining. This policy is going to help make the board better in so many ways. It will make this place much more like it was a year or so ago and will also make it a lot better for new members that are interested in joining the site. As owner of this site I can be the first one to say I've never had any problems ever with Sox management. In fact I deal quite often with certain members in the organization. At the same time I feel it best that there be a level of respect and the bashing of players has nothing and I mean absolutely nothing to do with how the organization looks at things and everything to do with how us members view the site. If this team was in last place, people would be talking about things the organization needs to improve in. Ie, basically bashing the job of the organization. There isn't anything wrong with that. Lets say the team is in last place, you could blame Kenny and Ozzie and whoever the heck else, but blame them for their baseball decisions. Don't say those incompetent morons should f*cking die.

If its any reason for hope, he hasn't exactly dominated AA.

Baj will be taken off the 25 man roster following the 1st game of the double header. The Sox will replace Baj with McCarthy who will start game 2. McCarthy is also slated to start September 5th's game.
-
Bmac is supposed to pitch tomorrow and than again on the 5th from what I know.

Thanks for the update

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) LOL, well nevermind then... Sorry I just hadn't seen the story yet.... In that case... Welcome Baj... Excited to see what you can do.... Give Hermy a rest.... Anyone else think Hermy might be headed to the DL to make room for BMAC? Ya, Its a feeling I've gotten, but I haven't had any luck finding any verification of it.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) BTW, I do think one of Contreras or El Duque is gone after this season. Just a hunch. From what I hear they will be. McCarthy will be the Sox 5th starter next year.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Excuse my ignorance. But, two things: 1) Does someone wanna tell me where we might get that money. 2) What about Kenny's homeboy Mr. Uribe? My guess is the Sox will have about 15 million to spend on free agents next year (thats if they resign Konerko to a deal around 10-12 million a year). If they let Konerko walk, they'll somewhere in the 20 mill range. Thats between payroll going up between 10 and 15 million and the Sox losing Frank's contract and Everett's contract. They also have to resign Garland for a few million a year more.

I'm checking for verification on Bmac. From what I hear Willie will be with the team tomorrow, thus making him eligible for the playoff roster. I don't know what exactly they are planning on for tomorrow (in terms of who starts). But they obviously have the option of calling up another pitcher instead of Willie Harris. Of course I have a feeling Hermanson will be placed on the disabled list.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Remember, it's all about respect. Respect the newbies, allow them some slack, don't call them "stupid" for not knowing things, and everything will be fine. One other point that's important to note. This "suspension" policy goes into effect from now forward. We're not on a witch hunt, and our memories are gone of all past issues with current members. Let's not kick the dead horse here. After a bit, we should lock this thread, and if anyone has questions, they should contact one of the admin staff. Kap Just want to re-iterate what Kap said here. I left this out of my original post, but members have a clean slate from here on forward.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Except when the Sox make the playoffs and 450 people join the site in 3 days. Our plan is to have this place rocking by playoff time. I think with a good sytem in place we'll be more ready for the steady growth the site will see in the future. I think to a point we weren't exactly ready for the massive explosion this place has had and because of it things we originally let slide need to be semi reeled back in. Thats not to say were going to go all crazy with rules. However, I think its pretty easy for posters to refrain from attacking another poster as well as saying totally derrogatory things about players. With those two issues aside, we can all go back to talking about the Sox and pretty much anything else. Like I say though, we are serious about curbing this issue.

We just took an agressive stance on excessive attacks of players (ie the ones that get personal) and now Soxtalk is going to continue with this stance and apply it to posting. We'd like to see Soxtalk as the #1 site for Sox discussion and to do that we want everyone to feel comfortable posting amongst each other. Lots of us have gained friendships via the site and all of us have gained tons of knowlege during our time spent on the boards. Whether you come here once a month or multiple times a day were going to do our best to continue to improve Soxtalk. The next step to doing so, in our mind, is to agressively root out personal attacks. I know we've always had a policy when it came to personal attacks, but now were going to truly enforce that policy. If you see someone make a post you think is stupid or offensive...dont' respond to it by calling them an asshole or a moron. Either disagree with them by putting together an argument for why the person is wrong, report the post (which the mods/admins will than look at) or totally ignore the post. This has nothing to do with limiting discussion, in fact, we feel it will do the opposite. When people are comfortable to post without getting slammed, we'll see better discussion and debates on the site and I think we'll see the site become the friendlier place it once was. In terms of our policy, we will be suspending posters for 7-10 days upon first offense. So please, take note of this and take a few seconds to think before you reply in a post. Obvoiusly us admins/mods won't be able to catch every personal attack, but if we catch most of them and enforce the rules the attacks should gradually dissapear. If anyone has any comments (for or against) feel free to post them in this thread (its always nice seeing feedback so we know where the varying members stand on certain issues) or if its something thats more private, feel free to PM or email any of the admins/mods.

Ya, Myrtle Beach has the Braves affiliate. Who knows, you could get lucky and Kannapolis could be in town. The season is coming to an end really quickly though. Check out milb.com and go to Myrtle Beach's web page and check out the schedule. You could also google Myrtle Beach Pelicans (I think thats there name) and go to their team webpage.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) I believe BA is traveling with the team since he may be back up in a few days, am I wrong? I heard they were thinking about doing it. It only makes sense considering he'll be able to play again with the Sox on Thursday.

Were you at the show in Carson? He's freaking awesome live.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Do we have 39 or 40 on the 40-man now? 39 still.

I'm assuming Anderson was officially removed from the 25 man roster? Or did they decide to put Crede on the DL. I've heard there is some chance Anderson will be pulled from the 25, but travel with the team, since he can play again on Thursday.
