Cleaned up this thread a bit and took care of the poster who was making personal attacks.

I had heard that Young was going to play.
-
I know Corwin Malone is going to be there and I'm trying to think of a few other names I heard but I can't think of it this second.
-
Ray isn't a bad option and he can definately produce. I don't know what I'd do with him next year though, but when it comes to things like that, I'd worry about figuring that out over the off-season (heck maybe deal him during the off-season if necessary).

If players reamined on their original teams...

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) Definitely...he has been solid for the Nats. It was tough coming up with a bullpen out of former sox draft picks...pretty sad really And I told you the Sox would do it on Sunday....once you had distanced yourself from the cell Its tough though cause the Sox have had guys in their system, I think it be interesting to base this lineup both on guys they drafted and guys they have developed. -
Reese, Worrell and Gray out for the year
Chisoxfn replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Ouch...those are some losses. Reese was a decent looking backup and Worrel was a solid special teamer while Gray was what I'd call a solid player that good lay the lumber. -

Gary Majewski could fit into the bullpen. -
I'm wondering...is someone just photoshopping these?

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) Josh Paul :puke BTW is he still with the cubs organization? He's been with the Angels for two years now (this is his 2nd season). He's rarely used but has been a mainstay on the major league roster. -
First he's gotta sign on the dotted line.

Twice when I was too young to remember. I was born in Newport, lived in one place till my folks moved to a little bigger place. Than they bought a house when I was about 4 and I lived there till I was 13 or so (its the place I grew up in). When my folks got divorced they sold the place and I've moved a pretty good amount since. My mom has moved 4 times while my dad has moved 6 times. The good news is I haven't moved in few years (I've turned into a total pro though), but my dad told me he's putting the house up for sale in a few weeks (he'd been hinting at it for a while). So 10 times since I was 13 (but its kind of cheating cause my parents are apart...and I've lived in the same city for 18 years of my life).

Rotoworld predicts sox to sign Jarrod Washburn
Chisoxfn replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If hypotheically I dealt Contreras to the Dbacks for Tracy (a deal I think they'd think about, with them eating the entire contract). Than I'd sign AJ Burnett and would than deal El Duque to a team to open up a spot for Brandon McCarthy. Payroll wise the rotation stays about the same, but I like a rotation of Buehrle/Garland/Garcia/Burnett/Bmac more. Offensively you get yourself a player who I believe is better than Carl Everett (plus he's a legit lefty hitter) that can also spell Crede and Konerko. Than the club can trade for Carlos Delgado and let Konerko walk. Deal Brian Anderson and maybe one more prospect for him (I think the Marlins are going to have to deal him this off-season cause he's going to be making a ridiculous amount of money). Insert Chad Tracy to replace Everett and Delgado to replace Konerko. Financially once again payroll stays the same and the team has agreed two pretty damn good left handed bats. The club now has the payroll jump to do whatever it wants at SS and 3rd base (basically my guess is 10-15 million and by the time you give Garland his raise it will be more like 10 million). Now if the math sounds a little funny: Contreras (7 mill or so)....Burnett (11-12 mill or 4-5 mill more, which is what Duque makes who also gets dealt and McCarthy makes league minimum so between the two the payroll is basically 12 million). Konerko makes 8 or so million...Delgado will get about 13, which is a 5 mill difference. Chad Tracy gets minimum while Everett makes 4.5 mill so you roughly break even there again. The Sox than buyout Thomas contract which saves you another 5 mill (after the buyout) which goes to Garland's raise, which is basically the only thing left. The club now basically stands at 75 mill (which is where I think payroll currently is) with all the new moves (ie Delgado/Burnett/etc). Ken Williams now has, depending on the 2006 payroll, 10-15 million to give to free agents or to use on a player acquired via trade. End pipe dream though cause that would be a whole lot of moves for a team making the playoffs. However, I think that would make for one hell of a team. Don't ask me how to spend the other money, but I'd probably spend half of it on a ss or 3rd baseman and the other half on a guy like Billy Wagner. -
Get over it people. Its not like Soxtalk was the only place discussing this rumor. Sure it was one of the places it originated (but their was at least some smoke to this and who knows, something may still happen...I guess we'll see). However, I don't like it when respectable posters say something trying to pass us information and get burned. They aren't Bruce Levine (Who people love to rip because he gives us rumors that don't come true...doesn't mean that the stuff he hears isn't true either). I love the fact that people are willing to share stuff with us here and ripping people for doing that just isn't cool in my book.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) He stole 66 Bases in 6 years in the minors. He stole 34 bases in 3 years in the majors. He stole 22 bases for the Sox in '98 and stole 24 for Bellington in '96. Mike Caruso WAS fast. What's your point? He was faster than fast. Caruso was a really fast player.

I'll be there to hopefully cheer on a Sox winner -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) You have a couple of top prospects lying around your house? Sure, Caruso does his dry-cleaning and Barcelo picks up around the house

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) If you look at the transaction logs there are listings for players clearing waivers & being re-assigned to the minors in the month of August. Griffey clearing isn't in any transaction log. This is a different type of waivers, they let the players clear through and than they are available for trade. Its only documented on the major league waiver wire which goes to all the teams and the major league offices. On a sidenote, I think Colorado was the worse or one of the 2 worse teams last season when they made the trade so they didn't need guys to pass through waivers (most likely).

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) Reason to hope: Aug, 2004 STL acquires Larry Walker from COL for mler pitcher Jason Burch & 2 PTBNL (turned out to be two more pitchers). Money wise the 37 yr old Walker was owed $4M in 2004, $12.5M in 2005, & a $15M option/$1M buyout in 2006. COL picked up $7.5M. Leaving STL on the hook for $10M. If STL was willing to take on $10M for a year & 2 mo's of Walker's services the CWS should be willing to take on $23.5M for 3 years & 1 mo of Griffey Jr's services. I don't think any one would suggest that Griffey Jr is worth any less than Walker was at that time. As for the 3 pitchers involved none of them are listed on COL's ML roster this year. So far the trade's been one sided. If IIRC, a PTBNL can not be a player on the 40 man roster?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) 400 dollars is pretty steep, regardless of the package. I know Sony and Nintendo are going to have smaller pricetags than that. Its always bad to come out with your stuff first. Gates has to start realizing the difference in Game Consoles and PCs. People need PCs for work, organization, etc. therefore the pricetags he slaps on his software is somewhat justified. But Gaming Consoles are pure entertainment, and on top of that they are cheaper within a year and out of date in 2 years. Sony is supposed to be at a minimum of 500 and I've heard some people say it could be higher.

Very interesting. Could Andy Pettite be the old time pitcher and not Roger? It will be interesting to see what happens thats for sure. For those that aren't familiar with Spataro he used to run a White Sox site way back in the day before SoxNet was ever around. Good to see ya back around these parts
