  1. Spending 50 million on a draft pick isn't always a great thing. I'd still be a fan of trading down because quite frankly I rarely think its worth drafting a guy #1 overall or really anywhere in the top 5 because you give way them way too much money and tie up the cap thanks to the whopping signing bonuses they get.
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) I guess you've missed Joe's gold glove defense this yr, and the fact that there are few guys for 3b out there to replace him. A three yr deal along the lines of Arow and Uribe isn't out of the question for Crede. The way Ozzie has been gushing all yr about Joe, it's safe to say Crede should stick around for a while Crede will sign an extension or at the very least go to arbitration. I could see him getting like a 3yr 12 mill deal though.

    Weird?

QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) Jeez, i got my balls busted the other day by my buddies cause I bought Season 1 of the Thundercats...Uhh, is that weird? I can't be the only one on the board who bought the DVD set, can I I never bought it...but can I Get a Thundercats....HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Lol, thats cause we all know I'm a huge Haigwood fan. I think him and Rodriguez stand at simliar points and both would be my sleeper picks as well. Hell, I have so many it would be a new pick every day. Also, I think you'll see Donny Lucy produce. Not too shabby. Rodriguez hasn't been as consistent as I like, but I've noticed him making some strides as of late. Haig has been awesome and Lucy has been a lot better this year.
  5. The problem is, its awful tough to get a guy in and teach him the offense this quickly. However, I've always been a Patrick Ramsey supporter and I wouldn't mind the move. Although I do have some confidence in Hutchinson managing the offense in a sense. He's going to have to work on getting rid of the ball quicker though. Still he has a very strong arm and in the preseason has looked very crisp and accurate. So if the Bears are going to get a QB, they better do it fast so they can get some preseason games in first and kind of get the system down.
  6. I can't say how sad I am. I stumbled onto chicagosports.com to read the game recap for the Sox game (had a conference all day today) and see this news. I damn near started crying. I was so excited Rex was finally going to have a healthy season. This kills me, but I do have faith in Hutch. He played well last year and has some damn good tools. Looked good in the 1st preseason game (haven't seen todays) and well if the defense steps up and the rest of the offense picks up the pieces (plus I Think Turner will better protect the vulnerable qb's) than the Bears may be alright, but I don't know well they could do and they could very well tank the season and just suck (but I can't see that happening, the defense is going to win them some games). As far as backups, I'm comfortable with Hutch and quite frankly we may see Orton but it won't be until the Bears are out of the playoff race (if that happens) or if Hutch sucks or if he gets hurt.
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) You know, I love that prom tux/tie a little more each day. I like how the gun looks bigger than you Alex

    WOOOOHOOOOOOO!

Congrats Chisoxy. Some of the sounds like my Anthro class I took on the history of modern language (the lexicon aspects at least). Heck of an accomplishment and you've definately earned a nice celebration
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) The Aussie; Speaking of which, how did the pictures from when you were in the states turn out?
  10. Purely badass. I have on my laptop the white Hermy one that deploder made and on my desktop the black one with Hermy.

  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) For knightni and Kalapse... Best piece of work thus far Soxfan. Thats really sharp. Sometimes less is more and this is definately the case with this sig.
  13. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) where's my prada bag? To the left of your gucci glasses
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 07:57 PM) You can only hope to contain him.... I'm still waiting for his power to come. In a couple years when he looks (physically) less like Alfonso Soriano and more like Torii Hunter, he's going to be a beast.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) Who is Steff having fired this time?
  16. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 06:10 PM) Me too. I thought after the first 2 years I could just cruise which was the exact opposite. Junior year is an outlier in my GPA. Ya, I got lucky, I had real strong SAT scores and shockingly (well to those that give me crap for my grammar and spelling) I wrote a really strong essay (GPA wasn't that bad though, like 3.2) so I got into every school but one I applied to (the one I didn't get into was one my mom kept telling me to apply to so finally I just said fine just to make her happy). But I was a total lazy ass in high school with the belief I'd turn it on when I started taking classes that interested me. The only thing I cared about in high school when it came to school was getting good enough grades to get into a decent college.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Good luck Jas! Keep us up on where you end up. Oh trust me, if I get out to Chicago...Sox tix on me the first time I'm out there

    Colleges

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) I actually committed the unforgiveable sin of committing to a college that I'd never visted (in a state I'd never visited). My parents thought I was nuts, but it turned out well. I did the same. I went to my freshmen orientation and was like ahhh so this is where Fullerton is (kind of pathetic, its only 20 minutes from my place and I'd never been).
  19. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) Congrats, just wondering, what year in college are you in? This will be my final year coming up. Its my 5th year, but I'm doubling in finance and accounting. By the way, thanks for the kind words everyone
  20. Awesome news Mike. I know you guys have been looking hard and I'm happy you guys were able to find a place you like. All the best to you and once again congrats!!!!
  21. QUOTE(MnSoxFan @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Heck with the best arms stuff, I want the best pitcher. Wood has a great arm, Buehrle is a great pitcher, who do you want? Give me Haigwood over a guy like Lumsden 8 times out of 10. I tend to think Lummy is also a good pitcher. I don't consider him a thrower, but a pitcher. Problem is its really hard to say considering his health issues. However, I'm with you 100%, I'm a fan of pitchers as opposed to throwers, although its nice when you get a combination of both (which is what Jenks is starting to look like). I'm excited about the progress Haig is making and I'm glad he's going to get quite a few more starts in Bham this year so if he does make the jump to AAA at the start of next season he won't be as rushed as Bmac was.
  22. I went to lunch around 12:30 and had some mexican food (awesome beef burrito). What made it best was got to the place, sit down and look up and see the Sox game on entering the bottom of the 9th tied at 1. Then my buddy from work shows up and sits down (he's a huge Yankee fan) and how sweet it was to see him squirm and argue with me how Uribe was out at the plate. Than he kept telling me how the Yanks were gonna make the playoffs and I laughed. It was great. Than went back to work for like an hour and a half, and the day was over (had two exit interviews for work and was able to leave and they let me book it as a full 8hr day).
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Thought you were looking into firms in Chicago Jason..? Ya, this firm was founded in Chicago so I have that option (they have locations throughout the US as well as international officies). I talked to them about it and they basically said if your ever interested in trasnferring there they are more than willing to accomadate for me. So I think next week I'm gonna take out the real estate section of the paper (I'm assuming theres on in the trib/suntimes) and start looking hard and thinking these next couple months. Right now I'm split on staying here versus moving away. The two things that kill me is moving away from my friends and family as well as surviving the winter. As long as I could take a train during the winter (and drive as little as possible) I think I could survive
  24. Just had to sound off. I got one more year of being a part time worker now. The internship was an awesome experience and I got an offer extended today to join the company as an associate when I graduate. Anyway I hope others who had internships (I think I remember seeing a few posts earlier in the year) enjoyed theres as much as I enjoyed mine. And for those few people I saw interested in accounting, if you ever got any questions feel free to drop me a PM (I can semi explain some of the stuff and the different fields you can go into with a CPA and all that good stuff). I also have learned what exactly an auditor at a public accounting firm doesr (thats what I've been doing the past couple months).
  25. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Junior year sucks. Enjoy. Ya, my grades went to hell that year...classes got tougher and I got lazier.
