  1. Remember, he came to the Brewers about this, which leads you to think or at least hope he has other plans in mind. I know I have many ideas in my mind from where he can go from here. And most of them seem like they'll really have this team better prepared to win now and over the long haul. I think he could of gotten a little more, but assuming he spends the money, I think we may see Kenny up for an executive of the year award. He's overhauling this team to be very balanced. Speed, power, still some offense, and a fantastic pitching staff. But the last part is a wait and see. I do think they need to fill the hole behind the plate and in the rotation. Those two must be filled, imo. I'm not too concerned about Willie although Polanco or Castillo or someone else would really look nice.
  2. Who said he expects 16 mill a year? (your referring to Delgado right???) I thought he'd get something between 6-8 mill a year.
  3. He's the only one worthwhile, imo. Unless they go the trade route. Toby Hall is one that comes to mind but he's not what I'd consider a clear cut upgrade.
  4. And the Sox have 10 mill free, which means if its 15 your at 80 mill payroll. But if they negotiate down somehow or backend a deal or two, thats another story. Or like I said move Everett for someone who has a little bit of a contract. You save two mill or so.
  5. How do the prospects get the Sox a first baseman. I think you can get Choi from LA or Nick Johnson from Washington, but that doesn't give you a middle of the order bat and thats what the Sox would lack. I'd probably use Rowand in the 3 hole, Frank in the 4 hole and Dye in the 5 hole and then go to Gload or whomever the first baseman was. Then you get Crede, Uribe, etc. If Frank wasn't coming off an injury and if Rowand had one more year where he had proven himself I'd be a lot more open to that idea. I mean if they can find a way to stick Huff at 1st, fine by me, lol. But if they did get Perez and some valuable playrers it could make some sense.
  6. Konerko is due to make 9 mill. Castillo signed a 3 yr 15.5 mill deal with a vesting option for the 4th year due on plate appearances which would up the payroll to 21.5 million. I can't find the specifics, but I'm going to assume he makes 5.5 million. So the deal would save the Sox 3.5 million. That would, under a 75 mill payroll, give the White Sox 12.5 million (give or take a mill) to get a starting pitcher, decide on a first baseman, and fill the catchers void. You figure you can get Odalis Perez at 6 mill (maybe even 5.75), Pyrz at 4 mill. That gives you 10 million taken up, and 2.5 million left. I don't think that gets you the power hitting first baseman you would necessarily want. It would get you Gibbons, but definately not Delgado. I just think they'd need that one big bat. But I would like that top of the order.
  7. A top of the order of Castillo/Pos would have a boatload of speed plus it moves Arow down in the lineup. Sox save a little cash, but they'd need to pick up a power bat for the middle of the lineup, imo. That deal isn't fair (Konerko for Castillo) but if the Sox got a good prospect or something else then it would make some sense. Sox would still need to find a starting pitcher, power hitting first baseman (I guess it could be Gload) and then Pyrz.
  8. I tend to agree. They could easily put together those 3 guys with a payroll between 76-80 million. IF they could find a way to move Everett for maybe a mill or two in savings they could work it out too.
  9. Couldn't agree more. Kenny's quotes on defense specifically mentioned the upgrade of Pos' range in LF. I do agree, we'll see some really good range in LF and Lee never had anything but a below average arm (was better this season then any other season though) so its not like there is a loss there.
  10. The city. I just remember like an ESPN piece or something and I thought Delgado said he hated Chicago or something like that. Could be wrong though. I do think he'd be an amazing offensive acquisition. Average, MONSTER POWER, OBP, left handed bat. I will stick to saying I have no problem playing Gload, but with all the other moves made I just don't know if there is a starting spot for him. If they dealt Konerko I'd think they'd need to pick up a power bat. I would DH him just as much as I would Everett, unless Everett came to camp in amazing shape. Gload was fabulous last season for the Sox. Did everything they asked him to do.
  11. This was me assuming. But I remember the LA radio stations saying he wasn't interested in coming to LA cause they were rumored to potentially pick him. I don't think talks ever got too serious. (between LA and Tor)
  12. Josh, were seeing eye to eye on this. If the Sox found a way to get those three (SP being Perez or Clement)...damn would I be happy.
  13. I'd like to see Pyrz, Perez and a non-tendered infielder or Polanco. Don't think that will happen unless the Sox free up some more payroll in another deal. I think catcher is a bigger void then infield now so given the choice Perez and Pyrz.
  14. Ya, I like Rogers as a writer, but it seems like everyone is kind of out of the loop in terms of who they are targeting. Seems like Kenny's under the radar thing is working thus far. Hell, if the Sox win a world series, maybe we should rename the site to www.undertheradar.com
  15. I don't think that was the case. It was that he didn't want to go anywhere at the break. He didn't want to move one place for a few months and then have to move again. Thus moving twice in a short period. This time its just once. Although if I recall, he's not much of a fan of the city of Chicago.
  16. With things the way they are I think Garland should stick around. I'm a big Garland fan and still hold hope of him turning things around.
  17. If the Angels have pitchers locked up by then, then yes, I see them potentially getting rid of them. However, If I were them, I'd try and shop Wash and get a little something for him. I do think he's going to get overpaid in arbitration and the Angels could be better off exploring other avenues. At the same time Washburn could be a solid piece to offer up in a RJ deal. And now that the Sox have this type of money I really have little interest in Washburn. I'm not a fan of his anymore. Two years ago or even last year I liked him thought he could turn the corner, but I think he's a 4.5 ERA type of guy. Not bad, but nothing good.
  18. If Konerko starts the season hot I could see the Sox locking him up, especially if they have plans of potentially moving Thomas. Konerko is a leader and a good guy. I have no problem dealing him either, but he is a very quality guy. I'm hoping he turns into a Jim Thome like masher from the right side of the plate (minus all the strikeouts).
  19. Ya I don't have a problem with Clement. I do have a problem with Milton at anymore then 4 million. Which means if I were a GM he'd never play for my team, lol.
  20. True, but I've been accurate in other areas, lol. But I wish I woudl of been right about Johnson
  21. I think Frank will renegotiate next offseason.
  22. I would if they went out and picked up a FA shortstop. But the Sox won't do that. Otherwise I'd be more then happy with that move.
  23. Also had like the highest flyball ratio in baseball this past season. I'd yack if they got Milton.
  24. Here's a little analysis from me. Hearing him constantly mention Scho's name or another pitcher makes me almost think the Sox have a move coming up. Think about it, if Scho is an option its going to have to happen quickly cause the Sox will have to offer him arb or a contract by mid December. Otherwise he isn't going to be an option. I don't think Scho is back and I think Kenny already is fairly confident that he has another move coming, in fact, he may just have a few more moves coming. Its still quite early in the offseason and if he addresses one or two areas then he can go back to improving the club to whatever his vision is.
  25. Just going to throw something out there. Says he's trying to fly under the radar. Kenny has some talks and drums up some interest in Clement (from the Sox) and then slides in and gets Perez while most of the teams worry over Clement. Just a possibility. On a sidenote I think the Sox may have another move in store tomorrow and I expect one to happen by the end of the work week.
