  1. Howard isn't worth giving up Garland for. Howard isn't all that much different then Garcia. Howard just had more time in the minors. I don't think Howard is this given to be a god. For all we know he's in the Julio Zuletta mold (he always produced with the Cubs in the minors...now he's somewhere in Japan). I don't give up good prospects or players for 26 year old first baseman that are still in the minors. Plus why do it when there is a similar player out there. Now I'm not saying Garcia is better then Howard, but its not like Howard is anymore proven (in a sense) so why give up something good when you can get a guy for cash??????? I do think it could bring a little validity in PK being potentially dealt. But at the same time you don't sign a minor leaguer to replace a guy of Konerko's caliber. He could platoon with Gload though, I guess. I think its also a signing that would really help relations with Charlotte. He'd mash with the Knights. Plus the Sox have Rogo and well Rogo down in the minors when it comes to 1st base prospects and he's now out in the outfield.
  2. I still say Kenny said that to throw others of his track completely. I think he may be targeting Perez. I also think the rumors of 4yr 40 are way out of proportion and that he still could potentially be had at 8 mill a year, especially to the Sox, cause he wants to stay in Chicago. Him and Perez are both the type of pitchers I'd like on the southside.
  3. Couldn't agree more. The question is what would it take to get him. I could see Konerko/Garland for Castillo/Burnett like someone else suggested. Seems like a fair deal for both sides. It also gives the Sox just a little more wiggle room (only in the neihborhood of 2 mill more) but thats enough for them to sign a starter, land Pyrz and then maybe go out and pick up a young starting first baseman for prospects (Nick Johnson, Hee Sep Choi) who will compete with Gloadie. I know one thing: Garcia Buehrle Burnett Perez Contreras Thats a rotation I LOVE. If Burnett is healthy the Sox got their ace. The bullpen should be good. The defense will be good and the top of the order is solved with Rowand moving into the middle portion of the lineup. You do put a major risk on your power, but at the same time team speed improves. I have my questions as to whether the Sox want to have a lineup without any major bats, but I do think they'd still have guys more then capable of hitting in this lineup, the main question is whether they would come through and live up to the ability.
  4. Garcia has a lot of power. I remember hearing the tribe announcers rave about this guys power potential. He really had a miserable 2003 with the Indians.
  5. I do like the Garland/Konerko suggestion for Castillo and Burnett. However, Delgado is out of the Sox range, so they would have to find a first baseman to target or go with Gload. I will say this, Burnett is a hell of a pitcher, although I'd look for Perez over Clement and sign Pyrzinski as well. That give the Sox a hell of a rotation though, with Contreras as a 5 and they'd have a very good 1-2 punch at the top of the order. The middle part of the order wouldn't be as pretty as some would like though.
  6. Since you watch him a lot, what do you think of him? Is he a good pickup or do you think he's overrated and if so, why?
  7. I think he did it, but our legal system isn't about thinking, its about knowing.
  8. Nah, they just wanted to show the other jurors the dead bodies to bring up emotions so they could get the death penalty verdict. They being the more outspoken jurors.
  9. I'm as shocked as you are. Between this, Pavano, and Varitek I've been way off on some of my bolder predictions. Did you hear the jurors quotes, specifically that red hair ladies? Jesus, all they were talking about was there feelings. Thats the problem with the legal system today, its not the law that settles the case its the 12 jurors and what there opinions are. Thats not how it should be and Garagos is one of the s***tiest attorneys I've seen in a long time. He didn't even come close in a case that he should of had at least a decent shot at winning. He's going to get a new attorney, and a new trial though based on the way two jurors were kicked out during deliberation. Coincidentally the two that would of kept that jury hung. I'll say it again, the evidence isn't there for this. Talk about hwo he had an affair and that he's an asshole, but it doens't mean he murdered his wife.
  10. This was him assuming. Based on his tone he wasn't told anything. Said I assume I'm playing right but haven't talked to the Sox. Kenny's quotes on ESPN radio early tonight (the national one) specifically mentioned SPod in left. However, he did act as if he had been told some names and sounds like the Sox could have another move up there sleeve. A non pitching related one. They better have a pitcher related one coming, lol. But I don't think you can put much stock into this, I think he's probably heard some names or even more likely the ideas Kenny has in terms of what he'd like to accomplish this offseason, thats about it.
  11. I responded to that email right Chris? I finally got it to work but it just distorted it. Looked cool though minus the distortions. As far asn idea. I'm thinking have a picture of Pos stealing a base, Vizcaino throwing, maybe Hermy and Dye if possible still and then some type of Stealth Mode (thats still got to be an ongoing theme, lol) written over a radar (with a blip in the radar of Perez, Clement...just the names). DOn't ask me if its possible or if its good, I'm horrible when it comes to being creative.
  12. - Said Arizona, Texas, Chicago and I think New York Mets (zoned out on the last one) were interested. Said Kenny had talked to him over the long hall and he wanted to be there. - Liked the Sox philosphy, said he knew Ozzie and says Chicago wants the guys to play hard and thats the type of baseball they want to play. Dye said the team wants to get better defensively. Then went on to say along with.....a few others they may bring in. - Todd Wright said he thought Pos (by the way from now on I'm calling him Spod cause I don't want to call him Pos, could be a bad omen for piece of s***, lol) was going to play CF and then Jermaine said as of now he was going to be playing right field. Said Rowand has good speed and is a good outfielder but isn't sure of there plans. Says maybe he'll play in left field. - Then talked about Beane being against stolen bases. Dye likes the idea of stolen bases though. His theory is that there is a time and a place but as long as you have speed at the top of the lineup you'll score runs. Then talks about his days in KC where he had Johnny Damon and Ray Sanchez and they had 5 guys with 100 RBI's. - Ask him why the A's never won in October. Thinks maybe the pitchers wore down since the A's put so much pressure on them over the regular season. - Says Chicago is one of his favorite cities. He looked at the starting lineup on paper and there pitching and in his mind starting and defense wins and he says there is no doubt they'll be in every game.
  13. They should find a way to televise that segment, lol.
  14. True. So I guess that pretty much washes. I think its still a little more favors the Sox. Thats soley in the argument of Thomas and Dye over not having Thomas and Maggs last time around. I still say Thomas and Dye equal if not a little better then not having Lee. Plus I think the Sox sign a starter in the next couple days. However, I don't count out them trading for a guy, especially if Clement or Perez price tags balloon.
  15. But when Arizona offered up 4yr 45 mill for Troy Glaus things obviously changed. Then you had Benson getting 7 plus long term from the Mets. I pinpoint those two moves to really hurting the FA market. That and a lot of teams have money to spend, but its not the money, its spending it right, and Washington hasn't done it, nor has Arizona. Seattle and Bmore are forcing the issue and Bmore should focus heavily on pitching or Beltran, imo. If I were Seattle, I think Beltre is a stud so that could make some sense. Wouldn't give Sexson or Delgado 10 mill. First off I wouldn't pay any first baseman in baseball 10 mill other then Thome. Second of all I don't give it to two guys coming off subpar seasons. Although Delgado has a rather proven track-record. Sexson doesn't have as much of one. And his injury forced him out of the entire season.
  16. Ozzie is saying June, but he's no the doc. Its probably not a bad guess though, you never know. Its better guessing late than early. Although I think he'll be back sooner.
  17. Two middle relievers and Freddy is healthy. And as much as I dislike Contreras he is going to have an offseason with his family here and he has good stuff. And the two setupmen make a HUGE difference. Plus the Sox are a better defensive ball club. Oh ya, did i mention the Twins lose Koskie and probably Jacque Jones. Not to mention Kubel will be out most of the year. Sox didn't have Maggs and Frank then anyway...now they'll have Frank and Dye.
  18. Thats according to Ozzie. Schneider says he's on track and should be near ready by the start of the season. So I'm thinking he's back by May 1st.
  19. Holy s***. I can't believe people are offering that much for Sexson. But Delgado is crazy. I have a bad read on this market, but I know what I think they are worth and if I were a GM I'd stay so far away from those deals. HMMMMM, Sexson or Delgado or spending another 2-3 million a year on Beltran. Jesus teams are desperate. This has been a horrible offseason with very few guys signing market values. Luckily I think the Sox made two good signings and I hope Odalis Perez is the next one.
  20. Adkins won't be on the roster, imo. He may be somewhere else though. I also doubt Valdez will be on there (I think they sign someone, but if they don't, it will be Valdez). At the same time I think the Sox will carry one more outfielder (Timo). Steve Phillips is on ESPN News right now. Don't know if this is a replay or not though.
  21. I do that sometimes. I usually show people what i want to show them or at least try. I know sometimes I get grins when I have a good hand (when someone stares at my eyes) so to offset it I'll do it every once in a while when I have crap and sometimes flat fake it. I think he's done a good job. We can read between the lines sometimes, but we have all listened to him and his comments for a long time. The rest of baseball hasn't.
  22. I agree. I think right now the Sox have a team better built to beat the Twins. And I think some more moves are still to come which really make the club better. Can't speak for the other teams in the division though. Cleveland could continue to excel or see a bump in the road and its yet to be seen who all the Tigers get.
