Who will have more wins by Jan 2?
Chisoxfn replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Mihm has actually played very good whenever he stays out of foul trouble. I thought Kobe got a lot of bulls*** calls and Hinrich played fantastic. Deng also had a good game. Once he further develops his jumper he's going to be an example star. He may not be super fast, but he has a great basketball body and is going to be a great all around player. Curry looks good at times, but I've noticed he has this new bad habit of dribbling when he gets a pass to him down in the low post. Instead of just taking the ball and jamming it down the opponents throats. Its as if he wants to be a wing player. Gordon has some nice spurts as well. Harrington seems to commit offensive fouls everytime you give him the ball ni the low post. Its lucky they don't call it everytime though. -
I guess I'm not the only person that doesn't like Adkins then. For whatever reason he just doesn't look all that good when out their. He was good during the first half (statistically) but he really went south during the 2nd half.

Does anyone make money from this site?????
Chisoxfn replied to chisox05's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Nope, the site is ad free, although their may be an add or two on ocassions depending on different situations. Its just what I consider a hobby and its awesome that it turned into what it has. So many awesome posters, great admins/mods...its just turned into an amazing site. I would of never imagined this site getting as big as it has and it just keeps growing thanks to positive word of mouth -
The Sox could realistically pick up RJ, sign Nomar to a one year 7 mill deal and then sign a veteran reliever and call it an offseason. Nomar would slide into the 2 hole. Uribe may be the super utility guy or he'd be the starting 2nd baseman. Plus he could spell Nomar. That would all keep the payroll roughly around 75 million.

At the same time with emotions high and your teammates being attacked you hvae no idea whats going on and when someone steps into your domain it appears as if its a threat adn considering all that was going on I don't see much of a problem with O'Neal stepping in. I mean Artest was getting drilled by multiple fans when he went into the stands, etc and at that point the punches he through were in defense. It was the original going into the stand act that I had the problem with. But he never hit the original fan he went up into the stands for. He hit the fan that was punching him in the side of the fan (also the guy who through the beer on him). I think its bulls*** how the NBA made an example out of these and ruined the Pacers season. Detroit walks away with nothing and while their players weren't a part of it their fans were. The funny thing is, the White Sox had that one incident and it was talked about how we have hoodlum fans and thus far I haven't heard near as much attacks on the security and stuff like that. I guess the fan didn't actually go out onto the court, but at the same time the fans were freaking nuts their. I know one thing, I will never throw an object at any player or anyone when at a game.

I think its harsh. Regardless of whether he should of thrown the punch of not (in reference to O'Neal). The guy was on the court saying s***. Thats the players domain and to me its your own fucing fault if your stupid enough to be on the court (by on I mean walk out on the court and talk and say s***) during a situation like that.

GOod catch their. I remember when Brumbaugh joined the Sox org. Plus Man Soo Lee was like the Korean home run king or something.
-
Well the Pacers season ended that night.

Whole family will be over, but I'll be watching the Bears/Cowboys game

Kipster, Happy Bday. Hope its a good one. To one of Soxtalk's original posters

Nice to know the Sox have at least contacted him. I'm sure he'd be happy to stay in Chicago if the Sox made a fair offer. Its funny how you hear all these reports of Toronto being the team interested and then he says Cleveland has been the most agressive and the team he's talked with the most. I still think Clement doesn't sign for a couple more weeks.
-
Ya, I saw it as Wallace getting mad. He didn't go into the stands, he didn't punch the fans. Take away the aftermath, and all you have is Wallace and Artest getting in a shoving match. To be honest the most I'd of given Ben Wall was 2-3 games cause I Think thats all he would of gotten had Artest not jumped into the stands afterwards.

And then you have the question of whether Randy, who has some of the money deferred, would still get the money deferred, which in a sense could be something the Sox would like and would open up some options.
-
Of course another option would be Jay Gibbons. If Gload fails at first Gibbons can slide their (plays a good first base) and if they need a RF Gibbons plays their. I really think Gibbons would be a good fit because he's versatile, hits lefthanded, has shown he can hit for a decent average when healthy, and has power. He also is a good defensive player and is still young, so he's just about to enter his prime. If he gets non-tendered the Sox should be all over him.
-
I thoguht about that and was thinking, he could always throw batting practice. I'm sure that kind of bp display would bring fans to the park early

First off welcome aboard. I think in terms of the more proven player, you'd have to look at Maggs. Up until this past season he had never had any serious injuries and he had been a very productive player. However, right now, I think you have to question his true status, especially with Boras doing everything he can to hide Magglio and prevent work outs, etc. I think potential and talent wise, JD Drew is a better player. He hits for power, average, but has an oustanding eye. He also is a little better defensively and is a lefty which the Sox could use. The flaw is Drew finally had a pretty healthy season, is it a fluke or is it a sign that his injuries are in the past.

I'd like the idea of Johnson if they dealt PK. I wonder if Munoz and a mid level would get it done. Injuries have probably hurt his trade value and if he doesn't have a spot in Montreal that will also hurt his value. Still they'd be trading a guy on the low. But I'd be all for it, as long as the Sox didn't give up too much. Him and Gload would be a nice combo, even though both are lefties. I still like Gload but I guess its semi obvious they think of him as a bench player (well if Levine is right, cause Levine continues to say thats how the Sox see him).

Want to say I locked this thread. Its not because their wasn't good baseball discussion, but I don't want the personal attacks to continue. Actions were made and I think the board will be back to normal Anyway, I am going to split off the original post so people can discuss the idea of Johnson more
-
They said he'd make between 500K and 1 million in Korea. I'm assuming he wants the shot at the majors and he's going to have to accept 500K or less and hope he can make a name for himself. This is definately about pride for him and finding out whether he can play with the best out their (on the most part). I think he'd definately be worth a minimum contract though with some incentives.

Sucks about Deininger. We all know I was a big fan of him. I wasn't the only one either, Murcie liked him when he saw him, and a couple scouts that were at one of the games last season both said they really liked his stuff. I can tell you one thing about Deininger, he wasn't released because of his stuff.
-
Thats fine, you can have your opinion that its wrong. I know RedandWhite and I both are fans of Cabrerra. I have my disagreements of whether he's worth what he's asking for, just like I think Renteria isn't worth anywhere near 10 million a year. But we discuss it, we don't just call people dips***s because we disagree with the opinion. I'm of the belief that Polanco would be a solid pickup at the right price. He's done nothing but produce at the major league level the past couple seasons and he's thought of as a leader. He was loved in St. Louis and he's loved in Philly. And as far as Nick Johnson goes. He's had a ton of health issues and thats the only thing thats prevented him from putting up big numbers. He's a left handed bat that should hit .270-.280 when healthy, probably higher, and also draws a ton of walks. He'd be a great pickup and if I recall Kenny was interested in Johnson in times past. See, I just disagreed with you, but it was in a completely respectful manner that adds to the conversation. You could very well be right, but we both have our opinions and I'm not going to bash you because of your opinion, rather I'll give my reasons why its wrong without ever resorting to an attack.
-
No, but I can already tell you some suspensions/warnings will be coming. But first I got to finish reading this thread.
-
Imo, wait till Gibbons is non-tendered. Bmore is going to add at least one more bat and Gibbons is going to be the guy that is ousted. I'm sure Baltimore will try and deal him, but when time comes he's gonna get non-tendered, imo. Gonna be a good pickup too.
