  1. Imo, Detroit doesn't have what I'd call a top notch farm system. On the other hand, Mil has a top of the line farm system now and they seem to be making great strides in the player development department.
  2. The WTO is an increidlby corrupt organization, imo. Their are so many flaws in it that I can't even begin to go into it. Once again, its an organization whose ultimate goal is a good one, but the way they enforce different things and the way certain things happen it still doesn't result in the proper outcome, imo.
  3. Bmags, I can't talk about your state specifically but I can tell you that businesses are freaking getting up and leaving California in droves because of the absolute ridiculous taxes and social programs in regards to unemployment, etc. When all these companies are running out and your creating incentives for them not to hire, then all of a sudden the gov is gonna be receiving less and less in taxes and money. I'm a big believer in free markets and that the government really had to do very little to keep things involved. Every one in a while they have to step in, but in general people will manage themselves wiseley. It failed a long time ago and certain programs were needed, but with news coverage teh way it is now (pretty much accessable to everyone), people and businesses aren't going to get away with absolutely screwing their employees, etc. Of course their are some gov programs that are needed, but why would I'd rather have someone in charge of everything thats in it for profit and minimizing costs then I would for a government which is just their to do it and quite frankly does it at a ridiculously more innefficient rate then the private sector. Consumers and Suppliers both create the demand and supply needs and in a sense both have a control of the market. Their are some industries where that doesn't happen right now, for example pharmaceutcals and I think some things need to be done to fix it. I think in due time we'll see the US enter agreements with certain other countries pharmaceutical producers to open up a bigger supply and other options for US customers which will lead to lower prices. THe key is to make sure the products coming in our safe and the FDA has always been insanely conservative when it comes to new mediciation and approving medication. Well at least compared to France and other governments who are a little more leniant and don't have quite the acceptance laws (Not saying France's medication sucks, far from it, I'm just saying prior to getting approval, the US medicines have to go through a much more strict and long term test).
  4. My problem with some of these youth voter registration rallies and let me first say I've seen plenty of them on campus, in fact I stopped by one a couple weeks back when the registration deadline was close coming (I was already registered but was interested in hearing what they were saying). Basically, at least the people I saw doing them, they were absolutely slamming Bush and saying how Kerry is gonna create this bright future. I know the other side probably does the same thing, although to be honest, on my campus I rarely see much anything republican (and i live in a notoriously Republican Region...OC is one of the highest republican areas around). I just find it bulls*** that when people are registering to vote you have the people doing this registration rallies spewing their beliefs. Just say, have you registered to vote because voting makes a difference. After you register you'll get a ballot with the issues and I advice you to read through the issues and if you got a little more time, check out the candidates websites. Or at least have an equal number of republicans to democrats doing these things. For example, if the school is holding some type of voter rally thing and you have this going on, make sure that you have an equal number of stuff. Of course this will never happen, I just think its bulls*** and so many people will believe everything they hear. I had on jackass telling our class when we were debating politics that the rich pay less then the poor in taxes. When he said this you heard all these people thinking wow, the rich need to get taxed more. Of course I calmy said thats absolutely absurd and I think everyone will agree on that. But all I'm saying is people my age are incredibly impressionable and its bulls*** that they have to be warped to stuff they can't tune out. Your in class and your teacher decides to go on a tyrade, it should be freaking mandatory that if someone else in the class wants to say something to disprove the teacher that they can. In my history classes specifically we'd always have the teacher go off on why this policy is s*** and that policy is s***. I don't mind his opinion, but clearly state this is my opinion and leave it OPEN for discussion. A couple of my buddies are going to be teachers and my word of advice was, if your going to talk politics, you got to leave everything open for discussion and if your teaching a poly sci class and your a dem or repub, then get a colleague or friend or other person whose the other side and have them discuss some things as well, so they get both sides. I know at my high school we had some politicians (local councilmen and stuff) come in and we'd get to talk to both candidates and hear stuff from both sides. Thta was nice, of cousre you can't have that happen with a big election like this, but I'd just do what I could in places where you can't tune otherwise (for example, on tv, you have the option of changing the channel, in class you can't really just get up and leave). Anyway, end rant
  5. The treaty would definately have to be modified quite a bit before the US steps in. As of now the treaty has too many flaws and it would be detrimental to agree to it, imo. However, I do like the idea behind the treaty, but some gaping holes have to be fixed before I'd ratify it.
  6. Good article on our big allies standing alongside us. Great Britian is redoplying their troops in an area where the US has been holding them. They are doing this so the US can send their troops into some other areas for attacks on the rebels in an effort to calm things down before the election. Also Japan's prime minister wouldn't back down from threats by the terrorist who say they will behead a captured soldier unless Japan withdrew its force. Personally I thought this was a good article. With all the negative stuff out their talking about how this war is a failure, yada yada yada, I figured this article showed the other side well and how some of our allies are helping us out. British Troops in Iraq Begin Redoployment
  7. You don't have to go to the clothes shop right away. Just look on the map and their should be either a disc or a yellow blurb and you can go via that. Also, you can hit start and look on the map and set a target, thats what I did so I always know where it is (It gives you this big red target). Its in the Del Los Santos district or something like that.
  8. I got an original PS2 and thus far its holidng up. Hopefully I don't hit a point where it all locks up or something. *Knock on Wood*

  10. He hires a couple less employees. For example in California a lot of companies that would hire more then 15 employees don't because then they have to pay more in a lot of employer taxes and those taxes are so expensive that it makes no sense to do so. The other thing it will do is prevent the employer from adding more employees.
  11. This game is badass, I've been playing it for a few hours now since picking it up. I ended up paying 7.33 for the game. I traded in NCAA for 25 bucks at Blockbuster and had a coupon for 20 additional bucks for any trade in game if you purhcase a new game. Best coupon Blockbuster ever had. The games really badass, I'm at the part where you do the low-rider races.
  12. For me its always opening myself up to the girl when your first going out. When I first know someone I'm insanely shy, but the more I know them the more they get to know the real me. However, right now, the hardest thing for me has to be communication because the current girl I'm going out with and I go to different schools and don't really live that close to each other. And to make it harder I'm not one of those people that enjoys talking on the phone for hours at a time.
  13. Its regarded as a leftist British paper. Its a big paper, but I wouldn't call it amazing nor would I call the New York Times amazing.
  14. Ya and worse of all the article was left in the paper for a full day. Finally after that they pulled it. I was about to post this same thing, but luckily Nuke, you had it covered Horrible article though, absolutely disgusting.
  15. Badass, Blockbuster has a 20 buck off coupon if u turn in a used video game (u also get market price for that game) so I am so picking this up tomorrow. Then its time to play for a few hours.
  16. Ringu is the Japanese Original of the Ring.
  17. I'm so freaking stoked for this game. Im ready to turn into a bum for a couple days
  18. Pretty sure Big Lebowski, but its been a while since I saw it.
  19. That was one of the best episodes ever. Then the gay guy uses the word queer and Homer is like, hey, thats our word for you people and gets all upset, lol. God, the classic simpsons episodes were so great. Too bad the glory years are over.
  20. No, the Mexican was that movie with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts (I think that was it at least???). He was in it, thats just wasn't the one I was thinking of. I thought the Mexican was alright. THe Big Lebowski was the movie I was thinking of. The name just came to me when I was typing it. Or at least I thought that was James Gandolfini.

Spiffy, your blog owned. Way better then the filth I wrote back in my older blog.
  23. Wasn't Gandolfini the hitmen in that one movie. I forget the name at the moment, but he was like a gay hitmen or something. It was a good movie.

I liked Beck's thread title and I just wrote an entry originally talking about RJ and then veering off into a tangent comparing the 1996/1997 offseason to this upcoming one. his weekend the Daily Southown reported that White Sox General Manager plans on contacting the Arizona Diamondbacks about the possibility of a deal that would send the Dbacks ace, Randy Johnson, to the South Side of Chicago. At this point this rumor has to be taken as pure speculation, although it was widely reported that the White Sox were very interested in him at the trade deadline. At the time of the deadline reports were that the Sox package would have to start at Aaron Rowand, Jon Garland, and a prospect. With one year and 16.5 million remaining on his contract, it is evident in my mind that a package along those lines would be damaging to the White Sox. There is no doubt that Randy Johnson at the top of the rotation would make their pitching staff vastly superior to anyone else in the division, but at the same time, they would be creating numerous long term holes for a one year solution. If the Sox are able and capable of adding payroll, they could target one of the A’s big three as it appears that one of Hudson, Zito, and Mulder will be on the block. The most likely to be dealt is Barry Zito, who had a down year in Oakland but has proven himself as an ace. A package to acquire Zito should also be less costly (in terms of everyday players and quality of prospects) and is also a better long term solution. The Southtown article also went on to speculate that if the price was too steep for Johnson or if he wasn’t willing to accept a trade to the South Side, that Williams would target another ace, possibly via free agency. However, like I’ve made mention on multiple occasions, at this point, while the FA market for starting pitching is strong, there are no sure-fire aces on the market. However, there are a few players with the potential to turn into aces and one aging ace (Pedro Martinez). Could this off-season have a similar fate to the 1997 off-season. An off-season in which the White Sox thought long and hard about Roger Clemens, the Red Sox ace, but in the end felt he was past his prime, as did numerous other teams, when Clemens eventually landed in Toronto. Instead the Sox opted to get a “developing” ace in Jamie Navarro and offered him what was then the fattest contract ever offered to a pitcher (in White Sox history). We all know what happened from their. Navarro literally got fat from his contract and reported to camp out of shape. Unlike one of his predecessors, Bartolo Colon, Navarro proved he was unable to pitch at that weight and turned into one of the biggest busts in the modern era of the White Sox. It ranks right their with the Todd Ritchie deal in my mind. The only bright side in Jamie Navarro was the eventual trade out of Chicago, when he and RHP John Snyder were sent to Milwaukee for Jose Valentin and Carl Eldred. Those two pieces, along with a young nucleus of hitters, and James Baldwin, helped catapult the White Sox to the 2000 division title. Could Pedro be the next Boston ace that appears to be on the downside of his career, but instead, an ace on the brink of re-inventing himself someplace else? Who knows, but is it a risk worth taking, considering the “Bosses” need for a few more able starters in New York?
  25. I dunno...5/10 limit would lead to some pretty big pots per hand. Thats too rich for my blood, lol.
