I just hope I never have to experience that :banghead

Thats a sweet pic. I think he will be in Bham by the end of July. I just hope he's there for another week and a half or so, so me, Ian, mike and Mario can see him on the road trip.
-
This isn't a serious issue, painful as hell, but he'll probaby miss a day or two and be back. He's just gotta piss them out.
-
Olivo suffered from kidney stones during spring training. I remember he was supposed to start one of the games I was at and Guillen in the press room mentioned Olivo was scratched due to the stones.

Speaking of Ben, did anyone see the clip with Garcia walking into the dugout after the 6th and him and Davis were talking. I don't know if they were mad at each other or if Ben was giving him a big time high five for a job well done. Considering Davis has caught him for a few years, I thought today would of been as good of a time as any to get Davis behind the plate.

That was the one other observation I made. He didn't throw enough fastballs, but his breaking stuff looked fantastic and if he mixes things up a little better, he'll be even better and he was way better then the 4 earned runs indicated tonight.
-
Minus the three run homer I thought he pitched outstanding. I have never watched Garcia that much so I want to see him pitch more, but based on tonight performance he has one of the nastiest hard breaking pitches I've seen in a few years. It had absolutely sharp movement and a lot of velocity that it just bore in and dominated hitters. I also loved how he would bust hitters (especially lefties) in and he really seemed to pitch. Looks to have a dynamite arm and possesses four good pitches. I'm really excited to have him on the team and I'm glad he could get the W despite giving up the 5 runs. He pitched way better then that and he seemed to go right back at hitters after making his mistakes. This guy looks like he is a frontline pitcher, more so then Colon last year or anyone else, but like I said, its one start and I want to see him pitch his ass off for the Sox for a long time to come.

The old threads don't really have an effect Jeckle. Its basically the people viewing. The old threads are just taking up space which the site has plenty of. The big thing is the large viewership the site gets (and thats a good thing ). ALso, if for whatever reason something happens tomorrow during the day and you need a board, just visit http://www.futuresox.com/forum Hopefully it won't come to that, but I want to throw it out as an option. I am going to probably ask for their to be no game thread tomorrow cause it puts the most pressure on the server. IT will be a one time only thing and everyone can meet up in the chatroom. http://www.whitesoxcentral.com/chat.html

Just want to say I called the server company and had the site turned back on. Unfortunately I have finals and stuff so I'm not even looking at the computer right now. Once those finals are done I'm going to be working on moving the site to a dediated server. This move should happen quickly, but their will be some downtime in the move, but right now its the only option because the site is getting so big. I apologize for the outage and liek I said their will be one more outage when the site switches to a semi-dedicated server. However, this server swithc will enable the site to further grow and should put an end to any type of server issues or glitches. This is just a part of being a constantly growing site and I and Kapkomet (whose gonna be a huge help in all this) are going to do what it takes to ensure the site is online 99.999% of the time. Don't worry though, when the site goes down, I will have an index page here to take you to a temporary forum located on another server (The FutureSox one) or potentially to a dedicated ip address of the new server were working on. I'm going to try my best to cause all the downtime in the middle of the night, but if the site does get shut off tomorrow at some time then it will be down until I can make the switch, which I will try and do as fast as possible. I'm going to hope that nothing happens while I'm at my finals tomorrow and that I can come back, watch the Sox game and then after that get to work, close the board down (probably for a 2 HR period) and then get the site switched over. The only flaw will be that for a few days the site will be redirected to an ip addie, but when you type in www.soxtalk.com you shouldn't have any issues, it will just take a few seconds to kick you over to the new server. After a few days (basically once I can point the DNS to the new server) then the issue will likely be over. Once again, sorry for this trouble, but I just want to inform everyone what is going on. I won't be around for the rest of the night or tomorrow, but once I'm done with school, I'll work as long as it takes to get this site switched to the new server so their isn't anymore outages of this variety.

Well Valdez is a guy that can come up and play defense as well as pinch run and what not, so he's the exact type of guy you'd see up. Borchard as well.

Grabbed this from an article in the tribune: "Guillen, who has three boys, treats his niece almost like his daughter. It might be tough for Garcia to walk away from a White Sox offer at the same time he's walking down the aisle with his manager's niece."

The Tigers turned down the Meche for Inge deal. However, if they are looking to maybe move Inge, the Mariners no longer would want him. I realize Rauch may not be the prospect Meche is, but he could potentially be swapped for Inge with a mid level prospect going along. I know one thing, I'd love Inge on the southside. He's caught a few gmaes this year and whenever he's behind the plate he shows off a fantastic arm.

The Jeremy Reed Fallout By Jason Gage June 29, 2004 FutureSox.com On Sunday the Chicago White Sox acquired the starting pitcher they desired in Freddy Garcia. However, some could argue that the price was steep. The package included top outfield prospect and last years minor league player of the year, Jeremy Reed, a good young major league catcher, Miguel Olivo, and a raw, but talented shortstop, Mike Morse. However, the volume this deal speaks is two fold. First off, it sends a message to the White Sox fans, the players and the media that the team is playing for now. The future is something they are willing to risk and it was obvious the Sox had a dire need when it came to pitching and they didn’t settle with a mediocre pitcher, they took the best one on the market. Speculation is trader Kenny isn’t done and that he has at least one more deal up his sleeve, possibly two. As a writer that typically focuses more on prospects then many people (hence FutureSox), I say fine by me (in regards to dealing prospects). While Jeremy Reed and Mike Morse will not come to fruition with the White Sox they still served the White Sox well by turning into an all star pitcher. They will also serve the Mariners well in the future. However, the future means nothing to the Sox or any other winning club, especially when it comes to a club mentioned in the same breath as the Red Sox and Cubs (other obvious winners - note the sarcasm). Now enough about the deal, which to me left the Sox a better team. This trade also sent a second, less obvious message. That message was directed straight at Joe Borchard. The message is that the organization hasn’t given up on him and in fact, they probably chose him over Jeremy Reed, at least partially. Borchard has long been remembered as the 1st round pick with the record (at the time) $5.3 million signing bonus. He has always been talked about as a player with loads of potential and showed that potential off early when he hit .295 with 27 HR and 98 RBI in 2001 for the Birmingham Barons. What is even more fascinating is that the Hoover Met is known notoriously as a pitchers park. Borchard has never approached those numbers again in the minors, but that potential still looms. However, not to sell him short, he did put up good numbers in Charlotte in 2002 (.272, 20 HR, 59 RBI) and hit his first career major league home run (in Toronto) that same year. It looked as if Borchard would be a fixture in the Sox outfield in 2003, but for whatever reason, Borchard went into a funk. He was hampered by nagging injuries and issues grew of whether he took every at bat too serious. Borchard continued to struggle all season until he caught fire right at the end. A 12 game hitting streak raised his average to .253 by the end of the season. While the average was a concern so was the power or lack there of. Borchard hit 13 home runs, which was far less than himself and management had came to expect. This season Borchard seems to be going with a fresh approach. He hit well this spring, despite minimal playing time due to a hamstring injury. Injuries like this, as well as a nagging back, bothered Borchard for the early part of the season. Borchard then came on like wildfire and is currently hitting .280 with 14 HR and 46 RBI. Another positive is that Borchard has cut his strikeout totals down. He has 55 so far this season compared with 20 walks. While thats still considered a little high, it is a major improvement. Borchard’s future in the organization once again looms bright. This is the same golden boy with the strong arm, light tower power, and good speed that the White Sox took back in 2000. This same player has now been faced with adversity on the field and seems to of stared back at it. With the possible departure of Magglio Ordonez it is quite obvious that the White Sox still see Borchard as their right fielder of the future, but it seems the window is closing and that very soon he’ll finally be that right fielder of the present.

I didn't put it in the piece, but I just want to say congrats to Bmac. He's been pitching fantastic for the Intimidators and he definately deserved this callup. Keep kicking butt Bmac

Brandon McCarthy Promoted to Winston Salem By Jason Gage June 29, 2004 FutureSox.com Brandon McCarthy, 20, will join the Sox best prospects in Winston Salem following todays South Atlantic League All Star game. McCarthy is expected to travel with the Warthogs to Virginia and will make his first start on July 4th at home against the Kingston Indians. The Indians were the best team in the Carolina league in the first half of the season. However, they are off to an 0-4 start this year. McCarthy has moved from being a sleeper prospect to a hot prospect. His final four starts in Kannapolis were fantastic. He went 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA. He compiled a whopping 36 strikeouts compared to just two walks over that span while giving up 17 hits. On the season McCarthy was 7-5 with a 3.78 ERA in 14 starts. He struck out 103 batters in 88 innings of work, walked 21, and gave up just 73 hits. McCarthy will team up with Sean Tracey to form a pretty formidable 1-2 punch in Winston Salem. Tracey has been the Warthogs ace all season, and one of their lone bright spots in the rotation. He is 4-6 with a 2.80 ERA in 14 starts. He has given up just 56 hits in 70.2 innings of work, but has struggled with control at times (38 walks). With McCarthy, Anderson, Sweeney, Lumsden, and Fields the Warthogs have the most major league upside of any minor league team in the Sox organization. However, it has yet to be seen whether all this potential will result in wins, something the Hogs didn't do enough of in the first half of the season.

OUCH...its hurts just looking at that pic.

Constant trade rumors post garcia trade
Chisoxfn replied to Whitewashed in '05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I dunno, 7.5 mill is pretty cheap for Moyer considering the numbers he puts up. Thats assuming he can go out and pitch his ass off once again next season. -
Sox just need to focus on playing ball and doing there thing. Let the Twins do what they want. They are still the frontrunners for this division and will be until the Sox have the division clinched. I've leraned one thing over the years and thats no matter what don't count out the Twins. They play good baseball and get wins and well have been the playoffs more then we have this decade.

s***, I didn't think of it that way. I think we all know I've said Fontaine is one of the best non GM's in baseball and I long thought it was a big loss when he left to team back up with Billy Bavasi. I know MOrse is talented though, its just when I saw him, he had a real awkard look to him although I saw some of that potential.

Steff 6% total is the avg. 3% to the selling agent and 3% to the buying agent. However, at least in my area a lot of people do 4% or 5% total. If its 4% then typically the listing agent will take 1.5% with the selling agnet getting 2.5%. I don't know though, it may be different in your neck of the woods. Agents don't have to do jack s*** out here to sell a house right now. Also if you end up buying a house from your listing agent, then you should get it done a lot less.
