  1. Fields just hit a 3 run bomb, and Sweeney just hit a jack. The Sweeney homer hit a light tower in right. 4-0 Hogs Bottom 1.
  2. Dan, did u happen to be listening to the Winston salem game when they talked about FutureSox.com on the broadcast. I was gonna email you when I found out but didn't have my laptop with me. Were gonna try and get Fields done at the end of the night.
  3. Checking back in. Mike and I just finished burning up in the sun getting some interviews. So far we got: Lumsden, Tracey, McCarthy, and Sweeney. Its been a lot of fun and all of the interviews were good and the players were really cool. Were hoping to get Fields, Rogowski, and Brice but the players are doing stretches right now and a little interview. You'll also get a little Blakley in the interviews. He's a real jokester. Another funny moment was Carlos Lee in the background of the McCarthy interview dancing...funny times and you can definately see the resemblence to his bigger bro. You also get a short clip of Pollock getting in his two cents in the Sweeney interview Looking forward to the game when Nik Lubisich pitches. Tomorrow we'll be in Kanny Also special thanks to all the players and the members of the Winston Salem organization

    I'm off

Will be back on the 13th of July. I'll check in every once in a while, but I'll be watching all the minor league teams with Cerb (Mike), Mr. Show (Ian), and Mario. Hope the Sox whoop some ass while I'm gone and hopefully the boards don't fall apart, if they do, blame Alex...u can never go wrong blaming him
  5. I'd s*** my pants if he was on the southside. I just hope his arm holds up for the remainder of his contract. If it does, its way worth it.
  6. Ya, they were hammered pretty much the whole game. Listened to part of it and then it got really ugly.
  7. What a shocker. I don't get mad too much, but this is horses***.
  8. This is good news at the very least. I wonder if the holdup is years, if its the deferred money or if Maggs wants that 14 mill a year to sign before testing FA.
  9. Jon Rauch Sent to Charlotte By Jason Gage July 7, 2004 FutureSox.com The Chicago White Sox activated LHP Scott Schoeneweis on Wednesday. Scott is scheduled to start in tonights game against his former team, the Anaheim Angels. To make room for Scott, the White Sox optioned Jon Rauch back to Charlotte. Rauch made one start in his most recent callup and beat the Cleveland Indians. Rauch wnet 5 innings, giving up one run on 6 hits. Rauch then moved to the bullpen when the Sox acquired Freddy Garcia, but did not appear in a game out of the pen. He has pitched very well as of late for the Knights, where he is 6-2, with a 2.30 ERA in 13 games (12 starts). He has given up just 49 hits in 70.1 innings of work while striking out 60.
  10. I can't really blame him. I love Loaiza. He's a great person and he pitches with guts, but right now he just does'nt look right. I'm also perplexed that Elo seemed to think a few years ago that Garcia somehow had an effect on what he got. Last I looked Garcia was wrapping up the ERA title a few years back and Elo was doing nothing of that (a few years back). Still, I think Elo will probably get 6 mill a year. I don't know if its in the Sox best interest to pay. However, if they lose Elo and Maggs as well as potenially Jose (I think he will stay and eventually retire a White Sox and join the coaching staff) then they will definately have some money to throw around to say the least. Hopefully they don't throw it around, but rather spend it wisely. Because of this scenario, I think there is a good shot you see the Sox very active at the deadline for some players with a few years left on their contract. I don't think the Sox like going to FA looking to sign because they are battling with other teams and the prices can really be driven up.
  11. Are the Sox really in the market for a 2nd baseman now? I figure Harris/Uribe have been doing a good job thus far and they will likely keep it up to a point. Actually I wish Harris was playing more because he's a very good player, imo.
  12. How is it KW's fault that Maggs wants Vlad type money. The White Sox have made more then fair offers. They have made offers that would pay him a little more per year then Garrent Anderson reportedly and its my opinion that Garret Anderson is the better player. This is let alone comparing him to Vladdy Guerrero who is superior to Maggs yet Maggs thinks he can get the same amount of money. Now Maggs probably can, but that doesnt' mean the Sox should necessarily offer it to him. Heck, for once KW has basically kept his mouth shut on every question asked to him about Maggs. He always says, we aren't trading him, and I'm not going to go into details about the extension.
  13. I was thinking of a mix between what DBAHo and 2k said. I want to kind of change it up every week or two weeks depending on how its done and of course depending on the turnout.
  14. Happy 21st BMAC. Hope you have a good one
  15. He's been on the disabled list. I'm not positive of the injury, but I'll ask the media guy in Winston Salem when I'm there on Thursday.
  16. I think some of that money was slotted for Maggs that went to Garcia. I think in general the Sox are going to prepare for life without Maggs and if getting a pretty marketable player in Andruw Jones and a frontline pitcher in Russ ORtiz is the wya to do it, then fine by me. Then the Sox will have Garcia and Jones next year while earlier this year it looked like they would be losing Maggs. Ortiz probably wouldn't be back, but he'll be a great addition to the club and will result in two draft picks if he doesn't resign. If the Sox are willing to add some more payroll, then I think Jones/Ortiz/Everday Eddie would be a nice trio of players to acquire.
  17. WiteSoxfan has came up with a great new idea for WSC/FutureSox. It is a panel of experts. Basically a few of us FutureSox writers will sit down and individually answer questions on a weekly or biweekly basis. It will be a way for a person to get generic quetsions answered, such as, who is the best minor leaguer in the organization, what do you think of such and such. Then each expert will give their own take. Its kind of a way to get a few peoples opinions at once. Hopefully it turns out good. I'm going ot put this up before I leave on the trip and the first one will be done when we get back. So post your questions in the thread or email them to us at [email protected]
  18. Well if you get Orlando at a discounted rate they are getting a great player because other then this year he's still very talented. Then again, maybe he is done cause he's kind of been an enigma of some sort.
  19. That goes without saying. I figure Rauch or Diaz plus Munoz or so will be a part of any deal.
  20. To add to this, here are just a few of the players wree going to try and spend some time with: Chris Young, Micah Schnurstein, Daniel Haigwood, Ryan Rodriguez, Antoin Gray, Tyler Lumsden, Josh Fields, Brandon McCarthy, Sean Tracey, Andy Gonzalez, Gary Majewski, Ryan Hankins, Ryan Sweeney. Who knows how many we'll get done but we plan on being busy before the games
  21. Jolbie is a solid player Vette. I watched him play quite a few games for the Dodgers last year and my dad (Huge Dodger fan) was furious when he was let go at the end of spring. Obviously Bavasi knew damn well that he was a quality player from his time in the Dodgers org and snatched him right up. I also want to say, you guys are some top notch fans. The discussion has all been baseball and I've been left very impressed with the fans on your site, the fans that have come here, and just the overall great baseball talk that has gone on
