The Suntimes had an article today and it seems like Kelly is going to be dealt. Also, I think Diaz has made some good pitches today. The tribe is a good offense and he has shown a nice slider and a good fastball with some movement. His control has been subpar tonight and he's really leaving his off speed stuff up and over the plate and I'm going to assume thats what happened his last start as well on the 4 homers (or however many he gave up). Still, I Wouldn't give up on him too quick. He showed at least some stones by battling and when the Sox made the errors he quickly got the next batter out. I think Diaz may surprise everyone his next outing and I personally hope he stays in the rotation. I should add that he was pitching on 3 days rest and is now over 100 pitches. However, if the Sox start working Cotts a little longer then I have no problem moving him to the rotation and letting Wunsch do his thing from the pen.

Olivo makes a snap throw to 1st and it was shorthopped to Konerko and went to the outfield. Lawton to 2nd.

IS Espn going to switch over?
-
Not if Reed keeps struggling. He's got to get healthy and on a roll first. For the time being, Harris, Uribe and JOse should be playing every single day. I'm sick of the tinkering. The lineup was pretty good last night, imo. Just swap Alomar with Olivo.

Happy Bday Mike Hope your having a good one

If Hawk said it, then its central time. Guess that means I should work out now and then come back to watch the game. Is the game going to actually get in? Also, what the hell is Willie getting dicked around for. He should be starting everyday, screw Arow and his half ass defense and no ass offense.

Great Stuff Dan. Brice will definately be up in Winston Salem very soon, imo. Brice not only can hit but he also is a very good defensive outfielder. Nanita has been plain awful and its only a matter of time until he gets demoted. I really think he is an Edgar Valera clone. Ie, a college player who put up tremendous numbers because he was going against talent the same or lower then he played in college.

I think if you go to Sony's website you'll find a place that you can send the ps2 to and they will replace it for you.

Vince, why you going to a democratic convention...go republican

Until he made one of his amazing throws. I love Frank as a player, but I'd say quite a few people on Soxtalk could out throw him and be more accurate.
-
I'm with you Dan. I really think Nanita was playing at a level below his ability in rookie ball and it showed by his inflated stats. Its what happened with Edgar Valera a year ago and I wouldn't be shocked if it was the same with Nanita, although I hope I'm wrong.

Wee Willie will be leading off and starting in center and I'm assuming Juan will be at 2nd with Jose at ss.

I like Jacque Jones a lot. I just hate the fact he's not a White Sox.

I see, someones afraid of me

Ya, Meaux doesn't get up to 80. He fits in with Wing as a 86-88 guy. I don't even think he can get higher then that and that was when he was in the bullpen. I don't know if his velocity has dropped at all since moving to the pen, but last year thats what Meaux was hitting at the all star game I saw.

Thanks for hte update. That makes sense to me. His wrist are probably still bothering him from the olympic trials. Wrist injuries tend to really linger and usually you need a full offseason to get over them, at the very least. I also hope Borchards back gets healthy cause I'm sure thats have a huge effect on his season thus far. The other thing I hope is that playing at Charlottes stadium doesn't get Reed into a flyball mode. I've noticed how good prospects go to Charlotte and then I just get miffed at what happens to them. Quite often I see their power numbers go down and it just doesn't make sense.

I think Charlotte wanted to add another lefty, just my guess.

Kohlmeirer is off the DL. He was taken off of it when Diaz was called up

I dunno, if the Sox did a Maggs for Zito and Dye type deal I'd say the A's would do it just to get rid of Dye's contract and Dye has actually played solid this year. Salarywise I don't know what it would do to the Sox, but it would be definately something worth considering. Especially if you could move Konerko or Lee for other quality players that make a little less to even out the payroll.
-
Well, I like all the names mentioned: Zito, Garcia, and Beltran Remember they are names being mentioned by us , but maybe management can find a way. And Brando, speed isn't Beltrans only asset, but it definately helps. He's a stud defensive cf, steals a ton of bases (although your right, he probably won't steal as many when he gets a bigger contract, but he is still a tremendous base runner, although ultimately if he's tied long term I still think he plays hard. He has a much improved eye and he's more then capable of hitting even better then this Brando, so I personally believe he is one of those 1000 OPS guys.
-
Here's a more generic question. Overall, if you had your choice (both making 14 mill a year long term) who would you take: Maggs or Beltran? I'd go with Beltran although stastically I think you could say Maggs has been better the past couple years. I just think Beltran is probably one of the most sound all around players in baseball, if not the most sound.
-
Well, if you go on that level. Take the Maggs for Mulder rumor and if you can somehow convine Beane to add salary, then the Sox could have Mulder or Zito and Beltran for Maggs, Lee, and Rauch. Gives you an ace pitcher and a star bat (left handed) although you lose two good bats and a prospect who doesn't have a future in our organization (he needs a change of scenery).
-
IT could also be the fact that he hasn't pitched enough, if anything. Its either he was overworked the past two years and now his arm is tired or what not (Hopefully not hurt). Or he's just not sharp because he hasn't pitched as frequently. Some pitchers arms are different then others. Marte may have one of those "rubber" type arms that needs to pitch quite often.
-
Well, on the other side, if the Sox were in contention, they could keep Beltran (according to espn he makes 9 mill this year, for some reason I thought it was 11). This means the Sox payroll increases about 2-3 million (remember they dealt Lee). Now this would be risky, holding onto two guys, Maggs and Beltran and hoping you can resign one at the end of the season and then get compensation for the other in some form. But then the SOx could use Konerko and try to move him to free up salary and maybe add a reasonable #5 pitcher. This means the Sox payroll basically stays even. If you do this move now, you give Sox fans about a month and a half to show up. If they do, then JR may be able to losen the purse strings for KW to allow him to get the extra pitcher they need. Could you imagine, Maggs, Beltran, Thomas in whatever order and then you have Jose and Crede behind that. On the other side, if even after these moves the Sox for whatever reason fall out of contention, then you unload the two of them and should get a lot in return.
-
I say if the Sox can replace Maggs with Beltran (whose a stud) then personally I'd do it. Beltran is 27 and is hitting .299 with a .395 OBP with 10 HR and 28 RBI on the season. He also has 10 stolen bases and was caught once. Heck, if the SOx could somehow do this, I'd add one of our better prospects to sweeten the deal.
