Kerry Wood left the Cub-LA game after 3 innings:
Chisoxfn replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I like wood a lot. A few people at the game tonight said they heard on the radio that it was stiffness in his tricep, but who knows. All I know is I wanted to see Wood pitch, not Glendon freaking Rush. -
I was at tonights game and boy was that a whooping. Of course I started a small steroid chant during Shamme's first AB. Other then Sammy and Alou, I don't have anything against the Cubs. Wondering what happened with Wood. Weaver pitched tremendous tonight.

The way the Sox are treating Buehrle is nothing new. Plenty of organizations have had the belief, more in the past, that the bullpen is a great way to develop starting pitchers. You can ease them in and get them comfortable and then eventually move them to the rotation. I think the Braves have done that with some of their younger pitchers and it had worked well and if I recall the Astros were very big on that a while back. I like the way the Sox are working with Cotts. He's getting put in pressure situations and on the most part has been pitching consistent. He'll get stretched out eventually, and right now he's doing a tremendous job for the Sox. He's got a very bright future.

I have full support for DW. Everything I've heard says he has an amazing work ethic and a great attitude when he gets sent to Charlotte. I think he knows he has to improve and if he's hurt I hope he can get healthy. Wright just doesn't look like he did pre injury. But I'm with Rex, you don't designate an arm like that, you keep and stick with that down in the minors and if he gets things solved he gets things solved. If he doesn't, your giving a good guy a shot.
-
Well prior to that he's also had trouble getting out of the 5th. Then again the Knights haven't been letting much any of their pitchers go deep.

I love Robin, but his days are done. Keep Gloadie, plus the Sox have Jose, Juan and Crede all capable of playing 3rd and if Burkes here you can count him in that list as well.
-
I still don't see the point in having Burke up. He hasn't produced down in Charlotte and I'm not a fan of seeing guys called up when they haven't put up good numbers. I realize he adds versatility. I could see Adkins on the way down though because he's been used so rarely as of late. Still with Diaz up you may want another guy in the pen to go in case Diaz struggles. I'll be pulling for Diaz big time. I've been a fan of his for a while.

I am going to too. Gonna be in my lab during the game

Cubsuck, you can listen to the games from charlotteknights.com and just hit the streaming audio link during the game. I've been listening to a few of them lately. Hey Rex, is their a way to listen to Barons games? I'm guessing a few of the other affiliates in the Southern League have their games on the net?

He's just being sarcastic or at least I think he is. Get him up to AAA cause he's not the type of prospect that will be promoted straight from AA to Chicago, imo. You see that with a really hyped prospect that was a top pick or really young, but rarely do you see it with older prospects. I think he's definately got major league potential though.
-
Agreed, its going to be tough finding a roster spot for him, but I think the sox will be making a trade or two pretty soon and I'd have to think Rauch or someone in the AAA group will be out. Plus Diaz will be coming up, but Burke will be coming down. I'm hoping Baj is up soon, he's been pitching so damn good.

Its a pretty common thing now adays amongst girls in high school and college. Although it seems like less girls are having sex at younger ages here. At least thats how it was when I was in high school. Heck, even in college it seems like a lot more girls are waiting then ever before.

Their were also two bench clearing brawls in the game. A good description was posted over on the FutureSox board

Wow, sounds like an interesting game. Wish somehow their could be streaming video of the minor league games. That would be so awesome

I think its my life motto, seriusly though, it had me cracking up.

At least we got Majewski out of JB. Of cousre I guess the Berry thing is what we remember

Or at least move Wright to the pen. He was clobbered in his first start with the Knights. I am a big Wright fan and everything I've ever heard about him say he's a great guy who works hard so I hope he can put it together, but he seems destine for the bullpen. Its too bad, he has solid stuff, just such an erractic delivery.

Right now I think its got to be Diaz. Munoz has only made a handful of starts in his career and I don't think it would be wise rushing him up. While I think Munoz could potentially handle it and he has a bright future, Diaz is a much safer guy to have up and has the stuff to suceed in the majors. He's also shown very good control and seems to really be learning to pitch. I like Munoz later in the year if he keeps pitching the way he does. I wouldnt' mind seeing the Sox bring him up like they did Buehrle and are now doing with Cotts.

I don't even think Reeds been hyped all that much, but Poppy is entitled to his opinion. I mean, I find it hard to believe that Reed will ever hit .340 or so at the major league level, but I do think he could hit around .315 to .320 with a good eye, not many strikeouts, 15 hr's, 20-30 stolen bases and a good amount of RBI's while playing good defense. Not hall of fame numbers, but damn good numbers either way. However, thats after a few years of developing, although Reed is one of those players that I think could come up and play pretty darn good from the get go. He just has a pure swing and a great mental approach.

I think Uribe has been getting on base extremely well. Now if you moved Konerko then I'd put Uribe in the the 6 hole with jose in the 5 hole and Lee in the 2 hole. Another alternative woul be calling up Reed, moving Harris to CF, moving Lee to 1st base, dealing Konerko for a pitcher, Jose and Juan in the middle infield. You have Harris and Reed 1 and two. Lee in the 5 hole, Jose in the 6 hole, Juan in the 7 hole, Crede in the 8 hole and Miguel in the 9 hole. Crede is the only slow guy in the lineup and all of a sudden the Sox are built for Guillens style and the only offense you lose is Paul Konerko, and you can argue how much of a loss that will be, considering how much he added to the offense last season.

Ian...Happy Birthday good buddy.

I still hear Hawk say can of corn. Usually on balls hit to Magglio. I think Hang Whiff em can also be referred to on a pitch where you have absolutely no chance, or at least my dad would always say that.

A hard hit ball that normally would be a hit, and it gets caught. Basically its when you clobber the ball but get out.
