  1. I really don't think the Dodgers have starting pitching to trade. And if they do it would be Hideo Nomo and not Odalis Perez who has arguably been their best starter.
  2. Kim may not throw all that hard, but I always remember him having a lightening quick release and batters are always behind on him. I'd take him, but the BoSox can't ask for much in return and will have to pick up his contract
  3. What...no Jason Gage For me its Jayson Stark.
  4. Well Texas and the Sox will likely be pumped up when the two teams meet.
  5. I'd be surprised if the Brewers did it too, but give them a package involving Honel and then their choice of anyone but Sweeney/Reed and see if they reject it. I'd hate to see Anderson go as well, but for a guy like Sheets, you chance it. I think Schmidt and Garcia would involve Lee and maybe a prospect.
  6. That was bulls***, Olivo was safe. No tag was made until Olivo's foot was on 2nd. Then he was off the bag but Prieto never touched him.
  7. If your reading this KW, here are some guys that should be available. Russ Ortiz probably wouldn't be available yet. I don't see the Braves giving up this early. Jason Schmidt - STUD, plain and simple and he has an affordable contract if the Sox give up a Lee or Konerko as the main piece. Only flaw to Schmidt is his arm could fall off, especially since he's had two 120 pitch counts and then followed that up with a 144 pitch count outing cause Felipe Alou is a moron. This is after Schmidt is coming off an elbow surgery over the offseason. He is better then Colon though. Freddy Garcia - Potential Stud. He's young, hasn't shown signs of injuries, and after a year and a half of hitting a funk (still wasn't all that bad) he's back on track. He was once one of the best young pitchers in the majors and he's got the shot to be one of the best starters in the league. He could be had for Lee straight up, imo, and would be a great addition. Ben Sheets - Young Gun. He's young, had an injury problem, but when healthy has been really good. He's having a great year and is whats right in Milwalkee. He'll cost an arm and a leg to get, but is very affordable and the Sox could potentially acquire him and sign him long term to a deal similar to what Buehrle got. You could then pencil him in the rotation for this year and years beyond with Garland, Buehrle, and eventually Cotts. The question is how much will it cost and will he be able to pitch well under pressure. His WHIP is a sick .98 Russ Ortiz - Solid frontline starter. He is still young, has playoff experience, and has been an ace, although he isn't truly an ace. He is a good pitcher but he walks people and that could hurt him a little more in the AL. Livan Hernandez - Solid starter. Doesn't wow you with stuff, but just flat gets it done. He's a little overpaid so you may even get the Expos to take Konerko off your hands if you give them a good prospect. Konerko and Livans salaries would wash with the Expos getting a player that could potentially help them in the future. Not a big fan of Livan's though, especially compared to the other guys on the list. Kip Wells - Good young starter. Doubt he'd be back in CHicago though and the Pirates would probably ask for a lot since he doens't have a big contract. Sheets is better then him so I'd rather see the Sox go in that direction.
  8. It be PK in a heartbeat. Lee can do a lot more things then Konerko and he isn't near the double play threat. Also, I think Lee has much more upside and while Lee's numbers aren't amazing this year, he'll get hot like he always does. If it was PK for Benson and Makoviak then maybe, but even that I don't know if I'd do. Benson has a WHIP of 1.64 which is pretty brutal and his ERA is just under 5. Put him in the AL where he doesn't have to face the pitcher and I guarantee his ERA is about 5. In closing, I don't even want to think about acquiring Benson...the guy is so over-rated and this doesn't even take into account he has an awful contract and is incredibly injury prone.
  9. Not a chance in hell. I'm not interested in Benson because he has an injury history. If the Sox are going to give up Lee, then they should look no further then Freddy Garcia and if they can try to acquire a left handed bat that could help them as well. I think if the Sox made that deal you'd see Gload play in left and Harris would play in center with Timo and Rowand getting ocassional playing time.
  10. The Sox pitching staff is probably one of the most used in the majors (starting wise) so I don't think it would be wise to put an even heavier workload on them. If I recall the bullpen has pitched by far the fewest innings in the majors. If I'm the Sox I let Cotts stretch out or decide that he should be in the pen all season with him moving to the rotation next year. If thats the case, go get Garcia pronto.
  11. This is bulls***. The Sox knew damn well that Cotts could only go 3 innings. If you were going to put him in the rotation then it should of been to let him get his starts and let him be stretched out. He didn't really look that bad. He made some good pitches and during a few ocassions tried to get pretty. The Sox aught to stick with Cotts and see what he can do unless they make a trade. Cotts has a good arm and he is at the point where I think he could have a pretty damn good year in the 5th spot for the Sox. So stick with the plan and stop dicking Cotts around. Either let him start of put him in the pen. As far as I'm concerned, Wunsch will do his job in the pen so let Cotts do his thing from the rotation unless Kenny is going to get someone like Freddy Garcia.
  12. Valido is really in a funk. This is the 1st time I think I can remember Nanita having a good offensive game. Maybe he's coming out of his funk.
  13. I don't know what the Orioles needs are, but Jay Gibbons is a semi young, power hitting left handed bat that plays very good defense. He seems like he has a good attitude and I think he'll only get better. He won't win an MVP and may not make a ton of all star games, but he should hit .270-.280 with 30 HR and 90-100 RBI for a good offense. He doesn't make much money or at least I don't think he does and he would definately add some left handed pop. I know Konerko wouldn't really fit in the Orioles lineup but I think Carlos Lee could. I know the Orioles were talking about moving Gibbons to the Dodgers during spring training and he hasn't been hot yet this season. I wouldn't deal Lee for Gibbons straight up but if the Sox could get another good player in return it would be interesting. I doubt they could get a Jorge Julio or someone in those lines in return as well or even a Kurt Ainsworth but if they could it could really help this club. Heck, even if the Sox could give them some pitching prospects for Gibbons (I don't know if the O's are looking for prospects though).
  14. The Top 50 is going to be redone now. I feel like a complete ass for it, but I just never got around to finishing up my part and it would be a disservice to put it up now because it would be semi based off the preseason, so I feel the only thing left to do is redo it so it is as accurate as possible.
  15. I like Crede, I hope he can come through. A lineup with Crede, Jose, Willie and Juan all playing is something I will enjoy compared to watching Rowand botch balls in CF and stink at the plate. I mean Willie isn't the best defensive CF, but the way Arow was playing this season he won't be any worse.
  16. I noticed that it may be a thing with hitters in coors swinging for the fences. Look at what Ronny Belliard is doing since leaving Coors. Belliard was a top prospect many years ago for the Brewers. The Brewers didn't hold onto him too long cause he had some attitude problems and then he went to Coors and I'm guessing him and Uribe's swing were enticed by the thin air and ease of home runs and it really messed up their swings. That and when you play at Coors you basically have one swing for Coors and another for the road and it makes it extremely difficult to be a consistent hitter.
  17. I know this is crazy but Uribe really reminds me of Miguel Tejada. His bat his just really explosive and he is an agressive hitter but the ball just jumps off his bat. I'm not saying he'll be having an MVP season this year, but I see that type of potential in the kid. He's also played STELLAR defensively.
  18. I think a big part of it is that KW and Ozzie seem to be on the same page and have an understanding of the type of guys Ozzie wants. Ozzie may not have all his type of players but Kenny does what he can under his resources to get guys that Ozzie can utilize. We know I've been a KW backer for a while, so no point in taking my name Mark, lol
  19. It was a garbage performance. I booed like nobodies business when Colon walked off the field. I also booed Ortiz on his trot out their, but he pitched damn good. Stupid Skanks had to win.
  20. Colon freaking sucks. Man was he awful tonight. Thank god Ortiz came in and I could finally see someone decent pitch for the Angels. Speaking of which, I think Ortiz is on the verge of figuring it out and wouldn't be a bad pick up for the Sox. Also note that the Angels are screwed with Colon's contract. I reitirate that I can't blame JR for not giving him 4 yr 48.
  21. Yes, XTRA innings is carrying the Twins feed which means I get the game.
  22. If this is just a sign of Borchard finally being health, then I'm a pumped. Keep it up Joe
  23. It is June 7th and 8th, which is good timing. That means I can get up an article a day from June 1st on.
