  1. Ian (Mr. Show) did an outstanding job once again. May Wallpaper (1024) May Wallpaper (800)
  2. Exactly, except Reed is left handed, a little faster, can draw a walk, and should hit over .300. It will be those things, mixed with his Rowand like traits, that make him a fan favorite, imo.
  3. That be very badass. Pierce is one of the best players in the NBA and a backcourt of him and Hinrich would be a major step up. Hell, give the Celtics a shot at Okafor and then some type of cap fillers, maybe Crawford or Fizer, and I'd do it. Or give them Chandler, Crawford and a salary guy. All I ask is the Bulls keep Curry and Hinrich, I could really care less about the rest, although I think Linton, Pargo, and the other guy (don't ask me why I can't remember his name, but the sf) should be kept as role players.
  4. Defensively, I think Reed could be as good as Erstad (not all that talented, but flat out makes plays) to Mark Kotsay (another quality outfielder who doesn't necessarily have great speed). He's got an average, but accurate arm in centerfield, but it will be worse then Rowand, who has in my opinion, one of the better centerfield arms in all of baseball. He's a pretty fast player, not amazingly fast, but above average speed and his instincts make him a little faster. He won't steal more then 25-30 bases in the majors though, unless he's in a very agressive system. Really he doesn't amaze you, I think he's one of those guys the more you watch him, the more you appreciate him.
  5. I'm really glad Majewski had a perfect inning and a third. He also struck out 2. Majewski is the righty reliever I most like in Charlotte and I still fill he could one day contribute on the South Side. I really like his fastball and his mentality, although he still needs to better develop some sort of offspeed ptich. Still, him getting out of his funk is a good thing, cause it makes the Knights a lot better. The question is, will the Knights ever hit. They look like they have an atrocious offense, absolutely atrocious. We know about Reed and Borchard (whose struggling) but other then Nelson whose having a career startt the Barons are weak, very weak, and this is in a hitters park. Those pitchers are really going to have to keep it up, if not get better.
  6. If you ask me, its probably better that we aren't hearing anything anymore. Think of the times when the Sox make deals, almost always it kind of comes out of nowhere. For example, their weren't many rumors when the Sox signed Marte, nor were their rumors when the Sox signed Buehrle...it kind of just went down. I'm going to hope thats what happens with Magglio.
  7. Tlak, I think Willie would have a much more difficult time as a CF, simply because the Sox have nothing in the organization thats near major league ready in the infield. I think most of us think Uribe has a lot of upside (who knows if he'll reach it) but their is also a question as to how much longer Jose will be a White Sox (will the Sox resign him???), so Willie has a spot. If he were to move to center (willie doesn't really have much of an arm, although his range is solid) then he'd all of a sudden be fighting with not only Rowand, but Reed, Borchard, Sweeney, Anderson, Nanita and a whole lot of others. I think he's best suited playing second base. First off, he doesn't have the power to play another infield position (including shortstop, which is become more of a power position), and secondly because he's a solid defensive second baseman and it fills a definate need on the Sox. However, if the SOx want to hold Reed back and aren't happy with Rowand, then I do see an option where Harris moves to center and leads off, while Uribe hits in the 2 hole and you can move Jose's left handed bat down in the order, which can help break up all the righties.
  8. I still don't have a problem with Willie or Aaron. I do think that Reed is very close to playing in Chicago, but their isn't much Rowand can do about that, because Reed has been playing so fantastic and can fit into the 2 hole, something I still feel the Sox need. However, I am not about to move Harris out of the lineup, as of now, he's our leadoff hitter. He's been putting a lot better swings on the ball and his average isn't awful, although his OBP is. I'm still comitted to letting Willie get a full month and a half before I make a judgement. I think he can do it though, I really do. With Rowand, he's been hitting the ball solid, imo. Timo had been struggling up until today and now some want him in the lineup. Timo is a quality backup; Rowand may really be a quality backup, but its worth giving him playing time to see, especially since the Sox have no idea whether Maggs will be here next year and if they keep Maggs, maybe it means Lee has to go); so the Sox may still need both Rowand and Reed as starters, instead of Reed soley replacing Rowand.
  9. Unless he's found something else, I don't know if he'll ever be able to pitch at the major league level. But he's a solid pitcher from the minor league standpoint. He's not very over powering and is pretty much a junkballer, but its great seeing him pitching strong.
  10. She's hot...saw her flipping through the channels last night. GOt me to watch the show...couldn't tell whether I liked it or not. Smallville is the only thing I ever watch on the WB. That and if I see that show with Amanda Bynes on
  11. Press Release was Provided by the Birmingham Barons (www.barons.com) and was put up on FutureSox. BIRMINGHAM, AL – Baseball has a very rich history in Birmingham. For over a hundred years, America’s pastime has been an integral part of peoples lives in the Magic City. The industrial era of the early to mid 1900’s was a time that exemplified this love for the game. On Thursday, June 17th at 12:30 PM the Barons will revisit this era and the Industrial Baseball Leagues as they take on the Huntsville Stars at historic Rickwood Field for the 9th Annual Rickwood Classic presented by State Farm Insurance. The Barons and Stars will don the uniforms of Industrial League teams that played in the 1930’s. Birmingham will wear the uniforms of Sloss Industries and Huntsville will represent U.S. Steel. This match up will turn back the clock to a classic industrial league battle between two of Birmingham’s oldest and most historically rich companies. The Industrial Leagues in Birmingham consisted of teams sponsored by local businesses and the rosters were made up of the workers from those companies. Games between industry rivals constituted major social events, with music and food, and helped foster pride and loyalty to the employer. The ballplayers themselves were typically seen as heroes to their co-workers and community and being a baseball player for your company was considered a most prestigious position. The Industrial Leagues were not like the typical company softball leagues of today. The competition was real and the players were good. Often times, companies would hire an employee based on his baseball skills rather than his job skills to bolster their lineup. Many players made the transition from the Industrial Leagues to professional baseball. Numerous standouts for the Birmingham Black Barons, like Piper Davis, Mule Suttles, Artie Wilson and others, played industrial ball in Birmingham. Shoeless Joe Jackson began his career playing company ball in South Carolina before moving on to the big leagues. Fans are encouraged to come to the game and “dress the part”, as music and entertainment from the 1930’s will be provided. Before the game, the first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a one-of-a-kind Rickwood Field replica stadium courtesy of State Farm Insurance. The jerseys from both teams will be auctioned off during the game with part of the proceeds going to the upkeep of Rickwood Field. Memorabilia from the Industrial Leagues will also be displayed and players from the era will be recognized. Tickets for the ninth annual Rickwood Classic presented by State Farm Insurance are now on sale at the Hoover Met box office. Tickets are $8.00 general admission and $6.00 for groups of 20 or more. For ticket information contact the Barons Front Office at (205) 988-3200 or www.barons.com. This year, the Rickwood Classic is presented by State Farm Insurance. The team uniforms are sponsored by Sloss Industries Corporation and U.S. Steel. 12. Don't make me bust out my Chris Young secret powers...it will result in lots of homers and lots of whiffs (but once he develops...WOWZERS)
  13. I thought it is during the Finals, but not sure.
  14. No clue, but they wont' pass on Okafor if he's their. I'm going to wait until the lottery is done though.
  15. Well, you never heard me saying Crede needed to go anywhere. He has a good swing and power to all parts of the field. He's hitting the ball hard right now and it was just a matter of time. I'm really impressed with him and Uribe right now. I swear, as long as Uribe keeps hitting the ball on the line (and doesn't start swinging for the fences) he's going to be a solid player for us. Uribe just hits the ball hard, although he still has to work on his eye and of course making sure he doesn't get home r or pull happy.
  16. The Warthogs swept their doubleheader today
  17. Take away Bullard's start and his numbers are solid. I'm sure its difficult having to change motions and stuff.
