  1. These are the little things that can really lead to fan support and all that. Look at what Cuban has done in Dallas. The Mavs weren't on the map until he showed up.
  2. I don't think the paper that reported that was really up to date or on par. Right now I think the O's are the likely front runners for Ponson, although the Sox are definately a possibility, although right now I'm still kind of wondering what exactly all the deals today mean (if they go final). By the way welcome aboard..I noticed you registered a while ago...but this is your first post

Its not if, but when...and it will be before the season starts And I know you'll be happy with that.

My honest, most likely answer, is no...but anything can happen. Although I do see a new Sox News Site starting up eventually...it would just be under a different name, with possibly different people. I can say that if I were to do a Sox site, it would be FutureSox...thats what I want to do and will do. The time it would take to run a SoxNet type site is too much with school, work and friends.
  5. I don't think any of us know specific players/White Sox personell, but I do believe that there are at least a few that read this site as well as others. Now if they post or not, I wouldnt' have a clue. Bajenaru, Cotts, and Bullard are the only players I know of that post here...but that doesn't mean they are the only ones that read it.
  6. And if your going to spend 6 mill a year, why not sign a guy thats pretty proven in the majors. Heck, if your willing to invest that you could land Washburn by giving up Rauch or waiting for them to non tender him. I just think that if your gonna spend 4-5 million, you better be really damn confident this guy is the real deal, cause your putting a hefty investment on a guy you've only watched pitch a few times, if that, and his medical history is a big if.
  7. As long as Nomar is healthy...I'm fairly confident he will play really good. Yes, Fenway isn't as big, but you also have a lot more field to play with at the Cell and its still a good hitters park, plus Nomar won't have a fenway adjusted swing which effects his road splits, imo. As long as the Sox plan on keeping him after this season and spending hte money it takes to bring in a pitching staff...I'm very excited with this deal....well we know I don't want to see Cotts or a top pitching prospect go though.
  8. So the Sox would also get a top pitching prospect. Do the Red Sox have anyone now? I hope if htey give up a pitcher that its Rauch...I like Wright more then Rauch...like Cotts more then both.
  9. It will be either Guillen, Wynn, or Garcia. Remember Cirillo is about to be dealt to the Mets. And I will be happy with any of those three. The deal won't be announced till after the whole Arod stuff goes down, but it is near finalized.
  10. Burnitz is supposedly one of the front runners for a backup slot on the Cubs. Although...when you think about it, Burnitz could actually fit with the Sox. Left handed power and he can play right. He isn't great out there, but he could. I hate all the whiffs, but he really improved last year and if he's considering a backup role with the Cubs, he must not be looking for that much money.
  11. That was my other thought. Maybe Evans would get so mad that he'd just crawl into a hole and never deal with us.
  12. We've been seeing eye to eye as of late Thats exactly how I figure things will look. Sox will have two holes after all the trades work out...the 5th spot in the rotation, and the cf/2nd base slot...plus you have right field. Right field and the 5th spot will be the major hole though, cause with Wynn or Garcia and Nomar you are fine if you ask me to the point you can use Willie Harris. And the Sox should be able to find a pretty decent RF for the right price. I don't think KW wants to use Jeremy Reed at this point. I don't trust Scho and would rather non-tender him and go with someone else for 2 million, imo. Although I do like Scho.
  13. Fireballer who supposedly lost velocity (accoring to the Cuba Baseball officials and they have been known to lie). Remember, they don't want to see one of their players go and get a lot of money. He's going to have a tryout type session where he will showcase his stuff in the beginning of January, I think January 8th. 24 years old and is supposed to hit 100 with ease (if healthy). He says he is going to start asking for Jose Contreras money and I think he's nuts if he expects that. That being said at the right price, if healthy, he'd be an amazing pickup.
  14. Thats what I see happening. The Sox can clear a little payroll that way and can keep a big bat...aka Nomar, and then move Jose for another pitcher or a leadoff type hitter.
  15. If Beane is willing to give 5 mil a season for 3 yrs to the A's then he's losing it. Maybe he's just getting ready for when he joins the Dodgers, which has been rumored to happen if the McCourt ownership goes through (He's the guy trying to buy the Dodgers).
  16. A few earlier reports mentioned him, but I haven't heard his name at all on all the espn news updates and all that.
  17. Whicked stuff...he's definately been a forgotten guy. Knowing the Sox, Diaz is the prospect on his way out in the deal.
  18. Give him a shot for the fans to warm up to him and all that.
  19. I mean if they do all these moves...are the Sox looking and willing to go to 70 mill and say hey, if we win it this year, then we'll stay at that rate, otherwise we can let guys like Garcia guy for draft picks or deal them and the same with Nomar and all that?
  20. Well I haven't passed em yet Vince...still go a final tomorrow and an inclass writing assingment on Friday.
  21. Hey, I want him here...if the Sox raise payroll and keep him here.
  22. This is from San Francisco's newspaper Rhodes would be a hell of a pickup. I have no idea if this offer is still on the table...but if they get Garcia, Williamson, and keep Nomar it looks like the team is gonna spend money. I'm confused http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPGK33OSFS1.DTL
  23. Shutup Vince...I've learned my lesson
  24. Lol...I had homework to study for..well finals. If I finish my studying soon enough it means I can go see Lord of the Rings tonight...instead of waiting till Saturday.
