    rumor

Well until Arod is a Red Sox, there is no point making news of the Sox potentially landing Nomar or giving them Magglio. If they did get Williamson and give up Munoz, it seems like the type of player that would be handed to Texas as a completion piece. I'd much rather see Jon Rauch dealt then Arnaldo Munoz. Munoz, 21, lefty and has some pretty dominant stuff. Then could the Sox work out a deal to get guys back in some sort of 3 way with the BoSox, Dodgers, and Sox or maybe they Sox just get Nomar and some cash or a prospect...who knows. Williamson is a stud though. But acquiring Guillen for Jose is a right step. Guillen would fit very nicely in the 2 hole and he's a very solid player. That move also frees up a couple mill and gives the Sox some other options. I don't think the Sox would want to add someone plus jose for Guillen unless its a contract guy that the So are giving up and in that case why would the M's do it.

    rumor

If thats the case it would defiantely make sense. You had to wonder why the Expos would sign Everett...so maybe they did something like that, but its still very speculative. All I know is Bruce Levine is reporting that the Sox are close to acquiring Carlos Guillen for Jose and Scott Williamson for Arnie Munoz and a few others. Can anyone verify that Levine is reporting this? I'd hate to see Munoz go, but Williamson would be a big step up in the pen and well I'd love Guillen for Jose and it make a hell of a lot more sense for the Mariners then Guillen for Vizquel.
  3. Very interesting and if Garcia signs a one yaer deal, look for him to be on the move. I'd do the Jose gor Guillen deal in a heartbeat. Don't want to see Munoz go one bit.

Isn't there a time limit between when a player signs and when they can be traded (In regards to Everett). Although I could see the point to the Red Sox acquiring Magglio, I don't know what they could offer other then Nomar to get him. Unless they get what the Sox want from the Dodgers in some type of 3 way deal. The stuff makes a decent amount of sense though. Still, its soley a rumor. I would love if Boston got involed and George stuck his nose into things though...cause the price would be sure to go up.
  5. Ya, the old pics, from before the server outage, have not been moved over, unless someone made a specific request for me to move their sig pic over, simply because the sheer volume or images on the old server was too big to move to this one. I am going to restore the hot chick thread during my xmas break...probably a page per day, cause its a pain in the ass looking for hte pictures, but for the greatest thread in hot chick history...its a small price to pay

  7. Ah s***...thats gonna make things really interesting. Fizer is gonna get a lot more time as will Jeffries. Davis, Williams, Fizer, Jeffries are gonna get a whole lot of minutes, plus Blount is out. If the Bulls can somehow fight it off and play winning basketball without Curry, Chandler and Pipp then they will be in a great position when they get them back, but it will be incredibly difficult. Also, Erob is really gonna have to step up his game, he's gotten lazy on d again...after playing pretty damn impressive most of the season (defensively).
  8. As long as they are on the major league DL, you can sit them there. Of course it has to be a valid injury. Or at least thats how I think it works. And of course they'd have to stay on your 40 man roster.
  9. I completely agree, although I remember KW saying, he didn't want to talk about the attendance limitations anymore. He just said he would do the best with the budget he was handed to him. After that it was out of his control. It was something along those lines. I agree, it isn't his job to worry and blame the fans for lower attendance, that just alienates them more. He should do his job and put a kick ass team on the field (well the best one you can) at the set budget and get it to compete, make the playoffs, and with winning and showing the right attitude towards fans, bringing the fans back. It ain't easy, but I firmly believe it could be done...and it could start this year (Well technically last June/July when the Sox made all those moves that really gave Sox fans that extra spark and the belief for the first time in a long time that the team had a shot to go all the way and that management was trying its best with the resources it had been given by JR). I don't want to rebuild unless the Sox are just gonna sit there and stay mediocre. This team can be developed into a big time winner, I just hope KW sees that and can make the right moves and JR allows him to spend around 60 mill and if the Sox are looking really good come midseason, let KW add a few mill, so they don't have to give up a lot of prospects to get guys.
  10. But at the same time, he'd probably end up taking even less of a pay cut. I think a team could probably sign him for 5-6 mill if they acquired him in a trade and that would be more then fair for a guy with his type of talent..compared to the 8 mill he'd have a shot at commanding in arbitration.
  11. On a sidenote...this deal makes absolutely no freaking sense. Mariners are trading a solid, relatively cheap shortstop, for Omar Vizquel whose old, had two knee surgeries last season and is due around 6 mill, maybe more. Why in god sake would you make that deal???? I realize Omar is amazing defensively, but I'd have to think two knee surgeries would have a drastic effect on his range. Plus he only hit .244 last year. Hell, Carlos Guillen hit .275 with a .359 OBP (He'd be a sweet two hole hitter...although the high k totals are worrisome, but he draws a ton of walks). And to make not, he hit a little over .290 on the road.
  12. Completely understand Wsox...I just took my 2nd final..got 3 more left...one on Wed, one on Thurs, and one on Friday. As far as Huff, the LA Times made mentioned that early in the winter meetings the Dodgers were going after him and making a push and that he was in fact on the market in return for pitching prospects. The Drays have no pitching and a plethora of young outfielders (Badelli, Crawford, Huff, Jose Cruz, Delvin Young or whatever the hell dmtri's brothers name is) and they have a lot of ???'s when it comes to pitching. The Dodgers reportedly balked on giving up two stud pitching prospects or something along those lines, and speculation was that they would prefer a right handed bat, since Green is a lefty (Thats much more speculation). Who knows if its true, but if the Sox did these deals and acquired some pitching prospects...then they could turn around and deal those prospects for Huff whose cheap, left handed hitter (Sox definately could use that) and would fill in very admireably for Maggs offense. Not once have the Sox been linked to Huff though.
  13. Still...at the same time, if the Sox are going to set a payroll, then the trades have to fit into that so called payroll limit. And with a smaller payroll, they have to be fiscally smart in where they spend there money.
  14. What your going to want to do is go to your controls. Somewhere in your controls...I think in settings, there is a place where you can change the time zone. I'll also work on making the standard timezone something like central time since thats what most people are. Once you do that the time should be set.
  15. This leaves the Dodgers as the definate front runners, but does give Seattle the ability to add Magglio...of course they may no longer be suitors for Jose Valentin's services, unless some type of Jose for Omar Vizquel swap happened (But I think Omar makes more then Jose). Also, Carlos Guillen is the likely player leaving the Mariners for Cleveland which probably means he isn't a possibility as well. Randy Wynn is still out there though and would definately fill a need for the Sox. More reports are surfacing that Garcia will be non tendered becasue the Mariners took a beating last year, althoug his agent has said Garcia would take a large pay cut, but the Mariners aren't listening. Most teams have backed off on getting Freddy via trade, because he's gonna be non tendered and available for less. All I can say is, if I were a team trying to get Garcia, it may be best to deal for him, and try to negotiate a deal beforehand, because its gonna be real tough to sign him when he hits the market (Although he should be out there for a fair price) but there could be a few suitors: White Sox, St. Louis (Unless they are stopping at Suppan), maybe the Dodgers, possibly a few others.
  16. Would everyone die if Magglio and Frank were dealt? I don't have a problem with whose dealt as long as they get value for the guys and it makes the club better off. Frank played a lot better last season, but constantly there has been blathering that Frank is just an ass in the clubhouse. I have no idea if its true, I'm not in the clubhouse, but if a team is willing to give up in the Dodgers case (Maybe they don't want Maggs or don't want to quite pay that price...try to get Perez and Jackson) and then deal Maggs to the Red Sox or Mariners along with Jose and get Wynn/Garcia/Soriano/ or Naggette/Guillen. Would anyone here have a problem with getting: Soriano or Naggotte (300K), Edwin Jackson (300K), Randy Wynn (3.5 mill), Carlos Guillen (2.5 mill), Freddy Garcia (8 mill - high estimate), and Odalis Perez (6 mill - high estimate) for Frank Thomas (6.5 mill), Magglio Ordonez (14 mill), and Jose Valentin (5 mill). Overall the Sox give up 25.5 million worth of contracts and take on (21 million). They also have their rotation filled, have a young stud reliever/starter in Soriano, have a stud prospect ready to come up if anything happens in Jackson as well as their shortstop and cf (leadoff position filled). They would need to find someone to replace Maggs and Frank's production, but now Juan Gone enters the picture as a DH type candidate (or go after Aubry Huff). Randy Wynn Carlos Guillen Carlos Lee DH (JUAN GONE/Palmerio) RF - Rowand/Reed/Borchard (Potentially Audry Huff or another FA signing) Paul Konerko (Would bat higher if the Sox went with Rowand/Reed/Borchard) Joe Crede Miguel Olivo Willie Harris Rotation Elo Buehrle Garcia Perez Garland Bullpen Marte Koch (Weathers) Soriano Wright (Williamson) Grilli Wunsch/FA (Williamson/FA) The Sox still have options people, I can come up with more then a few scenarios pending different things that could work out. I'm assuming Kenny cna do the same, but its much easier said, then done. All I'm saying is if Kenny had the balls to move Maggs and Frank (It would take some serious cohonies to do it) you could do it and put together one hell of a team and you'd have some stud prospects as well.
  17. Couldn't agree more with you about having Uribe and Harris out there. If they could pick up Wynn that would be sweet. Would the Mariners do Wynn for Jose (I never figured into the mix what the Sox would get for Jose). I just assumed that the only way the Dodgers would be interested in this is if they didn't get Nomar or if the Arod/Manny deal never went down. If the deal didn't go down, then I would presume that the Mariners would be willing to do this. Then the Sox would add about 2 mill to the projected payroll (Which includes picking up money to move Koch...although you are right, they'd probably stick with Wunsch at 750 k compared to getting Rhodes or Gabe White, which would basically make that 2 mill addition null and void..meaning the 57 mill estimtae would be on pace, even with Wynn). Then you have Randy Wynn Carlos Lee (I like him in the 2 hole, quick, protection, and gets things started, although I'd have no problem with him in the 3 hole with Frank in the 4 hole and Huff behind him). In that caues I'd insert Willie Harris (Or if they dealt someone like Ginter for Brian Roberts...O's need some pitching put him there and let Harris be the utility guy) Thomas Huff Konerko Crede Olivo Uribe And the rotation stays the same with a bullpen of: Mota, Marte, Koch (Weathers), Wunsch, Wright, Grilli...if you deal Wright, then insert Williamson. Still very very solid and meets payroll. The big key is what happens with Nomar and will the Drays take Huff. And if the Sox don't want to invest in Ponson, reports out of Anaheim indicate that they will non tender Jarrod Washburn, who'd I'd love the Sox to bring in. Washburn is probably tops on my list. If they sox were able to strictly deal Maggs for Mota and prospects (not very likely) and sign Garcia (After he's non tendered) and Washburn then I'd be quite pleased cause you could do it for a little less. The thing is that the Dodgers probably aren't willing to do that deal and this deal would only happen after Dec. 20th when the Sox would be assured they could get those guys, which is still a big if. There are a lot of backup scenarios, but I think the best possible deals are with the Dodgers or Mariners and like you say hoping that Nomar either doesn't leave Boston or that he goes to Anaheim or another team. As long as the Dodgers and Mariners are in the race for Maggs, it means they can use eachother to raise the price. For example...Wynn/Garcia/Soriano for Jose and Magglio or the dodgers Mota/Perez/Edwin Jackson (I absolutely love this kid...freaking stuf of a pitcher). Dont' mind it if the Sox get one of their other top prospects (I have no interest in Guiterez simply because the Sox have enough outfield bats in the system...imo..and I'd rather get stud pitching). This is if they didn't get Mota, and then the Sox could use Rauch or someone else to land Williamson. Simply put the Sox have a ton of options, especially if they can move Maggs, save some cash, add a starter or two and a reliever/top prospect. Then they can work a few other trades and FA signings and be in a hell of a position. Will it happen, who the hell knows.
  18. I have no problem with that, I don't have much interest in any of those 6, although Vladdy would be nice...it ain't going to happen.
  19. Think if the Sox had someone in AAA putting up those kind of numbers as a starter and had good stuff, I think we'd be talking about him. I like this move cause it means Munoz can get a little more time as can Rauch (I don't believe he's back yet, although the 2nd half of the season was a nice start. Grilli has great stuff and I think could turn into a pretty damn good sleeper pick.
  20. Thats what I do every morning. Wake up hoping something happened. I remember waking up, turning on my computer and seeing that the Sox had acquired Colon. Now when I get home from my finals I turn on the computer and hope something happenned. COME ON SOX!!!!

    Madden 2005

s***, that would be pretty freaking cool. I really like that idea. We could set up some brackets with everyone who has online and put something together. s***, that be awesome. Could be a sweet thing during January or Febuary. Awesome idea Brando
  22. I'd make the Dodgers pay up, plain and simple. Kenny shouldn't bend or anything like that. This is a fair offer for both sides, imo. If Kenny plays strong, I think the deal gets done.
  23. Getting Perez, Ponson, Williamson, Huff, and Mota. My ultra ultra wish...somehow keeping Edwin Jackson and only losing Rauch/Wright/Borchard/Magglio/Pacheco or someone else.
  24. That be fine with me, but then the deal becomes a bit more complicated. But I do think Mota is a big pickup cause he really helps stabilize the pen and gives the Sox two quality major leaguers to show for Maggs, plus one top prospect. Of course Wynn, Perez and two prospects would be something to listen too...but would the Dodgesr give up two prospects??? I think they will be hard pressed to get one.
