  1. Ya, Holt was a big time college hitter for Texas or Texas A&M but since then he hasn't been much of anything in the minors. Before coming to the Sox, he showed a little potential (like he was going to find it) but all the potential went down the drain when he bombed this year. He's already old and still couldn't suceed in AA, having to go back to A ball. As far as Storey, I'd say he's better then holt, but neither are major league prospects. Storey is a solid minor leaguer in the sense that he can be a good piece to help a minor league team win.
  2. That was in the minor league portion. The Sox had none taken from the major league draft, but they took Jason Grilli from the Marlins. Somewhere on the board there are a few posts all about these guys
  3. Full Article to the Story I'd definately like Scott Williamson, but not at the price of a pitcher, which is what it appears the Red Sox want. Now if that pitcher is something like Matt Ginter and someone else, then I'd say listen, maybe even Jon Rauch, now that the Sox have Grilli, but no more then that.
  4. Eric Storey and Daylan Holt.
  5. Right now Millwood hasn't gotten jack, so I wouldn't exactly use him as a counter. And if you counter Escobar, you could make a point for him being a similar pitcher to Escobar. Of course thats in arbitration, the Sox don't have to deal with that, so I do think its a fair offer. I expect him to go for about 3 yr 21 mill and wouldn't be shocked if he got 8 mill per, but at 6 mill per, it would be within a reasonable range and would be a great signing.
  6. ITs a new poster. When they first registered I went to see if it was a duplicate and it wasn't.
  7. If they get into a bidding war and lose, then it could make them big time front runners for Maggs and Jose.
  8. After reading that and KW getting on an early flight back, it could (ME PURELY SPECULATING) mean that he's coming to Chicago and they will meet in person with Ponson and his agent trying to finalize something. Ahh who the hell knows, I just know I'd be happy if Ponson was a White Sox.
  9. Very interesting...if the Sox and JR have met or talked to Ponson today, it could really turn things around. If in fact Ponson is a White Sox, then it gives the Sox so much more flexibility, imo. It means that they now know they have 4 starters and can be a lot more patient when it comes to moving their bats, cause they are that much less desperate. I sure as hell hope thats true, cause at that price he'd be a great pickup, imo.
  10. I wonder how much ESPN checked into this. You'd think some type of major source like ESPN Radi would be reporting this.
  11. 27...the one that said 24 was from a few years ago.
  12. According to LA Radio, if McCourt (New Owner) sale goes through he will set the payroll at 85 mill, which is basically what its at. I don't personally think his deal is going to go through cause the guy has absolutely no money. He owns one piece of property and thats it.
  13. Think Pavano was a one time top notch prospect who eventually was reclamated. Of course Pavano had pitched in the majors before going to the Marlins via FA. That being said, Grilli is in the same mold, per say. I say why not. If he sucks during spring training the sox lose 50k and send him back to the Marlins. If he does good, you throw him in the pen.
  14. I thought that was only if we took him to arbitration. But that clause in the arbitration agreement would of prevented it. The only way the Sox could of done it is if Everett declined arbitration and the Sox then worked out that kind of deal. Or I guess Everett could of already known his market and accepted a Sox offer without the Sox offering him arbitration (They would of had to do that by the 7th of December). Basically it would of been possible to do it for less, but highly unlikely.
  15. Did I say he was an ass??? If so, the only thing I know about Juan Gone is he's been reported to be sour at times. I have no idea and I didn't know I posted that. Usually I try not to make mention of a players personality cause Everett was always talked about a complete jackass and from the moment he joined the team all he did was play his ass off and become one of my favs.
  16. Holt will stay with that team. I think he just has to stay at AA or he can go higher, just not lower.
  17. Thats a good signing for the Expos. He's a great guy with a great attitude. In his short time with the Sox he become one of my favorites and I'll always root for him, except when he plays with the Sox. Its too bad the Sox couldn't of had him here, cause he would of been a fine replacement for Magglio (if he gets dealt).
  18. Plus with Graffy gone they had no one that could play shortstop other then Jose. So if Jose was injured they'd be screwed. Uribe can fill for Harris or Jose and is the best defensive middle infielder we got. Whether he can learn to hit or not, who knows, but whose to say Miles will be a productive major league player. I'll take the younger, more talented player, that plays a key position. Uribe has put up some solid numbers in the majors, especially when he broke onto the scene. I was a huge fan of that trade, simply because the ceiling is so much higher on Uribe then Miles.
  19. Were talking about Juan gone and how do you call him one of the biggest waste of talents. During the mid 90's he was the most prolific and feared offensive hitter in the majors. Injuries have made him worse, but as recent as 2001 he knocked in over 140 RBI...thats pretty sick. I remember in the 90's he averaged more RBI per ab than any player in the majors. This guy has the talent and was at one point the best offensive player in the majors. He can still flat hit too, last year in 82 games he knocked in 70 with 24 Hr's. The big concern is can he stay healthy, is he motivated, and will he draw more walks, cause the past two years he hasn't had near as many walks, but at the same time he wasn't playing every day.
  20. Defensively he's a huge liability in right, but I guess he could play there. I would like to see Juan Gone a Sox though.
  21. I did notice Eric Storey was taken in the AA Rule V draft by the Expos. He was decent, a solid minor leaguer in the sense that he'd help a minor league team win. Not much major league potential. Still shocked over the Holt thing. I know he hit up a storm in Texas, but hasn't found it since.
  22. Oh god...we just loss the key piece to the Koch trade Holt is old and couldn't suceed in AA, so he spent most of the season in A ball where he still didn't get many at bats. I am shocked someone would of taken him.
  23. And if they get a 2nd baseman, then I think Willie Harris will be in center, but one of Harris and Rowand will be the starting CF. With Reed and Borchard getting outside chances, but highly unlikely (especially Reed).
