  1. This is fantastic - timing is great too. I want to see stadium deal announce at 79 or alternate site in Chicago by end of year with 29 opening date. Means we should see them spend in 28 offseason and maybe even in 27 offseason heading into 28 - so they are dialed in and excited for new stadium etc. Timing lines up well with rebuild cause him coming in now and spending massive money while exciting probably would be too soon to blow the wad - in another year / 2 - hopefully system continues to depend and major league roster has added some attractive pieces from system including some guys making it up this year.
  2. The Crochet trade on paper is looking pretty good early - for both teams - but Sox needed positional talent and while Montgomery is slumping, he is high upside and high character and Meidroth isn’t sexy but a damn solid ball player and OBP machine and Teel looks like a potential long time stud catcher. Hopefully we are even more excited a year from now about those three and I’m still thinking Wiki can be a solid reliever in time.
  3. Id take him back - but I am a thibs fanboy!
  4. Isn’t this as simple as they want to make sure him and quero are both getting lots of reps and at bats? Teel the better catcher but having him get time at 1B isn’t a bad thing either to keep him fresh too.
  5. This - it really feels like to work with JR you kind of have to understand what makes him ticks and than really push he right way to get him on board with your strategy and build the right paths forward. I think to Getz credit - he has basically reserved money for investing in new coaching, enhanced developmental methods, changes across development programs...but very little in the way of major league money, if anything he's almost said - Jerry - I feel strongly about this and so much so that I'll actually underspend at big league level to show you the value. When over time it works, he builds the trust and moves on. But also - he has to know where JR has specific lines in the sand (ie long term deals to pitchers, 500M long term contracts) and basically build a sustainable org that fits those parameters - not one that is naive and pretends that somehow they can convince other way or live on 50 cents vs. the dollar. JR will spend money -but not in the way all of us want - and therefor Getz has to understand that and build a sustainable view that works within JR's framework (which I think with right leader and approach can happen - but in fairness - it isn't the easiest way).
  6. I was totally wrong on Robert.

In fairness - I presume and hope the club has him working on something different. I would expect a step back with different while he gets himself to that point - now the real question is in time will different trend up. If it did and if Colson and Vargas continue in their trend, my optimism of this org would significantly improve. I'm not ready to say that until I see Colson continue on this upward streak for another handful of months and to see Vargas finish the year hammering the ball...but both of those would be very good examples of actual development the team has done which is two more than I could point to on the positional slide in the past 5+ years (if not the last decade).
  8. Nothing would be better than Vaughn making the necessary adjustments down there and coming back a new player. Same with Elko- apply what you need to from your brief cup of coffee to be better prepared for when you come back up. This worked for Torkelson…let it work for AV.
  9. He would be welcome back here - let him get innings and see if he can regain his stuff: if he can - you deal him.
  10. Tony - I really like the idea. I think the one inherent bias to the deal is larger market teams clearly would have an advantage because you can probably help them negotiate / obtain bigger advertising / non team related pay which would put an inherent advantage to Chicago, LA, New York, etc. I would think you'd have to find a way to normalize for that.
  11. If anything - don't make the $ equal - so you are giving more money to the worse teams - teams can trade "draft" money for the value and optimize accordingly. It would certainly be interesting to say the least. My guess is it would end up in a bigger disparity of have and have nots in terms of players - more of the higher end prospects will get a larger swath of the pool and than a bunch of guys on minimum deals. But essentially with a pool tied to where you would "pick" you essentially create a free market view of the draft.
  12. My point is - you have work to do as a qb. How about focus on that vs put this stuff out there and spend time on this. Think of the bulletin board material week 1. Think of the dialogue now and how it impacts things. If he is now all bought into Chicago - why spend all this time (not saying this is a ton of time - might have been all of one one hour conversation) rehashing this stuff and making it a thing.
  13. I just hope the noise and article isn’t by Caleb. I don’t see anything good for him and his team wasting his time on this narrative. We all know Flus sucked and situation wasn’t great - but focus your time on getting better right now cause he has plenty to work on.
  14. 7 teams have worse run differentials than the White Sox.
  15. LETS GO!!! Lets win the real season Chicago Bears!!!
  16. I’m so tired at the Bulls lousy front office. That said - if they somehow could give up the next 5 years of picks and swaps plus a young player and filler for a star that works for me.
  17. Black Friday game will be fun.
  18. Fucking eh. The Mavs winning it kills me. Didn’t Bulls lose a flip with Atlanta like a year ago or something or am I making that up?
  19. Come on Bulls - let the lady luck be on our side!!!
  20. Please be one of those dudes who just ends up being a damn good player despite limited minor league hype…
  21. Thought I would open this up for the collective to share their favorite memories of Alex or favorite posts.
  22. It is with great sadness that I inform our members of the passing of our beloved Alex (ie Heads). Alex was one of my dear friends - and was a friend to all on Soxtalk, around Ames Iowa (where he supported his cyclones) and to his friends and family. For anyone that didn’t know Alex, he had a heart of gold and he always treated people on this forum (and anyone) with the upmost respect and dignity. He loved his family, his friends, his White Sox and especially his Iowa State Cyclones. We will forever miss Alex, but we will always remember him. He was with Soxtalk from its infancy and played such an incredible roll in building out this site, developing our community, driving passionate discussion and ensuring civil dialogue. What I will miss most about Alex is his sense of humor, kind heart, and passion. We would share text over the years and always be joking with each other…whether it was over the Iowa / Iowa State game (My Hawkeyes would always win) or chatting about the Sox (and even the Dodgers - both of our dads favorite teams). I’ll always remember after all the years of texts and IMs when we finally met in person - somehow he was even nicer in person. From all those texts, it was always clear how much he loved his family, friends, the Sox and of course the Cyclones. I know without a doubt what has always made this place special is the connection our members have to each other and Alex was very much the epitome of that and we have all lost a tremendous friend and way way too soon in life. We love you Alex, we will forever miss you, and we send nothing but love and prayers to you, your family, and your friends. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family members and friends who were impacted by the tragic accident. https://cyclones.com/news/2025/5/6/isu-athletics-mourns-the-loss-of-alex-ernst
  23. Got one of those photo reminders on Facebook…16 years ago this week is when I created the Soxtalk blackout that last 1 plus week (might have been longer)….when I totally screwed up a site upgrade….
  24. Bears move down again - get a 4th rounder next year. Those are valuable when it comes to leverage to trade for other players etc. Didn’t love the LB they took but he is fast and they need to replace Sanborn.
  25. The Jets or Steelers have to grab him. Or maybe someone like McVay. My guess is if he is there when Dallas picks next he will go there. At this point - if were Bears I’d take him. Let him be a back up for a year with Ben Johnson and than trade him. Sanders had some flaws but he is damn accurate and accurate works in the NFL.
