Moving a show to Friday is the death of pretty much any show.
-
Finally I was able to watch it from the start and damn does this show seem kickass. I tried watching it before but couldn't get into the episodes since usually when I saw it, it was already like the 8th hour. Good stuff and yes she definately kicks ass
-
U mean buying crack for your teammate isn't considered charity In all seriousness, I watch the show. Its one of the rare shows on TV that I try to catch every episode of.

Geniuses, real geniuses. I don't fall in that 10 or 20%.

I stick to my theory that Ponson signs in the very first week of free agency for about 21 mill over 3 yrs. Great news about the Mets possibly being interested in Koch.
-
I told ya all, were gonna be a lot more serious when it comes to getting rid of the crap. All he was doing was attacking people...that ain't cool

Name one player on this team who didn't have a two week stretch where they produced next to nothing, you simple-minded twit. > You are as mistaken as a woman over 35 who thinks she's attractive. Frank was offered a contract last season by the Dodgers. This year THE FREE AGENT MARKET hasn't even opened yet! Try buying a clue. Geeze...lets not get personal when two people have differing opinions. I'm of the belief that if Frank is indeed a major distraction in the clubhouse then he should be gone. Its not going to happen and Frank is going to be back next year either way, but I personally think at this point in time the Sox would be better off with his money spent elsewhere. If I'm wrong in regards to his clubhouse behavior then I'd gladly take Frank back in the 5 hole. He was productive last year and his OBP is very good. I am ticked he decided to hit for the fences, cause I saw too many situations last year where they could of gotten the guys over and failed to and bottom line thats the reason the Sox weren't in the playoffs this season. As far as players being streaky, your right on, the entire team was streaky and to a point every player is streaky. In the cas of Konerko he had about two good months and sucked the rest of the way. Maggs had a few amazing months and other not so good months. By far Carlos Lee was this teams most consistent player while Olivo was the one that was most consistently bad at the plate. Jose was right there with him, minus his typical 2 week stint of crushing the ball. If their was one person to point at to figure out why the Sox didn't make the playoffs, then they would of made the adjustment along time ago and the Sox would of got in. THe fact was the balance of the team was out of whack as was the execution of the team on a whole. Offensively, things will have to change, quite possibly the philosphy needs to be changed. I think those changes will start when Maggs and Konerko are shipped out. In regards to Maggs, it will be a financial reason, with Konerko it will be both.

I think most of us agree that if that deal was available we'd do it. The question is whether the Yanks would or wouldn't. I'm gonna hope they would and it seems like the kind of deal KW could be involved in, of course we know a PTBNL will be involved in some way shape or form
-
When it comes to the Yanks, you have to throw sense out the window. If the Boss has his eyes on a stud RF and is convinced they should move Soriano and Johnson then that is what is going to happen. Will it solve the Yanks, HECK NO, but half of the stuff they do is absolutely ridiculous. All I'm saying is if Soriano for Beltran is a possibility then I see no reason why Soriano for Maggs wouldn't be a possibility.

If I were the Royals I'd do it, cause there is no chance they will sign beltran. I also think Beltran is kind of over-rated and if I were George I'd be scared by his demands. Just cause he is a good player looking for superstar money and he isn't yet a superstar. I beg to differ, his numbers the past two years were stellar and he's a great centerfielder. He's still young and will only get better. And I'd definitely like him out of the division so the Sox wouldn't have to worry about him anymore. 15 or 16 mill a year stellar? He's always been said to have an attitude and I've yet to see him put up MVP numbers. He's always talked about like an MVP and I just feel he is overhyped compared to his numbers, although their is more to a player then numbers. No, but if he was traded to the Yankees, played there for a season and was successful and liked NY, he'd take 10 mil a season from the Yanks because they're going to be a winning team every season. Bottom line is no one is going to give him 15 or 16 mil a season anywhere. Come on abo, you know Boras doesn't ever give anyteam a home town discount, especially the Yanks. 10 bucks says Boras is the one feeding this rumor cause he knows he could get the Boss to shell out 15 or 16 mill a year over 8 or 9 years to Beltran. Did you happen to catch Boras' comments in regards to Pudge playing for less if he stayed in Florida? He said something like no player should take a home town discount or anything like that. He's gonna get good money on the open market and thats where he'll go. If the Marlins make a great offer, then he'll stick around. Thats not the identical quote, but it was something like that. For a long time I've stuck up for Boras, but I thought that was plain dumb. I always thought Boras had his clients best interests at heart, but that comment rubbed me the wrong way as it seemed he was more all about himself then Pudge.

Soriano is 800 K or so Johnson is like 500 K Maggs is 14 mill Paulie is 8.25 mill and if he gets dealt it goes up 500K.

Mo Vaughn Man what a horrible deal that was. I still remember watching his first game in Anaheim and when I saw him fall into the dugout and roll his ankle I looked over at my buddies and siad their goes his career. Little did I know my snide, sarcastic ass comment would turn true. Some other bad contracts are Jeff Weaver's deal, Raul Mondesi's deal, and Darren Dreiforts. I'd call the Kevin Brown deal horrible too along with the money Charles Johnson got.
-
61382, if the Mariners would do that Konerko deal, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If I could find a team willing to take on his or Koch's salary, I'd call that a winner and whatever they got in return would be an added bonus.

I know the Angels are interested in getting at least one of the good starters on the market. My question with Pettite is how are the Astros gonna sign him when they are already really concered over payroll after adding Kent last season. They are really tied up financially to the point they would have to move at least one contract to get Pettite, unless ownership was willing to spend the bucks and right now I'd say the Cubs are gonna be tough to beat out in the central if their pitching stays healthy and they make a few adjustments to their middle infield.
-
Maybe get a 3rd team involved or like I said, wash the Yanks hands of Jeff Weaver and then try to add Koch into the deal as the Yanks may be willing to chance on him being a setupman to Rivera. They have always seemed willing to chance on high priced relievers in the past that are coming off some troublesome seasons (Look at what they paid Hithcock of all people). Weaver and Konerko's contracts wash. If the Yanks get Maggs, then couldn't they move Matsui to CF and let Bernie play LF with Maggs in rf. Or are they not considering that? I mean there aren't any top flight centerfielders out there unless they are going after someone like Mike Cameron.

Their are a ton of guys that could be had to play an outfield position like that. Insert Daubbie and you get solid numbers. Something like he did when he was in Boston and he'll give you a high OBP and won't cost much. I don't have the FA list in front of me, but there will always be a few players capable of doing that.

I'd tell JR, spread it out to two and the chances of it blowing up in your face are a whole lot less. One may suck or get hurt but the odds of both doing it are a lot less. I know Its a pipedream, but if the Sox move Maggs/Konerko and lose out on the Colon sweepstakes then set aside 15 mill on those two guys and get em in here. After that sure up the pen with a signing and then look to cheaper area and get yourself a ss and a vet or two to fill in the bench. If you have 15 mill invested in those two, an extension for garland at say 2.5 mill for a few seasons and Buehrle at 5 mill or so and Loaiza at 4.5 then you have 27 mill invested in your starting rotation. Sure its a lot, but thats what wins games. Consider the fact that you had 22 mill between Konerko/Maggs this year and I'd say the staff is definately the better investment.

The key should be freeing up money so the Sox can have a KILLA pitching staff.

So then you have Reed/Boarchard/Rowand playing Cf and RF? I dont like it. Thats the only prob. with the plan. Robbie actually is pretty important in that mix. No, Soriano would play center. And then one of Reed/Borchard/Rowand would play right. Not sure if thats a great option or not. Then if Thomas goes, you could move Lee to DH and then sign one solid outfielder and then let him play with the others sharing sometime and it wouldn't be terrible. Most likely I'd have Rowand stick around and sign someone with Borchard getting the shot if he had a killer spring. Reed is the future RF/CF imo, but time in Charotte wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Then again Charlotte seems to be the dying zone for sox prospects so maybe we should have him bypass Charlotte. I meant who will play 2B if Robbie wasnt signed. Thats why I said he is kinda imporatant if we signed Soriano. Big bucks shouldn't be spent in that area. I'd spend some money at ss or 2nd and then leave the rest to a cheaper signing so I'd just look for Soriano to play there and find a RF and then let the inhouse guys play center.

And that takes pressure off the Sox in terms of spending big bucks on the pen. As long as Scho is happy, who knows if he would be. Then your pen looks like this: Marte Koch Wright Scho Wunsch Gordon/Sully/Hawkins/FA Munoz/Sanders/Whoever If the pen struggles then the Sox go out and look for something, but I think they should have one spot open for Munoz/Sanders/Rauch or whoever else. I like Wright and Scho in the pen and I think we all love Marte. The key is getting one more stud in there and Hawkins would be my top choice. I know one thing, trading Maggs opens up a lot of options for the Sox and if they can unload Konerko with him, then all of a sudden that rotation has a possibility and thats a rotation that can carry a team and should be able to withstand injuries, especially when you have the likes of Cotts/Rauch/Wright/Show capable of stepping in. If somehow Thomas goes, then the Sox really have things. I think it all starts with the possibility of Nick Johnson and Alfonso Soriano coming here. Those two would be able to come dirt cheap allowing the Sox to spend money in other areas and both of them are gonna be stars. Soriano already is and I like Johnson a whole lot.

Depends on the price. Colon at 14 mill or Ponson at 7...well I'd take Ponson. And if you tell me Ponson and Pettite at a total of 15 mill, then I'd definately go with option B.
