Its about WW1 and their are very detailed descriptions of the trench warfare and such. Very good read.

I'd say politically the North is more liberal mainly because of Berkley/San Fran. I really wouldn't call it much of a huge difference other then the fact when you go up north their is tons of open space while in the SoCal area, as long as your near the coastal areas you don't ever hit any open space. I never have heard of them splitting though.

LMAO, definately glad I passed over reading that too. If the anarchist cook book is what I am thinking of, then the only thing I took away from it, was filling a tennis ball with match-ends and throwing it. I haven't tried it but it sounds intriguing. I think thats the one your thinking off. I remember reading it with my buddies and we'd test blowing s*** up. We always thought it was pretty fun. Never did anything harmful.. We used to dunk a tennis ball in gasoline, light it on fire, and then play handball with it. It was way fun..very safe too as long as you are away from dry brush.

Better go buy the KamaSutra or however you spell it.

Probably gives kids self-esteem issues when they can't find him... I always had trouble finding him on the last page where all the waldos were and you had to find the one with the missing shoe or something.

You'd like All Quiet on the Western Front. Its a rare book that I could just sit and actually read instead of looking at the clock going damn this is taking forever

The Catcher in the Rye was an awesome book. Other books on their that I've read: Of Mice and Men James and the Giant Peach (What the hell?) Adventures of Huck Finn (one of my favorite reads) The Giver (Don't remember much of it; probably one I went with the cliffnote version ) Goosebumps (read like one of them..never liked them but I know they were popular) To Kill A Mocking Bird (Good book) Brave New World (Awesome....much like one of my favorite movies...Gattaca) The Anarchist Cookbook (Learned a few tricks from that ) Wheres Waldo (HUH) One I never read and thank goodness for it: What’s Happening to my Body? Book for Boys: A Growing-Up Guide for Parents & Sons by Lynda Madaras Thats just what I would of wanted...I'd of felt like Jim in American pie.

Agreed..they both rock. They also have lucky which is solid.
  9. I'll pass on Eckstein. Not a high OBP guy and I think he was a fluke. He'll be a bench player in the majors. I wouldn't want him as my starting shortstop.
  10. Well I can't say the Sox season hasn't been a nightmare.

Haven't heard about it...but you are right they are incredibly different.

In regards to California splitting up the only thing I can think of is that he means the democrats and the republicans at a stand still in a sense. Basically if Bustamante wins the state will never be conservative again and imo it will go to hell with all the stupid taxes and laws. I'm not a big fan of taxes and regulations unless they really help. So many things aren't needed and their are so many duplicate forms and things that you have to fill out to get the exact same thing done. Its a royal pain in the neck.

Well basically the registratoin this year has been increased by 2/1/2 times. Mine went up 290 bucks, which really pissed me off. In any other state, my registration fee would be somewhere between 50 and 150 bucks. Instead I get majorly reamed and my entire months paycheck will basically be going to it. I am hoping that the petition going around will get its million signatures and then it will immediately be frozen. McClintock would dump it right when he got in...as would he dump the liscenses to illegals as well as the free school for illegals (or he would be trying too). I think one of hte major things the increased car fees pay for is the education fees for illegal immigrants which really pisses me off since I already am paying for school and I don't think I need to pay for someone elses education. Illegal immigrants were already getting in state tuition..now free...thats a bunch of bs. I don't get free and I live in the state. Albeit I'm lucky and I can afford it (My folks help me out too...but I'm trying not to welch too much off them cause I know grad school will cost money and I'm hoping they'll help me a bit on that). But I know people that have a lot of trouble affording school that have lived in Ca all their life and to see illegals get it for free while they have to wokr their asses off for it really pisses me off. Basically I'm really pissed at a lot of things in California right now and I'm gonna do my part and vote as I have ever since I turned 18. McClintock is the most qualified in my opinion, but I also know that I need to vote for the one who has the best shot to win and if both stay in they have no shot and I know I dno't want bustamante in because the state would be ruined, imo. Hope that helps your question...I'll try and see what the exact breakdown is on the car tax. Another thing I wouldn't mind is if the car tax went soley to constructing new roads...something that helps everyone. Thats basically what the gas tax goes too. So the more you drive the more you pay...so its a very fair tax.
  14. Read today that Garland is gonna get another start.
  15. He's from Chicago...I know that. I've watched him a ton in Anaheim for the past couple years and I like him more and more. Clutch hits...good eye...beautiful swing and I do not lie when I say he's the best 1st baseman in the Al...i'd say he's the best in the majors defensively. Smart player too. He's exactly what the Sox need and he was a big leader on the Angels. I think he's the kind of guy Sox fans would love. And your right, he'd be cheap. He's basically the exact opposite of Konerko.

I'd say the Dodgers...possibly the Orioles. Don't see many teams that would be incredibly interested in him. Call the Angels another possibility, but a doubtful one. Odds are he stays with the Sox...but I think they may just call it an end this year, especially if the Sox are looking to go in another direction. Frank is the greatest White Sox of all time..but like I've said in the past I won't shed tears if he leaves, but I won't complain if he's back, as long as it isn't at 8 mill. The big thing I'd like to see is him moving to the 5 hole and becoming willing to move guys over. If he isn't willing to do that, I wouldn't want him back. I also think knowing the Sox that he will tie up the payroll too much. If the Sox were willing to be at or around 70-75 mill next year then I wouldn't call it much of a problem. But when you have Konerko, Thomas and Koch on the books for over 20 mill..I'd say you have a problem, especially when Maggs is making 14. It is about 36 mill for 4 players. Think how many solid players you could get for that. You could have 7 guys at 5 mill a year, which would give you a ton of depth.
  17. I'd say him and Carlos stepped it up big time. Dissapointments were Buehrle, Konerko, Koch, and Colon. I know Colon stepped it up down the strecth, but I figured 40 wins between Buerhle and Colon was a pretty good liklihood, especially considering the offense. I still would like Colon back, but I wouldn't have a problem if they'd prefer to go a bit cheaper and sign someone like Ponson. I do think somehow and someway they need to move Konerko at the very least. Replace him with Scott Spiezo. Move Frank Thomas to the 5 hole and add Matsui to hit in the 2 hole. Then have Lee in the 3 hole and Maggs in the 4 hole. Right now Frank is more of a 5 hole hitter because he's a straight power guy. Then in the 6 hole you go with Spiezo. Best defensive first basman in the league and he can handle the stick. He also is a switch hitter so it breaks up the righties. Then you have Crede behind him and your centerfielder and then the catcher.
  18. I am excited to see a change here. I don't hate Manuel...but someone has to be blamed for this. I think hands down the big blame gets handed on the players, but Manuel gave them too much slack when they weren't living up to it. I think Manuel will be gone and will be very sucessful as a manager in Philly (I really have a feeling he will be the man to replace Bowa who is gonna get canned). The Sox can then give Backman the job...instead of him leaving the organization and Alomar Jr...will have a minor league position available if he retires. I do like that the players stick up for JM..it shows some of them care at least. I think the big thing with this team is they aren't built to win close games..offensively. Pitching wise its fine. The pen struggled at times but bottom line the pitching staff got the job done so many times. It was the offensive players that didn't execute in key situations (Such as runner on 3rd and less than one out or moving a guy over). Those things had to be stressed more by JM...but the players need to do it. A few changes need to be on the offensive side to improve the teams style of play and mend it more to this liking while still keeping some power. Most importantly get the front 4 of the rotation back and I'd bring back the entire pen. I'd consider moving Wunsch if Munoz or Sanders pitches strong in spring because I believe they both have very bright futures. Cotts could also fit in the pen...although give him some seasoning in AAA so he can fine tune his control and harness the cutter that he will be working on as well as improving his secondary pitches (The curve and the changeup). While the organizatoin is definately a bit weaker at the higher levels...you still have guys that can step in and help. Guys like Felix Diaz, Gary Majewski (I love this kid), Munoz (stud...only 21 and already has a full season in AAA), as well as Sanders (young too), and Rauch (If he can recover). Plus you have Borchard and Reed position wise and then the likes of Harris and Miles in the infield. I know the Sox biggest need is middle infield help and most likely they will have to get it from another organization or the free agent market. Yan is probably the one guy that could do it...if he ever improved the stick. Then in AA you have some solid pitching...starting with Pacheco and Cotts and then a very solid pen with Bullard and Baj. Basically in short...this team is still gonna find itself in a position to win next year and it still has enough depth in the organization to fill holes from within. And at the lower levels their appears to be quite a bit of talent...especially if they can somehow sign those two lefty studs from the past draft..Veal and Moviel.

The candidate I support for governor kicked some major butt during the debate. Arnold did alright while Bustamante appeared rather weak. Huffington and the green party candidate (Name slips me right now...like Carmejo or something) were also their. Arianna and Arnold spat a bit during the debate but on the most part it was a good debate imo. Hands down though McClintock showed he should be the next governor. While no one else really added ideas, McCintock had plans that made sense and should be implemented. You can really see he has a clue on what to do. He has a ton of experience and flat knows the system. Bustamante also kind of knows the system, but I can't stand his policies and I'll likely leave the state once I graduate school if he gets elected. I really think the power of California is on line in this election cause if a bad candidate takes over and then wins the next election then the state will be in deep trouble. Their are a lot of problems here and I really think the best way to solve them is with McClintock. Anyway...don't know if anyone else watched it, but I'm curious to know your take if you did. I so hope Arnold steps down. If they both stay in it...then I will be voting against the recall.
  20. those first two CDs are quality good choice This one for the Kids was so hard to find. Had to order it from Tower of all places, but it was worth it. Every song is freaking awesome from the clips I heard. I love how they use the Violin to give it such an original tone. And well Alk Trio is pretty much my fav right now. Their new cd flat rocks as does Ocean Avenue.

Happy Bday Steff. Make it a good one..
  22. Well I think it will be an interesting story to see how the UN reacts to Bush asking for help. I think he felt things would be easier then they were and its not the case. I still back the mission though. WOMD weren't the big thing for me...it was getting that dictator out of their and freeing the people which was why I was for it. I figured it would be a long process and I expect it to be one.
  23. Watch out...I'm coming on strong after a horrible first week.
  24. Hope you have a good one
