  1. We aren't excactly in a great division. It isn't tough to win our division, simply beat up on the bad teams and you should be in. Thats not saying they win the world series, but the Sox should compete with the Twins, even if they go with a rotation that has Ritchie and Rauch in it. That rotation also has the potential to be pretty good, of course it could also be pretty bad.
  2. One other thing, Palmerio would be an awesome pickup. This guy is the perfect #2 hitter if Rowand flops and he's an awesome 4th outfielder.
  3. No platoon, Jimenez must play. He's our leadoff hitter.
  4. Well, I like Ritchie, especially if we bring him back for like 1.5 mill. Then give one other guy the same price and thats it. It sounds to me like a JR way of doing things.
  5. Well, after that I can't really think of any other defectors that got much money. Contreras is supposed to of been Cuba's best pitcher and it would definately be worth it, but the Sox aren't talking to him.
  6. I am not too big of a Rogers fan. I'd rather have someone like Daal. Rogers doesn't really have too good of stuff and a lot of the time it looks like he lucks through things. Still he would be better then nothing.
  7. It ain't like were going to be meeting up with the Cubs too often. If they went after Randa they'd be fools.
  8. I wouldn't pay Suppan 3 million bucks. I'd take him over JB though.
  9. JB is a great guy, but he's very inconsistent and has never proved a thing at the majors. This guy had one decent season, everything else has been pretty bad.
  10. That was an awesome quote though.
  11. All I know is I'd take the Tribune any day of the week over Jr.
  12. Well if Colon goes to the Marlins, look for the marlins to move him. That move just wouldn't make sense. It would be a real good move by the Expos. I think this is just the Expos trying to make it look like their is still a market. Maybe, just maybe, we can luck up and get one of those two at a good rate.
  13. Sammy Sosa is the 2nd best offensive player in the majors. Say what you want, but the Sox would be nuts if they didnt' want his production and moved him to left. Maggs is amazing too and Maggs is developing, its also hard to go against Sammy. I do think the Cubs would be best off by trading him if he will always continue to tell management what to do.
  14. He always produced well in Texas, I never knew why they didn't ever let him start for a full season, it ain't like they were going anywhere.
  15. St. Louis does a great job getting guys. Their are one of the rare teams that has soley found a way to build itself via trades and free agency, almost nothing from their own system. Of course, you can ocassionally get away with those things when you have a nice high payroll. If the Cards want Buerhle, then I'll ask for Matt Morris and call it a done deal
  16. I still like Ritchie, and I like Daal too. Especially at a one year deal. One year, we can't go wrong with Daal unless we pay him some ridiculous amount.
  17. So they didn't offer him arbitration because they could sign him cheaper. He will be back folks. It has something to do with the fact he wasn't supposed to be a free agent. Guy like Lieber, they were free agents, but the Sox had the rights to Ritchie cause he didn't have enough major league experience. I'm assuming now that they didn't offer him arbitration that other teams could bid on him (Something that couldn't happen before)
  18. I'll do it for ya, give me a day.
  19. I've ripped Mcnair a lot, but he should of been their.
  20. McNabb is gifted, but he is over-hyped. He still has a ways to go when it comes to running a pass attack, but his heart and knack for the play making makes up for it.
  21. So are you saying the Sox have talked with Clemens? Michelle, do you know if the Sox can sign him before May?
  22. Helling or Suppan would both be solid pickups.
  23. Fick would be a starter, imo. Well, he couldn't start cause he can't play center, but if we had Fick, I'd be all for dealing Konerko or lee cause Fick would provide a quality left handed stick.
  24. I do think I could do a decent job of it. The area I woul fail in is developing the minor leagues. I'd basically have to just hire the best scouts out their and let them do the majority of the scouting for me. Then they could pick some of the guys that are really impressive or that they like a lot, and those would be the guys I'd personally scout.

Person and Valdes will probably last a while. Daal may too as he's out their and hasn't recieved much interest other then from the Sox. Oh ya, let me just go on the record as saying that rotation is ugly. Our bullpen will be killed. You have to go into the season expecting Rauch to have plenty of short starts, and we know Biddle can't go deep into games(Until he proves it, then I see it that way). Wright and Garland are pretty good at battling so you can figure 6 innings a game for them and 7 or so from Buerhle, but for pete sake, maybe you only get a combined 9 innings a game from Rauch and Biddle. What does that do to this pen? It KILLS it. They need a guy in here that can throw the innings for sure.
