Thanks for the reminder Alex. Got to make them, but mind is on the Sox right now, lol

I think we all know him and Frank are lousy first baseman, but you could have them both platoon. Still, I'd most like to see Jeff Kent.

Here's some things that would stop it. Payroll.... Also, in all honesty, the Giants deal only makes sense if they dump payroll or it does to a point, meaning we'd be picking up Snow at 7 mill. Of course the Sox don't need to pick up Ritchie at 3 mill, making it an addition of 4 mill to my original post. This means if the Sox could find a way to deal Snow (pick up 3 mill of his salary) or deal Manos they would be able to make the move by adding only 2-3 mill in payroll to what the current payroll is. Another possibility of course is if the Expos would do that so called deal. It would be a real good deal for them, I think, as they'd get Garland, and at least one more real good pitching prospect as well as Harris and a very good offensive outfielder in Carlos Lee.

He is a quality veteran and overall put up decent numbers. Would he really be that bad in the 5 hole, providing left handed power?
-
They were going to for JD Drew but the Cards decided not to give up on J.D. Konerko isn't quite Drew, but he's more proven and still fills a need for them at first.

Here's what i'd love to see happen. Yes, I know it ain't going to happen. Sox deal Konerko for Ortiz and Ainsworth. Sox sign Jeff Kent to a 3yr 15 mill contract to play 1st Sox deal Carlos Lee, Jon Garland, Willie Harris, Josh Paul and Corwin Malone or Brian West and Matt Ginter for Jose Vidro, Michael Barret and Bartolo Colon Lineup Jimenez - ss Vidro - 2nd Kent - 1st Maggs - rf Thomas - DH Crede - 3rd Liefer/Borchard - lf Rowand - cf Olivo/Barret - c Rotation Colon Buerhle Ortiz Wright Ainsworth/Rauch Still have good prospects in the minors as the Sox wouldn't of given up any top prospects other then Harris(Replaced by Vidro) and then Garland(Replaced by Ainsworth) and the pitcher we'd give to the Expos. Just throwing it out their. The Sox would then have to deal Manos, but salary wise, they'd be dealing 11 mill or so when they moved Caballo and Konerko and picking up not too much more.
-
I did consider the fact that the Sox could bring in Mcgriff.
-
Ya, but wouldn't it be great for the Sox to steal their thunder and pull both? I know this, Kent is a better player then Konerko. Attitude wise, Konerko wins, but just production, you got to go with Kent, and if moving Konerko gets you a pitcher of Ortiz's caliber and then Ainsworth, then I'd pull that deal in a heart-beat. Of course we won't get Kent, but just saying if the Sox really wanted to do something, they'd do it.
-
Its been reported on the TV, as well as on the radio or at least I heard it on the radio. They were talking about the Giants moving Ortiz to the Sox and said some sources are saying its for prospects, others saying its for Konerko or Lee. I think the sides are very close, and are just figuring out which way each team wants to go.
-
Well, Kent was looking to sign cheaply. Its too bad the Sox wouldn't pull this deal, then go out and sign Jeff Kent to play first to a 3 yr 15 mill contract. He seems to be willing to take a lot less now, and he'd be a steal at that rate.

SN Report: Koch Deal Done, Sox Get Cotts, Holt
Chisoxfn replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Your right then, it was the Osuna deal. -
I tend to agree with you. I am big on pitching. I like offense too, but right now, I just try to sit back and take things for what they are worth.
-
I'm not saying I support it, but I see some sense to it. I only will support it if the deal makes sense and you can't know that until it is finalized.
-
Yep, we'd have Ainsworth and Rauch as the backup plans in case Ritchie fails, then again maybe the Sox just pass on Ritchie and then if they get Ainsworth and Ortiz they then do the so called Colon deal? Just throwing it out their. It would be very un-Sox like, but it seems like the players we are giving up, aren't the ones the Expos were looking for.
-
Let me just state on the record that I feel this deal only makes sense for the Giants if they don't get Konerko. They seem to be dumping salary so getting PK, who has just signed a long term deal, would be funny. Lee would make some sense if they want him to move to 1st, but I Think strictly prospects makes the most sense from the Giants point of view.
-
I think if we move PK, we are doing one thing right and thats trading a guy while his value is at a peak. The question is are we dealing Konerko or Lee. If we are move either of them and still get Ainsworth and Ortiz, then I will be extremely excited.

Valentine throws a fastball, but mainly uses a slider. Almonte has a very very good circle change and is compared by many to Keith Foulke.
-
Snow makes quite a bit of money. Liefer makes the minimum. Ortiz makes a couple mill, but once he passes through waivers, you can pick him up much cheaper or so I think thats how it works.
-
Rogowski was in a ball, but the Sox feel he is more of a guy to hit for a very high average, but they also see him developing decent power, somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 hr's. I'm interested to know whats going on. So far I haven't gotten enough information to write anything up, as their are just so many names being thrown out their by the media that you just can't know whats true.
-
Interesting. I don't like the idea of giving up PK and minor leaguers, but I like the idea of getting Ainsworth and Ortiz.
-
It was all about Hawk and Whimpy.
-
Munoz also has a fastball with some good life to it. Lefties with a nasty curve and can spot a fastball with movement will be very sucessfull as relievers.
-
I'll pay attention to him, but I think he'll turn into a good middle reliever at best. Thats just me though.
-
I'll let ya know during spring training, then we'll compare your answers when you see them later in the year. I'm assuming that Ring and Munoz will be invited.
-
I'd rather give up West, but you got to give something to get something. I do agree on your take of Malone though. Coming off an injury, I wouldn't want to give up on him. The kid has a ton of potential. I'd like a West, Ginter, and Sanders package instead of giving them Malone and someone else.
