  1. Heres one deal I could think of. Liefer for Ashby. The Dodgers are looking to dump Ashby who is due to make 7.75 mill this final year. He'd be much better then Astachio, imo, and is a veteran that would help the Sox. The question is would JR be willing to take on that much extra salary.
  2. This is a better team then the one that played real good the last part of the season. Another starter would help immensly but this is still a team that will battle the Twins for a playoff spot.

That would probably be around the time they actually sign one of the veteran catchers that should be left. They may also sign someone to a minor league deal around that time. JB, hint hint.
  4. Everyone, I'm going to reiterate here that Josh Fogg is nothing. People figured him out in the second half of last season and he will be nothing more then a 5th starter on a bad team. This guy isn't very good. Kip is decent, but I Don't even know if he will turn into anything that great. He is the only guy that I regret giving up and I will stick to that gun. Everyone who cried over losing Lowe, well that was obviously nothing. I think we can all admit that now. Fogg, ya, you can still say he's going to be good, but I don't buy it. Kip was the only thing we gave up of value and well, he's done good, and the trade would of been real good for us had Ritchie pitched like expected. Ritchie sucked though, but if he redeems himself this year, then the deal will basically turn into a wash or at least not as horrible as everyone says. We didn't give them any cy young award winners or anything like that. Would we like to have Kip back, probably, but I think their are many out their that believe Kip would of never amounted to a hill of beans if he stayed in our organization. He made a bad trade, but everyone, thats life. Plenty of bad deals go down. The A's traded Hinske (The Great Billy Beane) although he did it to get Billy Koch, you don't see everyone crying over that. The Indians dealt Giles, Burnitz and other talented players, but you don't see people continually singlehandedly blaming that move. Also, to say KW depleted the farm system is wrong, because most everyone he dealt never amounted to anything at the major league level. Some of the guys in our system we will use, others go on to help us in other ways. Our organization is still stocked at pitching and the key guys for us to hold onto are the ones that can make it into the rotation. The ones that don't look like they will fit that bill should be hyped and eventually dealt for talent that can help our major league club. You can call me a KW Backer(Although Their are plenty of things I disagree with, namely the fact that he had snitches, so to say). I can't blame him for the Clayton deal. I remember so many people talking about how great that move was, it would shore up our defense. Well it did shore up the defense, but Clayton didn't mesh with the clubhouse. You could say we dealt JB, but what has he done since, plus he wasn't going to come back. He wanted a lot of money so we got Majewski in return (Pitched good, but was just snubbed in the Rule 5). KW has gotten us Willie Harris for Chris Singleton, what a great move that was. Harris has good value and has the potential to be a very good 2nd baseman and threat at the top of the order. He's gotten us Jimenez and Marte. He drafted Honel (This guy is a stud, many think he's the best prospect in all of the minors). KW has done some bad things, but he hasn't killed this team. One trade don't kill a franchise, especially one where you didn't even give up a cy young award winner or perenial all star. If their is someone out their to blame, blame JR. KW has made his faults, but he's looking like he's learning. Go for it, jump on him for not pulling down the Ortiz deal, but right now I can't say he even had an offer on the table. Just cause those names come out don't mean that was the Giants offer and KW turned it down. Rogers never said that. Say that he stalled and its why the Braves made the better offer (I don't see anyone reporting this happenened), but lets admit that the Braves offer blew our offer away. Moss was a damn good lefty, thats 26 and was dominating in his rookie year and they gave up a top 10 prospect in their organization. Blame him for not getting Colon, but last I looked the Yanks or Bosox(Two teams that are always out their trying) haven't exactly gotten him either. It isn't his fault KW won't give him the money to add pitchers. Do you honestly think he wouldn't make a push at a nice free agent if JR told him he had the money to do it? Trust me, any gm would go out and sign a free agent pitcher if the owner let him, they'd be nuts not to. In Closing, Hope I don't piss off too many people with this post, but its how I feel.
  5. Right now I'd say he would be my favorite free agent pick up because I think he has very good stuff and holds hitters down. If he can pitch with control he's nasty.
  6. Well I stick to my opinion. He's a goon and all, but I don't care who we had has gm, I still wouldn't see the Sox going out and getting a ton of great players. It comes down to ownership.
  7. Ya, the Dodgers were interested, but what do they have to offer? I'd take Guillermo Mota, they'd be nuts to give us him though.

I'd love getting Giles, but if the Sox are going to add payroll, I'd like to see it done around a pitcher. Still, Giles would give us an amazing lineup and would add left handed power. If the Pirates were willing to dump him without getting one of our top prospects, I'd do it, and just sign someone like Person for a mill. Either way, I am happy with the team and as long as we add one pitcher(Right now I don't even care who it is if its via free agency) and then get a back up catcher I'll be happy. If we get Orlando Palmerio, I'll be excited.
  9. Come on Michelle, not all Sox fans whine. A lot of them simply expect the Sox to do something bad. Luckily, I'm one of the few of us that is optimistic. I think I got to go steal some more of that Cubbie Koolaid
  10. Well, the only reason I can think of him in not telling us, is he doesn't want to make the players who were involved feel bad or something. Still, he could at least say what the timeline was and if it was true he turned down this deal or if this was a legitimate deal offered.
  11. I do think thats what many said about Mark Buerhle too. Well, I wasn't on any boards at that time, but I'm assuming thats how it was. The guy isn't exactly glowing with ace stuff, he just flat out knows how to pitch and mixes everything so well. He doesn't have any great pitches, just a lot of good ones that he can spot. I'm hoping Stewart is the same way.
  12. I'm thinking I'll mail Jr 10 bucks and we can have Soxnet.net Park I'm going with Yahoo or anyone that is willing to give us enough to get the homer porch and all those cool things. I'll still call it Comiskey either way.
  13. I'm going to ask him what was the offer that was made between you and the Giants. Then I'm also going to ask what his other options are as of right now, other then Plan B. Oh ya, I'll also tell him he's the best gm in the world and that he should send his paychecks to me.
  14. Well, I think we all knew Rithchie would be back. Now it comes down to Rauch, Wright and Garland to grow a lot and Buerhle continuing his growth as the staff ace. Its still a decent rotation, just not as good as one with Ortiz or Colon. This rotatoin is better than last years as the younger players are maturing more and I do think Ritchie will produce.
  15. Is their a way to email him questions? Also, is it possible to listen to that station online?
  16. They are making a big mistake if they think Jeff Kent can play 3rd base. I heard today on the radio that Biggio may move to the outfield.

Don't worry Baggs, Jerry seems very adamant about leaving Manos at short and the will be their as long as he's playing alright.
  18. I tend to agree with you on the lack of lefties in the lineup, but I don't see that changing. The only place we could possibly add left handed pop would be in centerfield, with someone replacing Rowand that could either hit with pop or allow the Sox to move Manos back in the order.
  19. Lets calm down here fellas.
  20. If we could get Encarnacion for Liefer, then I'd do it in a heartbeat.
  21. I'll pass on Ricky. Secondly, the Angels didn't offer him arbitration so he's a free agent, and they can't negotiate with him till May. I don't know why they did it, must be because they are looking for outfield help another way.
  22. He's a free agent, coming from the Angels. I posted all about him a couple threads back, I just don't remember which one.
  23. To me Shinjo is a utility guy too. I like Palmerio a lot.
  24. Alomar has been mentioned as has Kreuter and Lampkin and other veterans.
  25. No one knows that for sure. I don't even think JM knows. Most likely, at least to start things of I'd assume they'd do things like they did near the end of last year with Frank back in the lineup, but if Frank has a good spring training, I'd look for him back in the 3 hole.
