  1. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) I'm praying he shocks everyone and really does prevent any anti-LGBT laws and he tries to help minorities that are here legally. If he can do that he would actually be really, really good for the party going forward and he could have an 8 year stay. Going after illegal immigrants won't hurt him, even with minorities (as the election showed). But not bridging the divide domestically will be very bad for him for 2020 and the party beyond. I agree.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) This is both brilliant and lunacy in the same policy. Like I said, there are actually lots of good things in his plan (again, my opinion), but there are others that are just crazy and others which while they sound great, are probably in reality impossible to do.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:54 AM) He was literally promising to make every one of their dreams come true at his rallies. He's a conman and tens of millions of Americans bought into it. I think you still don't get what happened. He didn't conman tens of millions of Americans, he was the outsider who was different and different outweighed general views of policies. Yes, he made lots of promises (sometimes even contradicting promises) but he talked and talked about change, he talked and talked about bringing jobs back to the rust belt. He talked about stronger immigration...yes in many cases he talked about more extreme stances, but the biggest thing was, he was not a politician and that was what got him elected. I have a lot of the frustrations that the American people have that led them to vote for Trump, the problem was I couldn't turn out those frustrations in a candidate like Trump (I wish there was a better outsider option). But the reality is what the reality is and we now are in this world. We need to see what he does and if he does bad things, then everyone needs to realize maybe we need to do more as a country to make this a better place, to move things, forward, etc. More importantly, people need to work together and that includes our politicians who over the past 12 years have done very little when it comes to economic stimulating policy. They've essentially left it in the fed to give you pain killers while doing nothing to actually solve the problem (90+% of economists would agree with that take). I'm not putting blame on one side or the other, just saying no one wants to work with each other and they will all claim it is the other parties fault.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) Trump personally doesn't seem to actively dislike LGBT. But he also doesn't really care about it very much, as evidenced by his VP choice being extremely anti-LGBT and letting the Family Research Council write the GOP's plank on anti-LGBT. He'll appoint whatever conservative justice his advisers tell him, and he's surrounded himself with people who are anti-LGBT. Why would the GOP update their social views? They won. But the GOP didn't win on their historical views. I don't quite know what views it won on, but it didn't win on that. Trump evidently re-wrote a lot of his victory speech (which I actually thought was a pretty good speech) to supposedly make it more mainstream. No idea how true that is or not.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) Some reasonable stuff, and some lunacy as well. But he didn't really mean he was building a literal wall! And some of the stuff in there, isn't really what you would see out of most conservatives. It is why I wonder if the reality of Trump will differ from the guy trying to get elected. Maybe that is just me hoping. Also, aren't there a lot of reports that Trump isn't all that happy with Pence. A lot of it has to do with the fact that he hasn't specifically thanked him like he did so many of the other people who helped him on the campaign.
  6. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) Ya and she got bludgeoned in the electorate by Donald Trump despite having all of Washington DC, almost every media outlet, popular celebrities, billionaires all backing her. Dems got slaughtered down ballot too. Mark Kirk and Kelly Ayotte are two of the bigger GOP losers and they were 2 of the most vocal never Trumpers. Having chatted with Kelly Ayotte one-on-one on multiple ocassions, she was a very good women and candidate. It is too bad she lost. She is the type of person who I think could have a big role in this country going forward (maybe not now, but a few years from now). I wouldn't be shocked if 8 or 12 years from now she was running for president.
  7. Some items in Trumps 100 day plan are very unconservative like, such as the tax credit and matching for daycare funds. I'm really interested to see who actually gets cabinet positions and how his stance changes now that he is president. If it doesn't change, then we got big problems, if it does change, then I do agree there are things that the government needs to do and act on and that should happen under this admin. The key to me is that you don't just repeal to repeal, you repeal with a real plan in mind that will put us in a better spot. There is a lot on Trumps 1st 100 day list that I can actually agree with, others that I don't agree with, and others that while they sound good, probably aren't actually realistic.
  8. I kind of think he's the type of guy that might get a better pull at the trade deadline (presuming he has a bit better of a year this year as he should be more adjusted to the league). That said, obviously safer to move now (when the risk of injury or falling of a cliff isn't viable).
  9. Well Donald, you won. I didn't vote for you and I didn't want you to win. I hope you prove me wrong and go on to be an amazing president. And for all the politicians out there, I hope every one saw what happened and realized Donald is here because of the republicans and democrats who failed to work together to make America better. I hope we see a much more moderate Trump from here on out and that ultimately his policies will end up falling more in the middle. We shall see, but as an American, I hope you do an amazing job.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 08:02 PM) What's funny is how true this actually is. People severely underestimate the racism in this country. This is a sad, sad day. Kids my age are now left to deal with this mess. I think we underestimated how fed up people were in this country as I think there are a lot of people voting trumpncause they hate our politicians. Not because they agree with Trump but purely because they hate what our politicians had turned into.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) I can't even make a sarcastic remark to you. I'm sorry. I ended up voting for Hillary, but as I feared Trump is a cockroach that survives everything. At this point I just have to pray trump doesn't believe all the s*** he sold and he cond America and really won't do much as president.
  12. Trump will do it. It is over. f*** me.
  13. I assume Trump will win until proven otherwise.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) I think we could be sellers and still make all of those moves. I agree those could be moves of sellers with one exception, Beltran. He isn't signing a deal with a team he knows will be bad. He'll go to a team where he thinks they at least have a chance at contending.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) Wilson and McPhee both came off the PUP list. Now in the NFL, you just place people on season ending IR and you have the option to bring one player back. Fuller and White are both eligible. Pace basically said he thinks White will be back by week 13. So yes, Fuller probably misses the year and gets dealt in the offseason. Such a dumb rule. Given all the stuff about player safety, I don't really understand why they limit it so much. I would think at least having two spots back would make sense (while freeing up roster spots for others). Is the fear you would just hide people on this IR or something?
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) i thought i heard Hub talking about adding and removing people from the IR, and you only had so many you could remove from the IR and activate. Basically what he was saying was if McPhee, Wilson and later White return, then Fuller will not play a down this season. I may have misheard that, but that would truly show that Foxco wants zero part of Fuller, which is insane considering the state of their CBs I believe Wilson can come back and it has no impact on Fuller or White, however, for those players who got hurt during the season (and who weren't out all of training camp) and you could only reactivate one of those (with Fuller & White both being in that camp, so the Bears can only pick one).
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 04:46 PM) So I am about 98% for sure that my 2004 Impala that I drove off of the lot new back in Jan 2004 is toast. I think the transmission is shot. It won't even shift in to a gear now, and it revs the engine like it is trying to go, but it won't grab a gear. Anyways, I am doing a quick look for a replacement. There is a dealership in town that specializes in cars coming off of leases with slightly high miles. I have a lead on a 2015 Jetta SE. The guy let me take it home for the weekend Saturday morning for a test drive. It has 36k miles on it, but he is asking only 12,900 for it. That blows away the prices I have seen anywhere else like on carmax or any of the local dealerships by a couple of thousand dollars for a similar mileage/option situation. After driving it around a bit, I really like it. I had a Mailbu for a rental a couple of months ago after my Impala was sideswiped by an old man, and it was OK. The Jetta blows it away IMO. I am curious if anyone else out there has experience with the line. I know they are cheap because of the Diesel scandal, but this is an automatic gasoline engine with the 2.0L engine in it. Thoughts? So Mike, my general view of Jetta's is they are absolutely pieces of s***. Maintenance and issues galore. I have known few people who owned Jetta's over the years (not necessarily this line, so things could change) and every one indicated they would never own another Jetta. They loved the cars when they bought them too. Please note my comments are more towards stuff built within 2000-2010 so I don't know anyone who has ventured in the past few years, so they could have made improvements.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) 1. Very true. This company doesn't sign anything in these types of "offers" or whatever you want to call them. 2. I'm starting to lean towards not using it yet, it's unfortunate but I know if I was hiring someone then I would feel a bit weirded out at least by it. It sucks for me, because like i said it's a big title promotion and makes me way more attractive (plus the fact that I can market another promotion) but consciously I don't think I can do it. And like you said, I'd expect it to match Linkedin, and I definitely don't feel comfortable putting it out there where my colleagues would see it and know it's not active yet. I would mention though, that big companies, tend to not back down from #1 (they are just operating like many big companies do...they don't like doing things when it isn't part of their normal operating cadence, because that requires more approvals then just doing a standard promotion). They might do something compensation wise, etc, to alleviate the situation though or could even push sooner (depends on what is in the bucket and how much they value you...I don't think they'll instantly say no, but if you've already had a lot of conversations with them on the general subject and the urgency, having another probably wouldn't do anything. On the second point, I agree fully with what Steve said and don't think it would be right to put your title in place. You can mention that you will be promoted in March, but I wouldn't put your title down. Ultimately if a company was interested in you, they will confirm with your current companies HR...when the titles don't line up (presuming who hires you does some quality back ground check...and that is pretty standard), now they are wondering what happened...you can explain it, but they might go...what else is he embeleshing on. Downside > then upside. You can still push the title through discussion anyway and March will be here before you know it.
  19. I guarantee Rose is going to put everything on the court on Friday. I expect him to either have a fantastic performance or just an epically bad performance where he tries but just can't find his shot.
  20. Last night's game was ugly and we were still within two on the road against a good Boston game. Way too many turnovers and Amir Johnson going ham from three point range and we pull it out. Obviously they were short Horford and Crowder went down with an injury as well. That said, the fight remained and we continued to battle. Good signs. Rondo needs to be more aggressive when he has those layup opportunities.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) Cutler is a pretty damn good QB when he doesn't turn the ball over. He was really good last year, and great on Monday night. The other games this year, he would cough it up. I suppose you could blame the o-line for some of it, but for what he's paid, he needs to overcome that, and either get rid of it before a fumble, or throw it away instead of an INT more often. It appears like with Marshall, the new regime's plan was to get rid of Cutler as soon as it made cap sense. Maybe he will change minds the rest of this season. The Bears were looking for QBs for decades, then trade for him. Most everyone thought he was the savior initially. I think Peter King predicted the Bears would win the Super Bowl. I am aftraid cutting him will bring back the same problem. No QB. This years sample size on Jay is so stinking small. He played all of 3 games and got hurt in the 2nd game of the season. In those games, he had a very good 1st half against the Texans (strong defense) and then we collapsed. 2nd game was not good and 3rd was such a small sample size.
  22. Surprise surprise, over the last 3 years, Jay Cutler has had the most roughing the passer penalties which weren't called then any QB in the league. Cam ranked 11th. A lot of journeyman on the list ahead of Cam as well. Always thought Jay never got calls. Was surprised to see Big Ben so high, but kind of makes sense. I bet on the flip side, you'd see Rodgers, Manning, and Brady pretty high on the other side of the list. Part of that comes with star status. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2673101...paign=editorial
  23. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 05:33 AM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 8h8 hours ago BREAKING: Mark Grudzielanek will be the Triple-A Charlotte manager. #WhiteSox I always liked him. Had a long and solid career.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Except winning is the worst thing that can happen. Honestly, if we are going to win like that the rest of the way, I am 100% fine with winning. It wasn't some weak win. That was a totally dominating performance and it was one where our young players came through as well (Floyd was dynamic...Hicks played well...Whitehair continues to excel).
