  1. Interesting. I don't see the point with three days to go and an expiring contract. Why not just not renew the contract.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) Yeah, Jimmy is everything you want in your star player. I love the kids story, and his heart. He was being interviewed during media day and was joking about how he can play point guard. He may not need to joke. Buckets is such a great teammate and just awesome.
  3. I just want to say...for all that is wrong with Rose...all that and then some is right with Butler. He had Dougie McBuckets stay and train with him at his "mansion" in San Diego for a few weeks. Doug said he was getting up at 5:30 but every morning at 5 Jimmy could come storming in to start the training routine. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baske...1001-story.html
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) Very interesting matchup tonight with the Ravens and Steelers. The Ravens CANNOT go 0-4 and the Steelers are fully capable of having an offensive explosion even with Vick as QB. I think the Ravens are still really good and I just cant see them losing this game and pretty much knocking themselves out of contention. They know how important this game is. Trestman effect. Oh and the secondary isn't very good.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) I HATE team anthems or parody songs, they all suck. This one is awesome. https://soundcloud.com/voiceoverdan/derrick...an/derrick-rose This is amazing.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) The big move this year will involved a 3B or C this year. I think we'll spend big bucks on a catcher or 3B.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 12:30 PM) Legally they probably have no case. Morally, I find it disgusting the school did this, especially after the kid had already started the school year. Ar they kicking out students if their parents divorce, or there is an affair? I mean really. Get over your bigoted selves. I completely agree...at the same time, while it takes courage to sue, I don't see how it helps. Putting your kid in the spotlight might help other people's cause, but it negatively impacts your child at that age. You don't want to be the kid who if you google their name a big story comes up. If It were me, I'd be royally pissed and make a stink but I'd never send my kids back to that institution. I would try file a suit to fight for rights of others but I also would understand I'm going to lose. Totally wrong what the school did and so bigoted.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) Interesting, especially given how much DJ and Farmer seem to hate Eaton's defense this year. I know I've said it a few times, but it wouldn't shock me at all if Eaton is dealt this offseason. Absolutely no chance. You don't trade one of your few good position players. Stick him in left where he'd be above average. That said, he's been up and down defensively so you know he has ability to be above average in center. Either way, given the crap we have in the outfield, I'm not going to trade the one serviceable one we have in Eaton.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 16h16 hours ago Jeff Samardzija praised Trayce Thompson's defense, said he should play every day even if "he hits .050." Presume this is a shot at some of our other outfielders too. Should be...Melky and Avi are horrendous out there.
  10. So I saw something indicating closer to 1-2 weeks (that is what they mentioned on ESPN). Has that been confirmed? Or more to come out later today after the surgery?
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) I'd do the same thing with his fame and money. I agree with everything else. I wouldn't. Not even close.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 07:36 AM) His regression could be a number of factors, #1 being Franklin isnt half the offensive coach the BOB is. He also seems to suffer from holding the ball too long waiting for guys to get open. He hasn't shown the smarts / ability to improve. That is a huge red flag for me. I want a QB who has the tools and consistently gets better. Far more likely they can project forward since they've shown an ability to develop and improve already (vs. get worse / stagnate...that reaks of someone who purely gets by on ability and nothing more). I do realize their are other factors, such as talent, that could force you to not be as good, but I want a guy who is a heady football player. Cook and Goff appear to be that guy with Cook being the guy whose done it in a more pro-style attack and who has shown terrific accuracy at times. He gets a little wild outside of the pocket, but that is something that we can work out.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 07:13 AM) Yeah but thats only half of a title. Their last concensus was in 1948 It still counts.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 07:32 AM) If you didn't see it, you really should. I am trying to remember a better defensive play this year, and I cannot. The gif doesn't do it justice as he covered some major ground just to get into position for the full extension dive. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/649227806489055232 http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/video/v50913...Id=clubMEGAMENU Sox haven't had someone capable of his electric defensive plays in the outfield since...well I don't know...I suppose Brian Anderson. Rowand obviously was capable of the spectacular catch but had nowhere near the defensive tools of Trayce. That catch was incredible. Sox have been such an unathletic team over the years and as the league has shifted to being pitching-centric, athleticism has become so much more critical (defense and baserunning).
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 04:00 PM) @AaronLemingNFL: Was told last night that the hope is still to extend Jeffery & at worst tag him. Doubt he goes anywhere. #Bears https://t.co/hkmyl2i60r Common sense would say that is the plan. You don't rebuild in the NFL by trading your young / talented players. Moving Alshon made zero sense to me. You wouldn't get equivalent value. Now moving someone who is going to be gone at the year, okay, that I can get on board with.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) Rumor is Rose took a sex toy to the face. Still waiting for confirmation. I can't lie, I laughed out loud. At least you are a funny professional troll. Waiting for new evidence on Derrick Rose's performance in back to backs and how it is more correlated to all the late night post-game activities.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Hes probably the 3rd best QB in the conference. Thats not 2nd round stuff. Well, one of those guys is the #1 pick if he were eligible this year and the other is #2 or #3 on Mels' big board, so not necessarily a bad thing to be ranked 3rd in comparison to those other guys.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Goff is a volume passer, throwing more than 500 times a season. His stats are great but his overall physical tools dont wow me. Cook plays in a much worse offensive system on a defensively driven team. He's been my top QB since before last season, especially when people were slurping Hack for some reason. I still do not think either one is worth a top 15 pick. I disagree that MSU isnt a power house though. They have been historically and recently. MSU has multiple national titles, thats upper tier stuff. I agree on what you say above, but I do think when it comes to QB's a team will take Goff in the 1st round. Doesn't matter cause i like Cook better and can buy into your historical on MSU but it is relatively recent (grand scheme) that they have gotten back to an elite level. 1966 was last time they won a national championship and it really wasn't until recently that they re-emerged as potential contender. However, to your point, built on defense with a solid offense. Really they are built more like an NFL team then a college team. Cook has gotten better every year. He's getting better and better at reading defenses, improving his footwork, etc. On top of that he has the tools. You look at everything and I think thats a guy who I can project to continue to improve his game at the pro level because their isn't an elite QB today in the NFL who was even close to being the player they were in college. Rodgers is way better...Brady way better...Manning way better. They all took advantage of all the ability to practice, use film, not have to go to school and really hone their craft. Yes you need the tools...but it is the other stuff (along with the mental capacity / smarts) to be able to be one of the best in the league. I think Cook is kind of like Matt Ryan and to be frank, I'm okay with that. You think in retrospect, St. Louis and Miami don't regret taking the Longs over Matt Ryan? I can't think of many examples where a team who picked near the top of the draft and had a need at QB, that went in a different direction, had it work out in their favor. Yes, a lot of teams that take QB will end up having to do it again (due to bust) but going the other direction and ignoring QB when it is a problem seems odd.
  19. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) FWIW I should have pointed out that I'm talking about Kessler in the 2R. This team needs an impact player on defense, that's what I want them to get in the 1R. I will throwup if we use a top 2 or 3 pick on anything but QB. Anything other then that is a failure in my eyes. If we aren't taking QB, we need to move down.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) That is why this FO and coaching staff is sitting soooooooooo pretty. The past regime was soooooooooo historically awful and incompetent that it makes Pace and Fox look like f***ing studs when they wake up every morning and take a s***. Unfortunately, most fans are only so patient and they'll start getting heat faster then any of us would expect (despite how awful the roster is).
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) None of those QB's should be taken in the first round, especially not ones who are in a pass-happy system. I haven't seen any of them approaching the level of a surefire first round pick. Cook is probably tops for me, mostly because he runs a s***ty offensive system very well. Would be shocked if Cook and Goff aren't top 10-15 picks. In fact, I'd be surprised if one of them isn't a #1 overall pick. This is a QB driven league and both of them have a lot of tools. Still a lot to prove but I think because they don't play for the typical powerhouses they get less credit. I also am a fan of Big 10 Qb's in pro-style offenses so I have that bias towards Cook. Goff is doing a lot with a pretty crappy team around him. Again, I really like Cook. He is used to the cold, he is used to a physical conference / play, he plays in a pro offense, has a quick release, and is supposed to be very smart. He also is a winner who has a ton of big game experience (so we've gotten to see the type of "poise" he has and how he handles pressure). All important attributes in a QB, imo. Of all positions in sports, it is QB where smarts become so damn important, in fact, they can overcome physical limitations. Rodgers is insane, but some of the other best are not amazing athletes (neither Manning / Brady / Brees would ever be on the list of biggest arms, fastest QB's, etc).
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) I like that they are cutting bait but I dont want to give them too much credit. Its not their guys they are cutting ties with. It is cutting ties with the mistakes of the old regime which is not that hard to do. I will have more respect when they identify guys that they drafted that aren't what they thought they might be. Even in a good draft you will have two or three that don't produce. The old regime would keep giving those players years and years of chances. Still...it is something the last regime struggled to do.
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 02:36 PM) Know who else is good under pressure(71% of his passes completed)? And PFF(Since you're using them) had ranked ahead of Jared Goff in their top 10 players returning to the Pac 12?....Cody Kessler. Eh, don't care, I don't like Kessler, not in the 1st round. I'd be okay if he was on the Bears this year cause at least you have an unknown with some talent but I like Connor Cook. He's my favorite of the prospects, although a lot can change during the year. I have little faith in USC QB's anyway. System they run is extremely QB friendly. Guy who is awesome is Rosen out of UCLA but moot point. Whose to say Cardale Jones doesn't make strides and move himself back up draft boards.
