White Sox sign Alex Avila
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 09:56 AM) Catchers almost as a rule can't hit. It's better the Sox spend no trade chips on a mediocre guy. This guy is a lot like Geo except left handed. No average, decent OBP, power, decent defensively. He has been the starting catcher on many playoff teams and he is still in his 20's, and signed for less than what Geo received. Exactly. And I'd think in a platoon situation, the odds of him staying healthy / being more productive would be greater. And unlike Geo, this is a platoon that actually makes sense (since you can use Flowers and Avilla to their strength's) and both are good defensive players. This was a really good cheap move and in my opinion, I am content with catcher. Allows Rick and company to focus on more glaring issues. Spending significant resources on catcher, when almost all of them suck, just doesn't make a ton of sense right now (unless you have a rare super elite guy).

He's going to get cut right? Moving him to 3rd string...why not just drop him entirely? Seems like at this point they are done with him. Or are they presuming they can get a pick back from someone else in the off-season?

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 09:52 AM) I really hate the west coast trip. I basically can only talk about the 1st half. You guys want to talk about the first half? I love them. By the time I put my kids down, I can watch on the DVR and usually by the 3rd or 4th I'm on live. Its nice cause I can actually pay attention to technology or other things (cause I hate watching games when I know the results).

White Sox sign Alex Avila
QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 09:38 AM) He's a part time catcher. It's not a bad signing or something to have a strong opinion on. This place is a f***ing joke anymore. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I think most everyone is on board to the Avila move. Hard not to be at the cost.

I don't know if Butler intentionally tripped him or if it was just part of the tumble. Looked like it was intentional but could have been inadvertent. If it was intentional, I'd expect a suspension but league office was reviewing the play when it happened and all he got was the T (probably more for getting in his face afterwards than anything else). Butler and Plumlee had words a couple plays earlier (I noticed...never heard the announcers say anything). Plumlee drilled him after the screen. I love Butler's edge (and also don't really have an issue with Plumlee either). That said, going for the legs is dirty.

I have no issue with this move. Think its more likely he outperforms Soto next year.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 04:48 AM) Lets also keep in mind that Kobe has had multiple catastrophic leg injuries in the past few years, and MJ did not. And he's barely played in two years. I give the excuse to Rose for how long it takes to get back and that same excuse applies to Kobe. I am not saying he'll be prime Kobe, but if he can stay healthy and build his stamina and comfort up, he'll get better.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) They got really lucky tonight. McCollum and Lillard both missed a lot of easy shots. Fantastic defense on that last possession though. Lucky...define luck. Yes, they could have blown it, but they dominated the game and just kept taking the foot off the gas. The Blazers announcers were befuddled as to how the Blazers were even in the game. Right now, the Bulls are extremely hot / cold and I'm not surprised given new coach / system. Rose had a nasty (the good kind) stretch in that 3rd quarter.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 24, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) I'm still waiting for the Bulls offense to look better than it did under Thibs like we were promised. Instead they are much worse offensively than they were last year and even when Thibs was without Rose for entire seasons they weren't this bad. The offense f***ing sucks right now. I look at it as, at times, the offense looks pretty crisp and good and at other times, it is awful. Part of that is because Snell and Niko have had large stretches where they not only can't make a basket, but take a ton of awful shots. That and Rose sometimes plays with the right pace and at other times, doesn't. I have seen some sets where our ball movement and screens, etc, is really impressive. The Blazer announcers were commenting on that at quite a few different times last night about how much movement our offense can have and how hard it can be to defend (when it is going, which at times last night it was, and then everytime we'd explode to the lead, we'd let it back). Defense was largely very impressive.

The best coach on the planet when it comes to football is tight lipped and non-descript. I really don't care. Fox isn't mean, he's just quiet and protective. That is fine. He's done a hell of a job thus far and I don't really care if he doesn't give the media a ton of access. And the media has asked him tough questions, he just ignores the answers or comes back with a sarcastic response. Do you think Pat fans care that Belli is as closed off as he is?

Do you really know how your health insurance works?
QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) Sometimes it does not count towards the OOP max. So that's another thing to verify as well. I believe it is a requirement of all plans compliant with the actual ACA requirements.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) I will run that idea by the in-laws. Actually flying into San Diego instead of SNA this time, managed to find an incredibly cheap flight into there for some reason. I haven't looked at like a 3 day forecast, I'm a day-to-day kind of guy with the weather, but its basically cold (by CA terms) at night (40-50's) and been mid 70's to low 80's for the past week or so.

Do you really know how your health insurance works?
Kev...get an ACA quote and then call a variety of insurance brokers and get a variety of information. Also depending on your income situation, you may be in line for subsidies. I would be very skeptical of something that was non ACA. I'm also very skeptical of sales people in general though. I haven assumed biased that they will tell me whatever I want to get a sale and I test most sales people by asking select questions that I know the answer to and I want to see if they push me in the ethical way or not.

Do you really know how your health insurance works?
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) I'll do my best to explain this. 1) The 800 number on the back of your card can be used to verify and/or answer any questions you may have. 2) The yearly deductible is what you will pay BEFORE insurance kicks in unless otherwise superseded by a listed co-pay. For example, if you have a 500$ deductible, but a 30$ co-pay for a office visit, for regular office visits you will pay the 30$, NOT the deductible. 3) The maximum out of pocket is what kicks in AFTER you've paid your yearly deductible, after this is reached, you are 100% covered for the remainder of the year. 4) This is where hospital charges or in/outpatient charges start kicking in. For example, if you were to break your arm, and the bill is $3500, you are responsible for 1) the deductible, which is $500. This leaves 3000$ remaining. Your insurance will then list a % you are responsible for, for example, 20%. So of that remaining 3000$, you are responsible for an additional 20% UP TO THE YEARLY MAXIMUM. Charges are often separated by a in-network/out-of-network cost. You may see something similar to this: in-network/out-of-network office visit: 25$/40$. In this example, an office visit in-network is 25$, and that same visit to an out-of-network doctor would be 40$. The same goes for non-specialist/specialist: 50$/100$. In that example, a non-specialist would cost you 50$, whereas a specialist is 100$. What is a specialist? A dermatologist is a specialist for skin conditions, where as a general practitioner is just a regular doctor. *** Keep in mind that ONLY FDA approved procedures and tests are covered. If there is an experimental test your doctor recommends, they SHOULD be telling you that insurance MAY NOT cover these charges, as they are not obligated to do so. That doesn't mean they won't, but they don't have to do so. If you have an HMO, ANYTHING your PCP (Primary Care Physician) requests will be covered. Period. If you have a PPO, you will be on the hook for anything uncovered (such as non FDA approved procedures). If you disagree with a charge AFTER fighting it, and still do not agree with the insurance companies assessment, you can ALWAYS request the case go to arbitration. Last but not least, keep in mind that if/when you cannot pay a bill, you CAN negotiate...and if they refuse to do so (they can), you can agree to make monthly payments and these "loans" CAN NEVER BE CHARGED INTEREST. If you owe 2000$, tell the hospital all you can afford to pay is $50 a month...they WILL let you interest free. If you have any questions let me know. One thing to make clear, your deductible payments count towards your maximum out of pocket cost. Your post is a little confusing and could lead some to believe they are seperate.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 05:07 AM) It is really aggravating that Jeffery continues to be injured. The offense gains 399 yard per game and scores 27 points per game with him in, and only gains 305 yards and scores 15.5 yard with him out. I think it is magnified when you are talking about your #1, #2, and #3 wideout really being out. That is a lot of issues. Packers are down just their #1 and look at how much problems Aaron is having right now (of course the Bears will somehow cure it cause he's always money against us).

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) Agreed. The Bears had just failed on 3 straight goal to go plays, why would you bet on them converting 2 in a row just to tie with 10 minutes left? Kick there and then if you get another TD you're winning instead of tying. Don't understand that decision at all. I'm usually an aggressive kind of guy but I was thinking we'd kick the field goal. That said, you are inside the 4 so I think statistically, the stato's would have said to go for it (if you miss, you have them backed up inside the 4, so good probability you get the ball back in good field position). The only thing was, we were totally inept in the red zone. No one could get open.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) Disagree. They had Bennett, Royal, Jeffery and Forte in Detroit and the red zone struggles were happening then as well That was earlier in the season and they win that game if not for their own ineptitude. I'd also point out that was Alshon's first game and Royal has been hobbled anyway. Lets see what they can do when they have actual pieces around him. The greatest current QB on the planet (Rodgers) has had a hell of a time dealing with what I would call, largely, a more talented set of passing targets then the Bears have had most of this year. That receiving corps without Royal / Jeffrey is really really bad. Having Bennett helps (and he had a monster game drawing all those PI's) but in the red zone we started getting more efficient as the team was gelling with Jeffrey. What this offense has done with so many guys out is so impressive. How Jay has kept calm in spite of all this is also very impressive, imo.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
Against that D with those wideouts, amazing we were in the game. We could have just as easily won it, but man it is tough to score in the red zone when you lack playmakers and guys who can get open. Jay had the bad pick, which looked as much a bad throw as a bad decision, but if you factor in all the interference yards, that was a solid offensive performance. He again, by and large, did a great job using his mobility to buy time, just couldn't get it all to work. And unlike past years, despite everything going against him, when push came to shove, we had a shot to send it to OT. The one thing we have done all year in the Gase offense is struggle in the red zone and I fully believe it is because we have rarely had playmakers. When we have had the playmakers we have been just fine in the red zone.
