  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) Today was the deadline to non tender. From what it sounds like, they already have his replacement. Probably some minor things to work out before it is officially announced. True...I'm just surprised they made that bold of a statement before something was done. My theory is nothing is done until it is done.
  2. Jason Castro would be surprising, purely because you'd suspect they'd be looking for a right handed bat. That said, he's been a long term target of Hahn and maybe Hanh learned from Kenny in the sense that Kenny always got his guy.
  3. His performance might have been lousy but he always played hard and I respect that. Wish you all the best with the Braves.
  4. One thing I don't get, what is point of non-tendering now vs. waiting until the extra catcher is actually added? Would seem like we lose leverage by doing this now. Very surprised at the move and interested to see who it is. Presume Navarro but if you are going to make a statement like that and that you have someone else coming, well...why haven't they already been inked.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) I avoid plane conversations like the plague. Yeah - I am Mr. Anti-social on a plane. Polite but I don't go out of my way to engage in a conversation unless I overhear something that I truly find very interesting and then might but in.

QUOTE (MEANS @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) I took it as the ants were the walkers and the cookie was Alexandria. re:Chappas, This first half of the season was pretty poor, probably the worse one yet. By pulling that crap with Glenn now the viewers will not take any death as final. The best part about the show is (like GOT) nobody is safe. If no main characters can die then it's a lot like a prequel where you know certain characters are never truly in danger. I disagree. I thought the first half was one of the best ever and the only reason I hear people upset with the first half is because they didn't like how long they dragged the Glenn story. If people weren't so worked up on that, I think they'd have realized it was a very strong first half of the season. But instead, after Glenn went missing, for 3 episodes (or whatever it was), people purely watched to see what happened to Glenn and ignored the rest of the action in between. And then, because of past events during mid-season finale's they had an expectation for main character death...but instead the writers left it with a cliffhanger and changed things up (to go to the fact that you shouldn't necessarily know what to expect). People also have the concept of Negan in their minds as well and are excited for him so because of all these forwarding looking aspects people are focused on, they ignore the drive along the way, which was, by and large, very entertaining.
  7. Nice win for the Bulls. Noah, who athletically has looked back all year, finally looked like he had the confidence of two years ago. That was a huge performance by him and given how emotional he is, that added confidence could be helpful. I also noticed he was quite irritated a couple times he got pulled late in that game (and I don't blame him). And I agree with Dan, Drose went from one of the most likable stars in the game to one of the most unlikable players to watch I've ever seen. Something about every game i watch where I look at him and just get annoyed cause he looks so damn lazy on the court at times. Looks like me when I play my weekly pick-up games and I'm tired and decide I need to sit-out a play during the game, haha. But the dude is an NBA player. And then on the flip side, Butler is just so damn likable. Rose needs to wake up and realize he needs to find that killer instinct that disappeared. When he plays like he cares, you can see he can still be above average, but that effort / intensity is never their. Need to inject him with some of Noah's passion / energy.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 03:59 AM) Hinrich has a hip pointer And no shock, it came after he played pretty extensive minutes with Rose out (as well as Brooks).
  9. That was a really good article Matt.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 04:34 PM) All these female sideline reporters blend together these days. I don't mean to sound sexist but it's all that's out there. Easy to get lost in the shuffle like Rachel Nichols has, even though she does more pieces than sideline stuff. I like Nichols. She is one of the best, imo. I just pay so little attention to this type of stuff these days (as I have limited time to watch sports so when I do, it is actual sports I'm watching vs. talking heads, etc). Only talking heads I get are on talk radio when driving to/from work, etc.
  11. Rachel Nichols leaving CNN to come back to ESPN. I watch so little ESPN now (other then actual live content) that I didn't realize she was gone (and never noticed her on CNN). Probably a good move on her part. Than again, I usually flip to CNN and skowl at the fact that I can't even get any news and thus change channel immediately. I can't remember what event was going on, but it was a big national event and I first flipped to CNN (always thinking for general news they are pretty good)....yet all I had was some stupid reality type show and I was like what the hell.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) Morgan ran back to her, she picked up a bunch of bullets and ran with him Yeah....meaning Morgan never helped her up. She looked at him and he looked at her and she was like, I got this (didn't say it, but she wanted nothing to do with Morgan and it almost looked like, for a second, Morgan wanted nothing to do with her). Will be interesting how Morgan changes based upon what happened (and what happens to his character).
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 27, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) He may have issues but I remember when Miguel Cabrera had issues as well. Not the same level of talent there but still. Problems now doesn't mean the guy can never mature. I could argue Puig has more talent because he can be an impact defender to go along with being an impact bat. Both were terrific early in their careers with Puig's only down offensive season being in an injury prone 3rd year. This is a talent and I'd love it if the Sox bought low for once, however, I'm also not that up to speed in what just happened (off the field). Sounds like the guy truly is a mess though.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) It's not the tripping that bothers me, it's that tripping basically means that they then are required to wait there with horror on their face until someone comes to help them get back to their feet. I don't think anyone helped her get back on her feet.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) Gronk did not tear acl/mcl, just a sprain. Crazy to see those reports and then walked back. Can't imagine being a pats fan there. Rather fear the worst and then get better news. It would be like the opposite of when I heard Rose had his 2nd injury. When I first heard it was a meniscus I was happy cause I figured he'd be back for the season..then by the next day I learned he was out for the year. As a fan, when someone is carted, I already assume done for the season / significant injury.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) When will people stop tripping in TWD? It'll never not annoy me, especially when someone like Carol does it. Have you ever tripped and fell while running in your entire life? Such a lazy and overdone trope at this point. Technically, when running for you life and dealing with major hurdles, who knows. A lot more probable than say running on a nice and normal track.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 08:54 AM) Me too. Baseball is now kind of boring. I have no tribal rooting interest that needs validation. They won one, they may never again. Whatever, baseball is too slow for me to watch regularly. I have some similar thoughts to this one, however, I think part of the reason we all feel this way is because of how poor a product the Sox have put on the field. It has been truly pitiful and awful to watch. Very few guys are exciting, our defense is terrible. Basically the entire brand of White Sox baseball has stunk for people who enjoy the game and thus it has became extremely pitiful to watch. As I say more now than I did when I was younger, sports are entertainment, you need to be entertained and nothing about the recent Sox stretch has been entertaining (outside of last off-season). They have consistently came out of the gates slow and as a result, have generally been out of contention for the vast majority of the long baseball seasons. Baseball does need to speed its pace of play up. Manfred seems to get that so I'm optimistic of where they will take it.

Buh...that teaser was awesome. I didn't catch it (my DVR had already cut-off). Thanks for sharing.

I expected some more action given the set-up. I think the reality is, the episode was disappointing because we expected more "deaths" than anything else. Instead, it looked like they halted some more of the killing until the return.
  20. USC hated it when they hired Caroll and that was a stroke of genius. Was interesting to me how Miles could go from gone to kept in a matter of a game (with a decision getting made in the 3rd quarter). Kind of crazy to me how irrational people can be.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 07:54 AM) USC names Helton their permanent head coach. What a joke this football program has become I would have sworn they were going to go hard after Chip.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) Cutler's options tomorrow- Matt Forte (?) Zach Miller Josh Bellamy Marc Mariani Deonte Thompson Khari Lee Jeremy Langford Antone Smith Marquess Wilson Cameron Meredith YIKES. Is Jeffrey out as well?
  23. What the hell. Marty is out against the Packers. Royal and Carey are also out.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) Has to be rough getting good mexican in California man! Oh...its awesome...I just meant all this talk about food when I was still hours from lunch.
