QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) Placing the future of your franchise on to a guy who has had two major need surgeries is borderline negligence. I would argue he's had 1 major knee surgery. The other surgery is not very major but unfortunately requires a long rehab time. I have zero doubt that Rose will have the same athleticism as before (I had that doubt when he went down 2 years ago), however, the question is whether he will be able to be healthy.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:20 AM) But even if you blow it up, it isn't going to help the Bulls that much. Get rid of Deng, Boozer, Hinrich, you have enough money to add a Taj Gibson-like player. If Rose isn't Rose, the Bulls will be screwed for a long time. The key to the Bulls future (or 3-5 year future) is Rose, Butler, Mirotic, the Charlotte pick and really to a lesser extent Noah and Taj. I can't say Snell, Teague and Murphy are keys but if they can somehow develop it would be huge since they are young players and clearly we need as many young players to step up. Regarding Noah, if you can move him for nice pieces, you do so. Regarding Deng & Hinrich, again, I look at this as you need to find new parts that can go with what we think is our core and make sure they aren't signed longer then Rose since we really won't be able to rebuild if Rose ends up being a dud, until after his contract is off the books. That or you try and clear space to try and lure a free agent here to be the star w/Rose being the secondary piece that if he's healthy you probably could have a team that could win a title. That means moving Taj, Hinrich, Deng, Noah and Boozer and getting minimum contracts (or expiring contracts + picks in return). Not sure that is so likely.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 07:01 AM) Well the TV would be near our front windows. Hmm. One of my plasmas has windows to the left of it (now i have shutters on those windows and can adjust if needed) but haven't had to. Watching sports on an LCD/LED, specifically high speed sports games like basketball (or as rock pointed out, hockey) look like pure crap on LED/LCD's vs. a plasma. And since 90% of the time, even with my wife in the room, the TV is on sports, it is key that they look good.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 06:54 AM) Eh, I had a plasma in my upstairs living room that gets a decent amount of light and it sucked. There is more glare on a plasma and the viewing angles weren't as good (at least a year and a half or two years ago). If you're talking home theater TV I agree, but LED/LCD's are probably going to be a better bet if you're using it as an everyday TV in a room with light and/or odd angles. The only exception would be certain light situations. But when it comes to best picture, plasma dominates the competition.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 06:47 AM) Yeah, the "Soap Opera Effect" is caused by these sets trying to fake higher refresh rates than the source provides IIRC. It makes everything look horrible. But, you can always turn that garbage off. Most of the "enhancement" features are garbage. Yeah, the power consumption thing is somewhat important to me. Looking around at some specs last night, the expected energy consumption was something like 150W. Not horrible. I also don't leave my sets on for very long and have the "auto-off" features enabled for when I accidentally do, anyway. I can't imagine when screen burn-in would ever really be an issue for me. Most devices these days have their own auto-dimming features anyway on top of whatever the TV itself offers. I was looking at the specs of comparable plasma and LED tvs. Seemed like you're talking about 40lbs for an LED versus maybe 60 for a plasma. That's really not a big deal. Still a hell of a lot more manageable than an old 36" CRT. I'll have to look into the Samsung, I was checking out their LED TVs and some Panasonic plasmas last night. I care about picture quality, not any of the smart TV stuff or 3D. I wish someone would make a high-end display with the extra stuff stripped out at a lower price-point. I hoping Fry's has some plasmas on display that I can go and check out in person before deciding. You really won't find an audio / video guy who would recommend anything but a plasma. People just get drawn to the sex appeal of the LED / LCD (not quite as thin, not the new technology...but still the best technology from a screen perspective).
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 07:12 PM) Apparently they're better about the screen burn in now, but it can still happen. Plasmas are way more inefficient then before and screen burn in can be corrected (and isn't a major issue). Oh and btw, plasma's have a great price point and still have the most beautiful picture and by far the best refresh rate (sports like basketball look far better).

I'm going to say b, but what the hell does it matter. C and A are clearly wrong. D is just semantics. It is an untimed down so if you want to kick it with that untimed down then you can (why would they need to choose).

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) This. I can't even imagine the mindf*** he's goin' through right now. He's going to be more cautious/paranoid than ever. I think it's like 5% he comes back this year. I don't see why. He waited a whole off-season and still got hurt. At this point he should know that it is what it is. If he's cleared, get out there and try.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 01:15 PM) I hate this team. Should note that fair refereeing might have yielded us a win here though No way. They gave up like 300 rushing yards. It should have been closer but we got clocked. Awful defense. Just brutal.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) Their over pursuit of plays is their undoing. Traps kill them every time They also have none of their starting opening day DT's in. They have zero depth at DT. I was f***ing pissed when we didn't sign Idonjie and he'd have made a big difference, imo, in our line this year cause his versatility would have been huge given the injuries. Worse yet the guy we signed instead of him retired before the season started.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 12:10 PM) why are they blaming that on McCowen? It went right through Bush's hands. Wasn't a perfect throw but was definitely catchable. That was one of the big difference plays in the game. Absolutely brutal drop by Bush and the 4th down idea was atrocious too.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 10:19 AM) I think that interference call was weak. First, I think the actual interference was questionable, and no way he catches that ball inbounds. He actually did catch the pass. It was an awful interference call.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 10:16 AM) Loved seeing Conte blown up on the Austin td and taking Shea out with him Conte is absolutely brutal this year. Conte, Bush, and Hester can let the door hit em on the ass after this year. They are all brutal football players, imo.

This game is going to be a big test for our run D and oline.

QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 07:53 AM) Your credit score is basically how good of a customer you are for companies who want you to spend $$$$ on finance charges. The more money you pay in interest, the higher your score. The person who actually pays for things immediately instead of taking out a series of micro-loans receives a lower score. Put money in the bank and pay for those new clothes when you buy them, lower score. Take out a $150 loan to buy those jeans, higher score. Best of all, when you have a high enough score, when you take out that loan for dinner, the interest will be lower. You want a lower interest, just not 0% from paying upfront. Again, nice racket and the credit card industry has done a remarkable marketing job as will be witnessed by the following posts that will defend taking out loans via credit cards. Money paid on interest doesn't help your score. They want to see how responsible you are with your available lines of credit and they also don't want to see you carrying very much credit. If you had access to 100K and had no defaults and had a 1K balance, they wouldn't care at all. The actual payments don't matter. The key is if you are going to close your credit card or a line, just do so at a time when you don't have any major lending needs (e.g., buying a car or a house). That said, there is good interest and bad interest and unless you are in dire straights, credit card interest is BAD interest (of you are doing some promotional thing I suppose). PS: Tex, I'm definitely not telling someone to take a note out on a credit card or anything like that. I've never paid any interest and put everything on my cards. The benefits and card holder protection are fantastic vs. cash. Of course we have strict budgets laid out for each month, etc, and track everything (my wife and I are accountants) so if people don't have the discipline and end up carrying a balance, then I agree with what you are saying.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) Forget this cold weather, heading to Southern California for 10 days in the morning. If we survive the 4-hour flight with an 11-month old. Weather is pretty nice. Just had some rain so the sky is beautiful!

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 08:30 PM) Iowa is really underrated. They can beat a lot of teams depending on their scheme. They really beat you up. Definitely don't want them playing a spread team in a dome or anything but they can compete. Next year we should be pretty good. Ruddock is getting some good experience this year. Ferentz does his best work when people's expectations are low. -
I traded for him last week in my fantasy ball league. My bad…figured I'd buy low on him dealing Rubio. I can't even field a team now. In the past week, about every guy that has gotten hurt has been on my squad.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 21, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Whoever stoke it off her desk is stupid w/ cameras. I had $60 stolen out of my wallet at work a few years ago and the camera caught the girl clear as day. So stupid. I love catching thieves at my club. I'm good at being aware and observing everyone that comes in. They may steal once but they always come back and I get them. It's fun catching these idiots that think they're so sneaky. In California it is a labor violation to have camera's on an individuals desk area.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 05:44 AM) My wife's grandfather, a 90 year old WWII vet who fought at Normandy, died last night. Not very many WWII vets left. Condolences.
