  1. Sick of having news burried in one massive thread. Per Sox radio crew during yesterday's game. This is good news as Danks continues to show progress from his surgery.
  2. Its challenging...which ensures that I continue to grow and develop as a professional.
  3. Booya. I called the walk-off to my wife. First called shot of the year. With a 2-0 count, I told her, watch, he's going to get an elevated fastball and park it...sure enough Tank crushed it!!!
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 08:49 PM) If an administrator has multiple accounts, I don't think it is worth trying to deal with anyway. ss2k5/kyyle/balta will just destroy you so you either play along or get out. But see how "the administrators" always seem to agree with each other? Fishy... i'm amazed you guys haven't figured out that SS2K and Balta are the same person...just two different personalities.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 08:29 AM) I think he was being sarcastic and defending Rose despite the fact that the two situations could not be more different. I refuse to defend Rose. I'm sure if he plays like an MVP again it will all be forgiven but the way he is handling this season disgusts me.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 05:00 PM) While his bro maybe giving bad advice, him being worthless is lay out BS since he was a huge factor in keeping Derrick out of trouble growing up and keeping him on the right path. We have a bunch of Dave Kaplans on this board. Rose is a f***ing p****. He's been practicing for 1.5-2 months at this point. I hate saying it, but thats what he is acting like right now. I hope he redeems himself, but right now, the guy who I once thought had this killer instinct seems very much the opposite. He doesn't have what Kobe and Jordan did, at least at this point he doesn't.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) When are people going to start calling Noah a girl? Seriously. Is this to just rile me up. Noah is a tough dude. Remember the ankle injury he tried playing through during last years playoffs.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 05:15 PM) Wrong. It was never about if they are good enough, it was about their resume. Somehow having the record they did in conference play (in the best conference in the league) should have been worth something. Out of conference might have sucked but they won out of conference and then did a good job in a tough conference. They should have sealed the deal by not blowing some of the close games that they did though.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 06:34 AM) Probables for the first two weeks: vs Royals 4-1 Sale vs Shields 4-3 Peavy vs Santana 4-4 Floyd vs Guthrie vs Mariners 4-5 Quintana vs Beavan 4-6 Axelrod vs Hernandez 4-7 Sale vs Iwakuma at Nationals 4-9 Peavy vs Gonzalez 4-10 Floyd vs Zimmermann 4-11 Quintana vs Haren at Indians 4-12 Axelrod vs Masterson 4-13 Sale vs Jimenez 4-14 Peavy vs Myers Dang...that would have been a fun trip. Go to DC (where I've never been) and caught a Sox game vs. the Nats.
  10. As a UCLA and Iowa fan....I was flabbergasted. Wow is all I can say. I remember being so excited when Iowa hired Alford....that s*** wore out. Now to see UCLA hire him, uggh. It could end up working out. Alford can and should be able to sell but if I were a hard core UCLA person I'd be b****ing and moaning like crazy. I will say his personality is a much better fit and at UCLA he should have the tools to recruit like crazy.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Louis was pretty darn good. I don't necessarily think PFF's numbers are perfect. Now the health of Louis is in question but I'd say Louis/Slauson is a wash. I feel I'm generous in saying it was a wash. Upside wise Louis had a shot to take more steps forward, albeit, you just never know due to the injury (which is why I'm ultimately concluding it as a wash).
  12. QUOTE (Boogua @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) Yes, he has had a positive score on PFF the last three years at guard (not by much, but it's still positive) and has played in every game the last three years. For someone to think he isn't an upgrade is just absurd. Louis was pretty darn good. I don't necessarily think PFF's numbers are perfect. Now the health of Louis is in question but I'd say Louis/Slauson is a wash.
  13. The oline is still bad. Tackle position is upgraded. Guard position is not upgraded. I hope one of the top guards is there in round 1.
  14. Thomas was one of the greatest offensive players to ever play the game in his prime. Konerko isn't. Konerko is very good and may end up having a greater White Sox career then Konerko but I'm taking Frank prime any day of the week. He was amazing prior to his injuries.
  15. You guys really need to take the blinders off. Illinois an elite job. GMAB. Does it have better potential then Iowa or Wisconsin and is it a better job then those schools, absolutely (I only throw Iowa in the mix because I'm an Iowa fan and wanted to show the fact that I am not blinded and don't see Iowa as the better job). It probably is the 4th or 5th best job in the conference but lets not act like you are selling recruits to play in downtown Chicago here. Yes they have a nice recruiting base, but there isn't really a lot that differentiates Illinois from some of the other big midwest schools near Chicago. If Illinois was in downtown or a 15 minute drive from downtown, that would be another story.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) Also, Penguins are clearly the "favorite" for the Cup now. Few weeks ago no one saw that leaving the Hawks. Are you guys just forgetting about the Ducks. They are pretty damn good too.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 06:36 AM) Second time his post has been completely misunderstood (ss2k5). His point wasn't that Illinois is a better job than UCLA, not at all what he was saying. His point was that Illinois is a better job because its lower stress, etc. The hell with that and I don't buy it. Illinois isn't one of the best jobs in its conference. That will make it harder for them to win at the elite level. At UCLA you are the best job in your conference and while their is pressure, these guys are winners and want to win it all. Thats why they do this. A young guy like Shaka...he can fail at UCLA and then go get an Illinois job. He should go for the best. Clearly he's going to stay in his comfort zone until whatever his perfect job is comes to him. People that strive to be the very best at what they do (and that is the case with most of these guys coaching at the D1 level) don't just say ahhh, this is as good as it gets. Maybe at some point they get to that point, but a young upstart, hell no. That isn't his nature so it is a stupid argument to me. If he wants comfort, he can just be the top dog in his little s*** conference and win every year.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 11:16 AM) Last year they ranked in the top 50. White, Basabe and Marble are all really good players. Maybe not lottery picks, but guys that can win you games. If no one transfers or flunks out, if Woodbury gets stronger and plays anywhere near someone 7'1", they will contend for the Big Ten title next year. If they could have closed out games this year, the only team they really couldn't or shouldn't beat was Michigan. Peter Jok was rated #10 prospect in the country by Van Coleman, and they have Uthoff coming to play next year as well. McCaffery is really turning that program around. Agreed. They won't have won and done talent, but they'll have a nice mix of senior's and juniors plus other young players with talent that should work well. Marble is pretty darn good and should be one of the better players in the conference.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 10:38 AM) I honestly dont see them competing for a conference title anytime soon. They should compete for it next year. I said "compete". I'm not saying they are a favorite.
  20. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) While all this may be true, haven't there been strong whispers of NCAA violations as well as Howland generally being a jerk to players/administration? No major NCAA violations that I"ve heard of. His issues were non "coaching" related and were more in relation to how he handled his players and just his overall attitude. He'll be a great hire by someone.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 25, 2013 -> 10:25 AM) Shaka lost out on deciding not to come to Illinois and the Big Ten. Though I read on a message board this week rumors that he was actually much closer to accepting the job than previously thought and his wife basically talked him out of it at the least minute. At this point just be content where you're at, making the tournament and being a cinderella favorite every year. I mean, is the extra million really worth the added pressure of having to win at a program like UCLA? Multiple final fours and conference titles wasn't enough for that delusional fan base. Ya...cause the Illinois job is better then the UCLA job, which he isn't even interested in. If he wants to be great, the UCLA job is the job he should have taken. Howland is out for reasons people aren't talking about. He's a great coach and just an awful people person and the UCLA roster has been a mess and that is why a change is being made. He needs to get out of SoCal, he just doesn't fit there. And I really really like Ben Howland the coach.
