I also am not yet ready to write off Jones Jr. He missed a lot of training camp and yes he had his fumble issues, but he has also shown elite speed in a limited sample size. Lets see how he can grow and what strides he can make in 2nd half of the year.

If Williams plays more aggressive (and to his credit it has been an improvement the past few games), I too like this team more than last years (not the start of the season last years - that team was nuts and playing out of there mind) but in general. It still is an Ayo / Williams taking big steps forward from being a serious contender. With that said - getting Lavine off ball a bit more is going to help his longevity and quite frankly his effectiveness. That said - if Lonzo is actually able to spend November & December getting back in shape and can return in January - I know he will be rusty for a while - but that buys time to improve. Even if he is limited in minutes for the season until he can get a normal off-season, the passing, speed, and defense he can bring would be huge (let alone some extra spacing - as I presume - the one thing he has been able to continue to work on has been his shot (but I might be wrong in that regard).

Ok - I was a little surprised at the cost but as I have had more time to think about this I love it. Not cheap - but he is young, you have cap space, and he is a perfect compliment to Mooney. The main risk seems to be some issues with attitude but I don’t know what to think of Steelers, who under Tomlin always have drama. Juju seemed to like him a lot. But when I think about the Bears - they needed to find a wideout and he has been pretty good early in his career despite shoddy QB play. Tools are very strong so real upside. Beyond that everyone shifts down - so Pringle and Velus and Kmet all benefit a ton as does Fields. And they still have flexibility. Now it will take time for him to get acclimated but Bears offense got a heck of a lot better.

Zero surprise.

I would have no issue if they gave up a 4th rounder for Cooks. They can afford his contract and need a couple wideouts and at least you get some certainty now. That said - I presume a contender might give up more for Cooks.

Pedro Grifol named White Sox manager; Katz asked to return per Rosey
This also seems very good - geeze - this looks too good to be true (at least at the start of this).

So far so good

I also wonder if part of this also had to do with how Roquan was handling the Quinn trade / just how the whole contract thing went. There were enough rumblings in the past around how he handled himself (that random series of inactives with no clarity) and just how the hold out happened. He seemed to play hard - but if Roquan wasn't fitting in / wasn't happy (which I imagine losing Quinn impacted him), sometimes that can be the final straw in forcing the hand. This is me speculating so could be completely wrong and this was entirely football based (and as I've already said - I can't argue it from a pure football perspective anyway).

Do Broncos have money to franchise Chubb and/or give him a massive contract?

I am guessing Montgomery and Ejax are the other two that get dealt. The only reason I doubt Montgomery is whether the Poles wants to move anyone on the offensive side of the ball given the traction they have had. Herbert is clearly very good - but the combo of Herbert / Montgomery is stellar (there running styles are so different - both good - but different - that it almost makes them both better). I would hope if you move Montgomery you are talking about a 3rd rounder +. Not sure I move him for just a 4th rounder - but I get it if they did. Now if the Jets wanted to do a swap of Moore for Montgomery (player for player) - I would be interested, but probably not going to happen. One other thing - if Bears get a high pick - Poles could very well still be trading down for more assets and than they will be in the type of spot where they can move around a lot to get players they want too (when you have a lot of picks - flexibility in the draft increases significantly).

At this point - I wonder if ejax is next.

I can’t blame them - would have liked a bit more compensation wise but they need to hit restart and I don’t blame them for not wanting to spend 20M on a linebacker.

Bmags - it is why I don’t mind the idea of an older Mike Evans as long as they are smart about it. But they need one plus a pick. Maybe use money on a free agent oline man and dline add.

Yeah - the defense stunk but Fields made a lot of good throws and the offense looked decent as a hole. Fields had 35 yards on ground taken away on an awful phantom holding call too. But this felt like a game where even more yards were left out there and they did score 29. Talent level is weak but more and more flash from Fields. I would still like to see him get rid of hit sooner / take less hits when he drops back to pass. Love the design run plays though.

Frank Thomas called out as ‘douchebag’ by ex-teammate in new book
I don’t know how Frank was in the lockeroom - but I do know he is just a kind dude in real life. Have heard that from many people who have met him, whether randomly or who over time built up relationships with him. Just a good dude.

$125M in cap space for Bears next year - not that it means they should spend massively in FA - but they clearly can afford some spending. Hopefully they can also grade it to where they do some short / interim free agent moves to make team better - while at same time maintaining flexibility to start to allocated more cap space to resigning our draft picks and hopefully emerging young talent (hoping that in the future this team drafts better and starts to take more of an approach of stockpiling picks - whether via trade down / other options).

The problem is - that 4th round pick is basically a 5th rounder. If they picked up cap space - I would have thought they might have had a chance for more or gotten another future pick. So say a 4th rounder this year and a 4th rounder the following year. But hey - I'll take it. I'm really watching the Rams & Montgomery.

Damn - a 4th rounder. I hope it is a pick that isn't the Eagles cause that is going to be basically a 5th rounder. They could have for sure gotten a 3rd rounder before the season started (and than some).

I was just talking to an Eagles fan. Fingers crossed they picked up salary and somehow got a 3rd rounder.

They wil have to rethink how they pressure the passer and likely it keeps a spy which makes the wideouts and rest of the field more open. Really loved the game plan yesterday and the aggressive way Fields played.

You do that a bit more and all of a sudden the passing options are going to be a lot better. That was fun.
