Blow it up. Bunch of ducking bums. Donovan sucks. Pathetic. And Lavine had a bad night but really - you are going to bench him and promote more Derozan iso. Don’t get me wrong Derozan had a great game and Lavine sucked but Derozan iso was the death of this squad a year ago. Blow this s%*# up.

I'm going Belly. He's a better defender, younger, and at least is coming off a season he played. Plus the shift moving and some extra hunger - who knows. The other thing I'd point out - he can play multiple outfield positions well (i.e., CF), so if you pivvot Robert or need to reset, it increaess flexibility. So yeah - I like Belly a lot. He could flame out - but I still see his value as a base runner and defender as creating a good floor.

I see him on the Sox.

And not to nitpick - but Favre won a superbowl and Rodgers won a superbowl. So that is 2 superbowls and they were competitive that entire window. It goes back to - it is hard to win a superbowl, let alone multiple ones.

Does the removal of the shift help him though.

I agree and expect we will see Poles invest free agent money in the lines (and probably a high draft pick on one of the lines as well). I will also state that Fields took a bit more hits this last game (or what looked to me as bigger hits), but in general, I like the way they have used him in the design runs as they seem to minimize the contact and he has done a good job of that, but reality is - more you run, more likely you are to get popped (hopefully he has that Wilson / Jackson in him where they just have that knack for not taking the shot).

This is why when they drafted him - I always thought his floor was relatively high, because his pure athleticism would allow him to get away with other weaknesses, and if he ever developed as a passer (really in terms of the speed of him getting the ball out - cause as a pure thrower, he is pretty damn good on intermediate to deep balls), than we are talking about a special player with generational talent. And at this point - once Claypool gets integrated and as they add another weapon, I am buying a trend of Fields becoming a more dynamic passer. Defenses will have to scheme for him - which will create a ton more match-ups, both for the rushing game and for the wideouts. The big place is - we got to see Fields show more comfort using the middle of the field and with more spies, etc - that middle of the field should open up, so when he makes that adjustment/shows that growth - we'll start to see even more upside.

I don't disagree with Jack. RG III had a stretch like this and we know what happened to him. Maybe not the same from a pure rushing yards perspective, but he was very dominant and than bam. I just hope the "bam" that happens with Fields is a good bam, like wow, now he's dissecting defenses vis a vi the air a lot more. But he's been an improved passer these last 4 quarters as well, so the growth is evident in all facets. But if we expect him to run like this for his entire career - at best, he has a Cam Newton like arch (which is not bad - by any stretch - it will just be a high probability of a shorter duration career). He has a better arm than Cam so I think he can defy all odds and there is a possibility he becomes a totally dynamic superstar. But I am not ready to anoint him yet. I am ready to make sure the Bears find an adequate back-up who plays a similar style (not saying they will be Fields). And people will call me crazy, but when Mitch is ready to be a back-up, I think he would be a TREMENDOUS back up in this system. Mariotta is the other guy I would sign as a back-up for Fields.

Fields had some great plays but a lot to learn from in the game as well. Penalties were brutal and Jaylon Johnson was a total turd today. Sanborn made some flash plays. Fields took more hits than I would have liked in this game but some growth and the bounce back from that int was nice.

Unless the Sox have finally learned some PR - undersell the fans and press. Set expectations low - than come in and surprise. In all honesty - way smarter than what they did the past 2-3 years where they rised off-season expectations only to sign all the relievers.

Has Mookie played 2nd? Edit: I guess he came up in the minors as a 2B and played 7 games with the Dodgers there each of the past 2 years; Still seems odd to move him from a position where he is one of the very best defensively.

He was not a bad coach and he will get another chance. But yeah - at some point you got to take a shot on you know, non retreat QB's. Than again - look at the Seahawks this year.

I think his overthrows are more a pattern of his timing - and if he isn't in synch he can get mechanically out of whack with his footwork, etc. Otherwise - he is a pretty darn good downfield passer. I've noticed more of his issues on the shorter to intermediate stuff but even as of late that seems to have been trending upwards - again - going back to he just seems to be playing with a lot more confidence and letting things rip (or taking off) in a more instinctual way (vs. where you could see he was overthinking / playing slow). And I do agree with Tru on one thing - Fields has to show he can throw the ball more consistently and have those games too. Cause we will see teams really scheme to stop his run and that is going to create more stuff open, especially in the middle of the field - which is the area I think Fields has been weakest (he tends to throw to the sidelines and downfield but rarely in the middle of the field. We need to see that part of his game elevate - if he does that and continues to grow (and stay healthy) - he has the chance to be a pretty special player.

I thought it said nfc - ok nfc north - I can buy that. Either way great progress. Let’s hope we keep continuing with the offensive growth!

I am sure that whole call was staged.

I also am not yet ready to write off Jones Jr. He missed a lot of training camp and yes he had his fumble issues, but he has also shown elite speed in a limited sample size. Lets see how he can grow and what strides he can make in 2nd half of the year.

If Williams plays more aggressive (and to his credit it has been an improvement the past few games), I too like this team more than last years (not the start of the season last years - that team was nuts and playing out of there mind) but in general. It still is an Ayo / Williams taking big steps forward from being a serious contender. With that said - getting Lavine off ball a bit more is going to help his longevity and quite frankly his effectiveness. That said - if Lonzo is actually able to spend November & December getting back in shape and can return in January - I know he will be rusty for a while - but that buys time to improve. Even if he is limited in minutes for the season until he can get a normal off-season, the passing, speed, and defense he can bring would be huge (let alone some extra spacing - as I presume - the one thing he has been able to continue to work on has been his shot (but I might be wrong in that regard).

Ok - I was a little surprised at the cost but as I have had more time to think about this I love it. Not cheap - but he is young, you have cap space, and he is a perfect compliment to Mooney. The main risk seems to be some issues with attitude but I don’t know what to think of Steelers, who under Tomlin always have drama. Juju seemed to like him a lot. But when I think about the Bears - they needed to find a wideout and he has been pretty good early in his career despite shoddy QB play. Tools are very strong so real upside. Beyond that everyone shifts down - so Pringle and Velus and Kmet all benefit a ton as does Fields. And they still have flexibility. Now it will take time for him to get acclimated but Bears offense got a heck of a lot better.

I would have no issue if they gave up a 4th rounder for Cooks. They can afford his contract and need a couple wideouts and at least you get some certainty now. That said - I presume a contender might give up more for Cooks.

I also wonder if part of this also had to do with how Roquan was handling the Quinn trade / just how the whole contract thing went. There were enough rumblings in the past around how he handled himself (that random series of inactives with no clarity) and just how the hold out happened. He seemed to play hard - but if Roquan wasn't fitting in / wasn't happy (which I imagine losing Quinn impacted him), sometimes that can be the final straw in forcing the hand. This is me speculating so could be completely wrong and this was entirely football based (and as I've already said - I can't argue it from a pure football perspective anyway).
