Yet another garbage offensive performance…nothing changes. The standard top To bottom for this org is just pathetic.

2022-23 NFL Season thread
Saw this somewhere else - but what about a trade with the Steelers for Claypool and maybe a pick.

2022-23 NFL Season thread
I like Roquan - but I still say I would have traded him (and did say so) in the off-season. Get more picks / dangle him for one of the wideouts that was on the market. With that said - I still expect Bears/Roquan will agree and this is all part of the negotiation. I am perfectly fine and understand why Roquan is doing this but also really respect how Poles is tackling this in the sense that he isn't just caving and seems to understand positional value etc much more so than Pace who kind of just threw money all over the place and never seemed very shrewd / tight in terms of prioritization / big picture. If someone offered a 1st - I would do it, but I doubt he gets that much - but if you could get 2 2nd's (maybe one this year and another the following year) - I am fair game. I am also curious if you happen to see a player for player type of trade here.

Guardians DFA Franmil Reyes, release Bobby Bradley
Doesn’t it go by leagues or am I making that up? If so than this means Sox passed on him.

Menechino is movable
I am convinced no one wants to get rid of a coach on this team because of the stories that would come out on the sheer incompetence.

An absolute legend. Such a sad day in sports.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
Maybe this was next level genius - TLR was demanding a left handed bat and more relievers, Hahn called his bluff and gave him nothing, with the hope that TLR is going to announce his retirement later today, which quite frankly, would be such a massive step in the right direction, I could leave with no other moves. But in reality - this really completes the 12 months of dysfunction that truly got real at least years deadline and have just steadily derailed from there.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
With all this said - I fully expect Ian Happ and wouldn't be shocked at Happ and Contreras type of move.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
There were signs - but they also had plenty of good moves and at the time didn't need to push all the chips in. Technically they made some good moves other than the mgr (Lynn was a good move at the time and they brought Rodon back). I never liked the TLR move. Reality is was they should have went harder for Machado and Harper - but there wasn't the same mandate that there would eventually be - but it increased future risk and they did nothing. Outcomes matter and the outcomes got a heck of a lot worse at deadline last year and basically everything seen has been a disaster (and they have essentially been a .500 team since last years trade deadline to now after playing ridiculous baseball for the COVID season and pre-last years deadline.

Trade Rumors Catch-all
Honestly - it was last year at the deadline where the Sox truly lost me - I was vocal than and than continued this off-season with there absolute pathetic use of resources. This just seems to be the bottoming out and the reality that there will be an entirely new regime starting in the off-season. The amount of money and resources this team has put on mediocre and depth guys vs. focusing on top talent is just mind blowing (and that is all on Rick - I can give him a pass for the TLR fiasco but he is not innocent).

Juan Soto/Josh Bell to Padres official
Could Hosmer play the outfield?

What would you trade Giolito for
THey probably should move him - if they could get a nice cost-controlled package. Now or in the off-season as part of the bigger retool, which better include a whole new cast of characters running / managing things.

Shane Riordan sucks and knows nothing
How long is happ under team control?
-
And that's a Wild Pitch Winner!
That is the point - even less likely so have fun and let loose. None of that happened which is no shock given how tight and lousy they play.
-
And that's a Wild Pitch Winner!
Nice win - but something about this team. Usually a walk off teams are going nuts - this team just didn't look the part - especially a wild pitch walk off.

I'm guessing vertigo.

If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.
The last time they tried for someone like this - they wouldn't take on Dontrell Willis. I have to imagine in this high stakes game with the amount of $ you'd have to committ to Soto + having to take on a contract, there is zero chance the Sox are in on this. But it would be total White Sox - do it all now when you have to give up talent and everything else vs. just have played ball with Harper or Machado in a depressed market.

Could they acquire Bryce Harper?

2022-23 NFL Season thread
It is interesting - Goldman was a really good player and I respect the fact that he is entitled to do what he wants. I am curious what it was that drove him to retire both times. I'm guessing its a - I made enough money and don't want to risk my body any more than I need to view (which I can 110% respect).

Are you buying a LHH ar the deadline?
If it isn’t Soto…Kete Marte or Chisholm would still look good. Marte probably more realistic and maybe you do him and than swing Eloy for someone else (if you wanted to retool a bit). If they wanted to go cheaper - go acquire Hernandez from the Nats. Older Cuban who is a good hitter, especially vs righties. Not very athletic and minimal upside but solid bat from left side (meh defense at best). Not my preference but a cheap option. His stats have gotten worse each month this year though.

2022 draft Day 2, rounds 3-10
By the way - I had a totally crazy idea regarding the MLB draft. What if the lower levels of minor leagues were basically run by MLB and instead you had a draft really focused on the top talent that was ready - so when you were finally set to draft - you were basically picking guys that are going to be on your major league roster or essentially one affiliated / development squad. I don't know how to do it and whether it is good or not - but baseball is the sole sport where the draft players don't really show up at the major league level for a while and that is why the draft just doesn't get the same ratings. If instead - you had draft picks (which by the way you could trade) and you really would be looking at say a 5 round draft of pretty much major league ready players - boy would that make for tv (let alone the drama in the trades - i.e, a rebuilding team could trade vets for picks that would likely make much more immediate impacts - allowing potentially for quicker rebuilds, etc). Like I said - this is probably a terrible idea - but if MLB wanted to make the draft big time - the only way I see it happening is find a way where more MLB ready talent is actually eligible for the draft (especially the first few rounds). Could you imagine a draft where the AA version of Mike Trout was available.
