  1. Honestly - this seems really logical. I'm not big on Cueto, but he's an experienced veteran and if you get the version from last year and he can at least stay healthy half the season - it isn't a bad thing (relative to the other choices). At this point - I don't think they can afford not to bring in a guy like him. But I would have preferred the Sox did like 100 different things because the starting rotation was always there biggest need from day 1 of the offseason (and I was consistently on record indicating such).
  2. It should start to normalize back to normal. I am going to close this thread (but sometimes it uses algo's to optimize on its own and than we adjust them back to try to keep it with our brand). With the obvious caveat that advertising does help keep the lights on in terms of the dedicated server that we use to run this place
  3. Same people - but this partnership with SoxMachine will help ensure that FutureSox can continue cranking out the high quality content (in fact - this should enable FS to actually put out even better content as it will enable its team to really focus on where its passion is (covering our farm system vs. maintaining the upkeep of the website, etc). This partnership would happen with just any blog - but SoxMachine is one of the last true independents in the Sox hemisphere and this partnership ultimately aligns two long-term independents to be one stronger independent - which nice joint affiliation.
  4. This would be one of the worse trades in White Sox history.
  5. Its a different question though - one ties up multiple years and the other doesn't. There is a value on flexibility (even though I too was a big proponent of Suzuki).
  6. Yep - I corrected my post - I had misread that originally. Either way - if he produces like he did last year - he is worth $15M (not knowing exactly how the payroll went back and forth, etc).
  7. Plus - am I mistaken - because isn't it technically 1yr of 15M or 2yr of 20M (which if Pollock produces like he did last year - I don't see any reason you would make it a 1yr deal. And Pederson not on any level as good as Pollock (other than he hits left handed). ' Edit: My fault since it is a player option (vs. team).
  8. I still go back to - derozan has been great but he has became way too iso and totally needs to make adjustments to drive better flow in the offense. I don’t get why Jones Jr and Brown are completely relegated to bench these days either. Especially Jones Jr.
  9. I don’t understand how this offense went from free flowing to total crap. Donovan, Derozan and Lavine got to fix this nonsense.
  10. Nice after reading about him he seems like a solid pickup. Not a great player but solid with maybe a bit of upside.
  11. Beasley might be annoying - but his skill set is one that should help someone like Fields. So I would be a fan of the move. They need draft picks but they also need quality wideouts too. Jarvis Landry intrigues me if he eventually is willing to sign a more fair deal. My guess is you could get him on a 1yr deal that has minimal long term cap implications but helps Fields in the shorter term.
  12. Derozan and Bulls played good in 4th quarter (not good enough though)...but Derozan has to stop being a black hole late. Lavine was the better player most of the game, made a nice stop on one end and literally knew (as did rest of the Bulls) that Derozan was jacking something up no matter what. That offense DOESN't work.
  13. I thought the opposite - like - he was thrown off for a bit - but his reaction was too much of a keep rolling which just seemed so unreal. Like if someone got up on stage and hit me - I am fairly certain I would have walked off (I'm not a fighter) and just de-escalated it that way but i certainly wouldn't have jumped right back into it and been as unfazed as he was (other than the random - wow or whatever he said).
  14. Conforto is not a good fielder. He is a lefty - but spending 100M and 5 years on a lefty probably isn't the difference in this club making the series or not. I'd rather spend that money on a Gio long term deal while leveraging some of our internal options a bit better.
  15. And I won't ever disagree with it. Going 4 or 5 years on the outfielder people want is just crazy. It works for 1 year, 2 years at best and even than it will be an overpay. Conforto is just not that good and I'm not giving 4-5 years on someone coming off his worse year in his career...nope. A front-line starting pitcher, a cost controlled guy like Ketel Marte (who is a true difference maker I can see). I would have been fine with Correa (even without a position) cause he's an elite level talent. Go right ahead. Conforto is not that and while he is left handed the reality is he is, just like the many other RF options we have, a lousy defensive outfielder (which is my real problem).
  16. Fantastic news. Now to hope it doesn't have any lingering effects.
  17. Is it for sure that he actually made contact with him? I haven't followed this very closely but the one shot I saw made me wonder if he actually made contact. If he did - I have no idea how Chris Rock wasn't more impacted by it. Like if someone just cold clocked me I don't think I would have reacted in that same manner (in terms of not being at the very least stunned).
