Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud

It was one of the names thrown around for Kimbrel. Sox had pretty strong ask for Kimbrel (w/dodgers). I assumed they wouldn’t get it but based upon what they were asking it showed me they thought he had a market or they were only trading him if they could get something meaty. My intel didn’t come from someone with ties to Sox thinking but Dodgers weren’t yet ready to budge and my contact didn’t think they would budge (but that could have changed). I did expect a deal with Dodgers to be one where Sox got payroll back (vs adding to payroll for Kenley). I am kind of excited now that Kenley left…maybe it means they could reach a deal that works for Sox. -

Rip - total legend. Prayers to his family and friends.

Dang - He was young enough that I was really hoping Bears would get him, he'd stay healthy, and we'd see him benefit from not having Big Ben (who just wasn't good those last few years). Juju ran some narely routes and really could play the slot exceptionally well (which is such a great outlet for someone like Fields).
-
Wow - I mean I do get it - Watson is pretty special when he was healthy but that is a massive risk (with the off-field stuff etc). That said - I have to think based upon the teams going in on this, that there was enough intel via investigations etc that there wasn't substance behind the allegations, etc. Still - so much money but if you are going to do it - I always say, do it for the QB.
-
Bears sign DE Al-Quadin Muhammad to 2yr 10M deal (per Schefter). He played DE for Colts last season. Seems like a pretty solid signing.
-
Giving up 2 high picks + massive contract is stupid for anything other than QB or for maybe an LT (to pair with your QB) or some final piece that you think is going to win you a super bowl. This move does NONE of those things for the Raiders and is stupid use of assets and finances. Just like the Bears trade for Mack was STUPID than and stupid now (and I said it than and say it now). It isn't just the 2 picks, it is the 2 picks plus an ABSURD use of cap space on a wideout who probably has 1-2 years before he drops of (if not sooner). Adams is a stud, I don't think he's just good because he's played with Rodgers, but he is old and only going to get older.
-
I am thinking they will sign Fisher. He won't get as much LT money as Armstead and was solid last year (his first year back from the serious Achilles injury - or whatever it is). He is 31 years old (so older - but tackles seem to hold up pretty decent). Poles should have familiarity with his time w/Chiefs and Eber from his time w/Colts. He started year not as good - but got better and better as season progressed.
-
I fully expect it. He will play 2 years max with Colorado - than end up at a trade destination of his choice for the remainder of his contract. He gets maximum value and eventually spends bulk of his career in a place he wants to be.

So I don't think Pringle is anything more than a 3 or 4 and to assume anything more is nonsense. Byrd was almost the opposite of Pringle in sense that he racked up his yards and stats on a horrific wide receiver corps (ala Ron Mercer on those crappy Bulls teams...someone had to score). Pringle isn't that - but they need bodies and he is a pretty reasonable body to get (but they better have there eyes set on a few more potential difference makers/young players).
-
I kind of think of it as - he is waiting the market out because he doesn't want to go multiple years with the players out there. I also think there is truth he is in on some of the olineman. Honestly - I like the patient approach right now, but I do agree with you he has to target wideout. With that said - maybe he is planning on taking wide receivers with 2 or 3 of his first picks and just ignoring the defense (other than depth moves etc) and on offense he wants to see what he has in his tackles (I still see we will see a good olineman added in FA). That said - if the above was his plan - I would also move Quinn now too (which could still be in progress) and with those extra picks basically just focus most of my draft on wideout, oline, and probably DB (and find defensive value bargain shopping on Day 2 / Day 3 free agents). Know he will have more assets next year - a better view of Fields and plenty of cap space and defensive coaches you believe in to make most of your D. And in that scenario, if Fields doesn't step up, no biggie, cause you already have a better foundation set (offensively) for the next QB (and a likely high pick cause the team designed above is going to stink (and thats okay), no matter how good Fields is), plus plenty of cap space - and a defensive coach I believe in to develop that side of the ball.
-
Wow - that was unexpected. Is Justin Jones any good?
-
Let me go on record for how horrific the Adams move was from the Raiders perspective and how fantastic it was from Packers perspective.
-
I can't argue this one. I don't know much about him but he was solid enough last year and Poles should be familiar. I presume $ will be small / reasonable and you need some players. With that said - how is he 3 years in the NFL but 29 years old or something? Did he play in AFL or some other league for a long time or was he some super old collegiate player (or go on a mission / do service time in an academy)?
-
So I think the Packers & Goodell should do a hidden cam prank on Rodgers and announce the first pick the Packers make as whatever best available QB is on the board. Have a hidden cam following Rodgers (get his reaction)...than Goodell can go....sorry, correction, with the x pick in the 2022 draft, the Packers select wide receiver....

Stupid Richmond...Stupid Hawkeyes....why do I get my hopes up every year come tourney time
-
Yeah - it’s more I think he has to conserve and that means defensively it just doesn’t work. What I don’t know is come playoff time does it look different and does he have another level that doesn’t cause his body to explode.
-
Not if they move him with other parts for a better player. I don't think that admits a flop - that is just a step up from your initial move. But with that said - I don't think this front office has that sort of attachment. I also think a lot of this would be different if they had a 100% Lavine and not a 70% (or whatever e is) Lavine.
-
Vuc isn't part of the LT (IMO). I think he gets flipped in the off-season with others.
-
I don’t think Armstead is package deal other places just that New Orleans probably pays him the big bucks if they land Watson and he probably likes the No relocation etc in that move (while staying on a team that should really contend).
-
Once they get Watson - they restructure his deal and can create a bunch of space. The hard work is getting the $35M free to start so they can take him - once they get him (as his contract is currently established) - than they can get creative and spread things into a more cap friendly deal which would give them space for Armstead (presumably).
-
It seems like Armstead is going to stay in New Orleans - with Watson looking more and more likely to be headed there.
