This is a middle schoolers dick joke dream.

  • Unless the cost is very low, this is just another instance of this front office being stuck in 1996. If you have limited resources, why tf would you spend it on a 1 win upgrade to the only spot where

  • If the budget is $200M, go ahead. If it’s $180M, don’t waste the $10M. Go get a LH RF and a decent SP.

If we make a trade, will Milwaukee pick up all $10M? And will they be requesting no top 30 prospects in return?

If so, then I’m interested.

Is this guy more credible than the foodies?

Of course Wong makes a ton of sense as a trade target. Assuming the price tag isn't crazy, he'd be a great fit here.

Wong is a pretty good player. You aren't going to get him completely for free.

Wake me up when someone credible corroborates this.

I know. I would like to add Wong. But when the payroll is apparently so limited, I don’t want to spend $10M on a second basemen, especially when it means giving up prospects.

LOL Of course they have.  Some things never change.

Dude went to my high school. Not my class, I’m an old f*** now… but still cool.

No. Easy to connect the Sox to Wong. Need for a 2B and left-handed bat.

Edited by Bob Sacamano

Wong's defensive metrics have declined the past 2-3 seasons it looks like. But at least he can hit unlike Josh Harrison.

what's this gonna cost the Sox

This guy spews out about hundred rumors a day across all MLB franchises.  I’m assuming he’s full of s%*#, but there is some logic to the rumor.

The ol trade value simulator has Wong at 0.1 - meaning he’s basically a guy who could be fairly claimed on waivers or who the Brewers picking up his 2023 option was a close decision. If the White Sox are taking on his full $10 million salary, the answer seemingly should be “not much”.

Great 2020 move. What a joke now.

Yeah, if the Sox trade for Wong it's either taking on his entire salary and giving up nothing more than a lottery ticket or the Brewers eat most of his salary to get a Kohl Simas type.

Just save the money and go with Sosa at 2B…

You finding this trade simulator was always to be a problem.

Whatever useless rumors cost. A peanut??

Anyone know what happened to Wong’s defense last year?  Those splits against RHP are sexy AF but probably not worth it if he’s defense is going to be as bad as it was last year.  2B defense needs to be prioritized with shift rule change.

Statcast shows a pretty solid dropoff in his sprint speed, and most of the dropoff in his defense appears to be on balls he had to come in for, with a little bit of trouble moving to his right. The biggest change though wasn’t in the number of balls he got to, it was him making a ton of errors. This looks like a guy who couldn’t cover as much ground as he used to, kept trying to, and in the process made a lot of sloppy plays and errors. Either that, or maybe he was working through a leg injury and things weren’t as crisp for him in the field either?

If we are only spending 15 million, I wouldn't love 10 million going to Wong.

I would like to see a more credible source but the Sox trading for Wong would not be at all surprising. Seems like something they would do.

Errors would be less concerning than range, but to your point they could easily be interrelated.  If we were to acquire him, our pro scouts better be certain he can at least be average there next year.

Agreed.  I’ll keep screaming it, but get me the best OF and SP possible, and then go with youth and cheap depth options at 2B.

This would be my preferred option.  OF #1 by bigly amount for me
