  1. Mark Buehrle Sets Another Major League Record: 45 Straight Retired By Jason Gage SoxNet.net Mark Buehrle just retired former White Sox, Joe Crede, to set a new major league record for most consecutive batters retired (42). The streak ended at 45 when Mark Buehrle walked Alexi Casilla on a 3-2 count. The Twins followed-up the walk with a single which ended Buehrle's no-hitter.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) Another team-wide slump. What do you know? Nah, Sox will get this stuff figured out. I got a lot of confidence
  3. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) Do people seriously not realize we will have ZERO lefties in the pen for the next few days? No I realize it. I talked about that in the article I wrote on the move. The key is that if things stay status quo, he should rejoin the rotation.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) I'd be down for some Jarrod Washburn. Too expensive and he really does benefit from pitching in Safeco. I'd rather keep our ammo and go as is than give up a lot for Jarod Wasbhurn. I expect the Sox to make a serious run at Sherrill. If all it costs is Fields and Poreda I think the Sox ultimately make that deal.
  5. Colon to Rotation; Richard to Pen; Fields to AAA By Jason Gage SoxNet Joe Cowley is reporting that the White Sox will make room for newly acquired 1B/OF Mark Kotsay on the 25 man roster by sending 1B/3B Josh Fields to AAA Charlotte. The move won't be made official until Wednesday, which is when...More at the Link, Including Our Analysis of the Move
  6. Wow, Richard puts up two great starts against divisional foes and gets replaced by Colon. I don't like it one bit.
  7. I'd watch for a trade in the next 24 hr's with Fields heading elsewhere, potentially for a reliever (which than means Colon might be the odd man out) or some sort of prospect. They have until tomorrow's game, which is when I'm sure Kotsay will report and be added to the Sox 25 man roster.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) Ugh. Why? Sox are not confident in there pen right now. They are looking for relief help. Qualls would be a very nice pick-up.
  9. WS Weekend Recap: Enter in 1st, Leave in 2nd By Mario Scalise Days away from the July 31 trade deadline, it's safe to say it's the beginning of crunch time for the contenders. The White Sox, having dropped the first three in a four-game series with the Detroit Tigers, had their biggest regular season game to date on Sunday. Win, and you're two games back heading into another key series with the Twins. Lose and you're four games back and one bad stretch of games away from falling out of the race. Thank you, Clayton Richard...MUCH MUCH MORE
  10. I don't buy that rumor. I could them dealing Loney and prospects for Martinez and Lee though.
  11. Richard...go out there and win this thing.
  12. Ok It makes sense for all teams but Cleveland. The Mariners are getting a very good lefty starter and a top SS prospect. The Rays are getting a front of the rotation ace to go with Garza (since Kazmir hasn't been as good) and the Tribe gets a power arm in Morrow and a guy in Jeff Clement that isn't that good of a prospect (high pick out of USC, yes, but his value was as a catcher and I don't know if he's a good enough hitter to stick at 1B or be at least an above average 1st baseman. This doesn't make sense.
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) I'm not too fond of finesse pitchers and his success has only come when the Indians have sucked. How the heck is Lee a finesse pitcher? Lee has very good stuff for a lefty. He might not throw 96 but he's got great stuff. Dan Haren doesn't throw super hard, Mark Buehrle doesn't. Give me a break. The guy won the Cy Young in the AL, you don't do that by sucking.
  14. Knight...I always use em.
  15. Sox would have to obviously acquire another reliever.
  16. It doesn't make sense to me. As I said, I only trade prospects for Haren. Plus we all know I have a major man crush on Floyd. Cliff Lee is actually pretty intriguing. I"d trade Dotel, Poreda, Richard for Cliff Lee. I don't know if Cleveland does that or not but that isn't a bad package considering they could get spects for Dotel (get the Dodgers or Angels involved).
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) I actually think it's vice versa as Danks, IMO, they are higher on, and who has more upside. Not to mention he and his brother both fired Boras so I doubt he'll be a problem to sign long term. Well Danks turned down a simlar deal to what Floyd accepted.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) Then Joe Beimel (WAS) and Arthur Rhodes (CIN) make a whole hell of a lot more sense than trading for a closer. I agree. The Sox have definately targeted Sherril but the Angels and Dodgers both have bigger needs in the pen and ultimately I can't see giving up a big chip to get a reliever after the Sox already traded Brandon Allen for one. If we use our top prospects, use them on Dan Haren.
  19. Cowley: Sox Interested in Haren/Lee By Jason Gage SoxNet Joe Cowley, Sun Times, reported in a radio interview that the Chicago White Sox might be interested in acquiring Indians ace Cliff Lee or Diamondbacks ace Dan Haren. Cowley went on to say that Octavio Dotel mentioned he might be part of a "3 team deal" which would send Lee to the White Sox. Gavin Floyd is the name Cowley through out as the potential "centerpiece" of a Dan Haren Deal...Click to Read Our Take
  20. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 05:00 AM) According to Cowley today, there were rumors that the sox are still trying to acquire a front line SP with Gavin Floyd and minor leaguers. Only a guy like Dan Haren would make sense to include Gavin in a deal. The Dbacks would save $25 mill over the next 4 years, as Haren is owed $49.25 through 2013, and Gavin is owed $24.25 over that same time. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...soxnt25.article The Sox won't deal Floyd. They'd deal Danks before Floyd because Gavin is actually signed and cost controled. Edit: Dan Haren might be the one guy they'd deal Floyd for.
  21. Sox want a left handed arm for the pen to go with Thornton.
