  1. How the f*** do you lose to OKC. I swear to god stop playing anyone who doesn't have a future. I don't give a s*** about the 8th seed...get Thabo/Tyrus/Rose developed and keep boosting up Gordon's trade value and hopefully restore Dengs. That should be the Bulls priority. I love Drew Gooden too but I'd probably move him since he would be very valuable to another team and the Bulls are clearly a ways away (unless they plan on resigning him).
  2. All I'm going to say is that I was stunned to see where everyone is pegging Iowa to finish next season. I've seen them predicted as a top 13 team and the best team in the big ten. I'm not sure I get that since they are losing three stud underclassmen (the two big defensive guns on the line and Shonne Greene the best running back in college football this season). Oh and I'd once again like to pat Ferentz on the back as his teams have beaten some big time schools in bowls during his tenure (and aside from the USC loss in there first BCS game they pretty much were in or leading every bowl game).
  3. Oh how I wish my mouth could handle chewing on something like beef jerky. I hated this stuff as a kid but have acquired a taste to most of it.
  4. Dried Beef is the best thing ever. I wish we had it out here on the West Coast. The one I get from the real butcher shop that used to be in Rock Rapids, Iowa, was the most amazing thing ever.
  5. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) That's for sure. I was so out of it that I tried to run back inside b/c I told my mom they hadn't done the surgery yet. She said I was laughing, being like "they haven't even taken out my wisdom teeth yet. Why are we leaving?" I was in la-la land. I was laughing during my procedure but I haven't been in much pain. Little swelling on the side where both my teeth were impacted and the gums are irrated as hell back there. Not being able to brush your teeth for the first two days was awful though.
  6. Garcia will make the team at one point or another if the Sox signed him. I realize he didn't exactly light up the radar but he was just back from injury last season and his shoulder should still continue to get stronger and he was actually pretty decent in his late season starts.
  7. Go with the Blackberry. I have a Palm Treo as my work phone and I f***ing hate it. It's through Verizon and than my personal phone is on sprint (just got it) and I freaking love it (Samsung Rant). Best phone I've ever had. It's simple to use, has a qwerty keyboard and most importantly isn't f***ing touch. Touch is the biggest piece of garbage technology on a cell phone ever. I don't want touch, I want buttons cause than I can feel whatever I need when makinga call while driving (DARRRR). Rant also does a nice job with handling mutliple email addresses which are handled through it. Plus Sprint, unlike Verizon, gives you pretty good capabiltiies of the phone (at least on the program I'm on).
  8. Morneau and Mauer and it isn't even close. Both are still young and overall far less injury prone (although Mauer has had his share of injury problems as well). That said if Quentin does what he did last year for a career he's the best of the bunch.
  9. This would be an awful trade and another one that makes no sense. Between the Roberts and Young deal I seriously don't know which would be worse. Probably this one though.
  10. I'd like to welcome Knight & Shipps to the admin ranks at Soxtalk.com. They will be replacing two of the best admins the site has ever seen in Heads22 and Greasywheels. The two have stepped down from there duties and will be honored with a retired admin/mod rank. I'd like to thank them both for all the hard work they've done and look forward to seeing there contributions as a member. We will also have a new thread on this site in the coming days listing of all of our retired mods/admins as we do our typical re-structuring heading into spring training 09 (oh and unlike the economy Soxtalk is still alive and kicking but as the site grows our mods/admins lives change and adjustments are made on there behalf). So I'd like to once again welcome Knigh and Shipps and say thanks so much to Alex and Zach for all the hard work they've put in over the years!!!
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 10, 2009 -> 04:26 PM) You had surgery huh? Do you feel cleaner down there or what? You know it....now if only I could start eating again
  12. Interesting rumor. I'd like the idea of Lyon. He had a great 2007 and a great 1st half of 08. I'm assuming something went wrong with him and hopefully it was a minor injury and he'd be better for the 09 season. That would be a nice depth signing for the pen. I'm also really curious to see if the Sox could find a way to free up some cash because given the way the market is they could get some quality prospects for the players traded and than add back some quality FA veterans at discounted rates. Oh and I would take a chance on Pedro for the right price but would prefer a Jon Garland type. Pedro with a heavily incentive based deal would be a nice move if the Sox could get him in semi shape to give them 150 innings. That way they could have a veteran take some time in the rotation which gives Marquez/Poreda a bit more time to develop. Plus I still think Pedro will find a way to have one or two pretty solid seasons because he has good enough secondary stuff to be an above average pitcher without the dominant fastball. Of course you do have some serious injury issues (obviously).
  13. Oh man, its so nice to have this site again to point me in the direction of Sox news. It feels as if I hadn't read a Sox story in weeks (asside from the Dye rumors being shot down again by Kenny).
  14. Thank goodness it's back. I want to thank Kapkomet for getting everything straightened out. The outage happened at probably as bad of a time as possible since I had surgery this week (just prior to the outage) than my girlfriend had surgery on Thursday (wrist) and clearly getting onto a computer was not a priority. Kap also was under the weather as well but was able to get in contact with the people necessary to get the issue resolved. So now that the site's back, Kenny can finally announce his next slew of moves
  15. Downed inside the 1. Tought spot for Dolphins to start the 2nd half.
  16. Ravens driving for the kill here, Dolphins make a big stop on 3rd down and Ravens will punt and likely pin the Phins back.
  17. Moorad did a great job in Arizona and I think he'll be a welcome addition as the face man of a group that buys the Pads (my favorite NL team).
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) Thats one benefit though, that the level of talent he will recruit will most likely stay in his system for multiple years which makes it possible to keep a program at a high level and also to teach your system to perfection. Yep, thats why I think in time Iowa will consistently be an above average big ten team (because Lick will consistently have senior leadership on his squads and not have to go through any heavy rebuilding period due to players leaving early for the pro's). Now you obviously hope that he'll be able to land an above average (ie high 4 star to low 5 star recruit) every couple of years but that won't happen until Iowa can get themselves back on the basketball map. I do believe they are headed in the right direction and I ultimately hope Lick goes the route of a Ryan at Wisconsin who has turned Wiscy into one of the best coached teams in the nation who can win despite not always having top talent (albeit Devin Harris was ridiculous).
  19. Finally got around to checking my guide and its there which is cool. Drays Phillies world series game is on right now. I'm assuming Cox will pick up the HD feed around the start of baseball season since there probably isn't going to be a ton of programming till spring training. I'm guessing it'll start with the network televising a ton of World Baseball Classic Games.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) Lickliter, especially in Iowa City, will never assemble the talent that Jerrance Howa....err, "Bruce Weber" is assembling at Illinois, so it's kind of a moot point to argue who is the better game coach between the two of them. As of now I'll agree with you on that. I don't know if Lick will be able to recruit good enough but they have a pretty nice looking crop of young players, all of which should be around for 4 years.
  21. I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed on tuesday and am not looking forward to it...at all.
  22. When does 24 start back up? I want to make sure I have it still set on my DVR (I recorded the 2 hr thing on THanksgiving weekend and loved that but am not sure if it was considered a series or not).
  23. I'll once again give Shipps credit...this was freaking hillarious. I showed my girlfriend and she spit out her drink laughing so hard.

    Mystery

Yea, if it was a friend they've pushed the line. I think its more likely its some young kid who lives in your neighborhood that stole your information and has decided to have some fun at your expense not realizing the consequences. That would be my guess. Maybe it isn't even a kid but its not someone trying to take your money more doing something they think is funny.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) BTW, I cant believe you snuck this post through the Illini buzzsaw. I was waiting for a comment. Weber is solid and I'm not about to say that Lick is going to be more successful because Weber has been very sucessful but as a pure coach I'll take Lick.
