What's Your Field of Study?
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) Did you enjoy working for Deloitte? They are really popular here and I have heard some good things about them, but not from anybody who has really worked for them. I learned a ton. It's a great place to start your career but you have to realize your going to get abused a bit working for them. Your a resource and unfortunately you don't get paid market value (but when you leave you get rewarded because people know the training you get at Deloitte or any of the other top tier accounting firms). So in short, while I hated my job there for a couple years, I learned an absolutely s***load and ultimately am glad I worked at Deloitte and would recommend it to others. Plus, if you do really like what you get in, sticking around can be very beneficial financially.

What's Your Field of Study?
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) What did you do for Deloitte? What are you doing in your new position? Going from an audit role to a financial analyst position. It'll allow me to have more normal work hours while I'm getting my MBA (hopefully from USC) which will start in September.

Is it too late for me to get back in. Switching jobs and I'd finally have more time to do this thing.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 08:59 AM) This close to a Ph.D. in geology...(Come on Iron, stop screwing me over!) When I buy my castle a top a mountain, I will be hiring you to perform my geological analysis to ensure my house doesn't fall off the mountain and onto my lowly peasants, LOL.

What's Your Field of Study?
QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 07:20 AM) I just realized we probably have every college in a university covered around here. It is an amazing mix of smart people, something you would not get on say a NASCAR site. So how about a roll call. What formal or informal field of study are/were you in? I will have, Lord willing, by May 6th of this year B.A.s in English Lit and Psychology. I graduated with my bachelor's in business with a double focus in accounting and finance. I've worked for Deloitte for 3 years and will now be moving into private for a large, formerly publicy traded health care company while I attend MBA school part time in the fall. Don't mean to pat myself on the back, but not too shabby for being 2/1/2 years removed from college

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 04:49 AM) Maybe it's also reminiscent of Bourne because of the European sets... The irony is that everyone complained that the new James Bond (QOS) was too much like Bourne and not humorous or romantic enough. I tend to agree, because it's hard for this most recent bond to stand up in comparison to Casino Royale. Having Eva Green witty repartee and banter back and forth with Craig (especially the train scene) just added something that Olga Kurylenko, despite her near supermodel status....didn't. Which was enjoyable action AND dialogue and a hint of sex/fun without straying too much from the main storyline from too pretty talented actors. I think what distinguishes the Bourne movies from say Seagal or National Treasure or DaVinci Code is that they're written for people with some intelligence...that like to think while they're watching a movie, instead of being spoon fed. Watching him stay one step of David Straithairn in the last movie was enjoyable, in and of itself. So maybe Bourne is like a modern-day, intellectualized Rambo/First Blood. Lets not compare James Bond and Jason Bourne. The Bourne movies are so much better than the Bonds (at least the recent one's), its not even funny. Better stories, cooler action scenes, etc. I've been flat out dissapointed with each of the most recent Bond movies, although I happen to think the current bond is very good at his role (the movies weren't good though). Or at least not up to my expectations of a Bond flick.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) my gf made the comparison to Man on Fire as well, but I thought of it as a early 90's Seagal Movie if he could act his way out of a paper bag. I can see the Seagal reference as well. Under Siege is clearly one of the most badass movies of all time!!

Aside from the loss against the Pacers (lots of new faces) the Bulls have been playing very well since getting healthy (ie, Hinrich and Deng back playing well). Hinrich is a huge upgrade as is a healthy Deng. The Bulls are going to make a run and get a playoff spot and they might even win 2 playoff games.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 07:03 AM) Saw Taken last night and was thoroughly entertained. Yeah most of it was implausible and there were some corny scenes, especially everything leading up to the trip to Paris, but it was fun. I'm also surprised at PG-13 ratings given to movies like this and Dark Knight. They were both ultra violent and I couldn't help but think what the heck did it need to get an R rating? I guess if they showed a boob it would have gotten the R but having 40 people savagely killed or injured is fine. A sad commentary on society today that violence is so easily accepted. I watched it last night too and really enjoyed it. Reminded me a bit of Man on Fire, but with more action (maybe not as good of a story but still badass).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) This isnt homerism because for the most part I didnt like him at OSU, but Robiskie could be a pretty good fit for the Bears. He can stretch the field, runs good routes and can catch the ball in traffic. After putting up a solid 40, there is no way a guy like Robinskie falls to where we pick in the 2nd. I want the Bears to draft a WR early as well as well as sign a veteran like Harrison or Holt (preferably Holt). Combine them with Hester and Bennett and I'll be very content.

Hayward and Nicks both look like good guys for the Bears to target in the 1st round. I would than look at a tackle that fell in the 2nd round.

Still, the team looked discombombulated at times out there, which is to be expected when you have as many new faces as they have. Would have been a nice road win though.

A young fullerton team (5th in the country) is now 1-1 after they lost a late game against TCU. Hopefully they can get the win Sunday so they are 2-1 heading into what should be a tough midweek game vs SDSU and than a home series against Stanford (which I'll definately be at).

I'm really excited about the Bulls. Paxson did a great job at the deadline. Plus Hinrich is still here and I really love the guy. He's a really good player when he's healthy. He had one really awful stretch of his career last season and it was when he was just flat out trying to do too much.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) If the Bulls really did turn down the Hinrich deal, that's pretty bad. If you can get rid of that contract, you do it, period. Hopefully SOMETHING happens tomorrow, although it would be no surprise if nothing happens. I don't necessarily agree with that logic. Hinrich has value. In fact, they could move him for Kaman right now (apparently). The question is what do the Bulls do with a front court of Miller/Kaman/Tyrus/Noah. Clearly they'd have to find a way to move one or two of those guys, but they might be able to do that in the off-season (Miller's contract, plus one of Noah/TT and others could net you that star for those trying to set things up for 2010).
