  1. So I bought Wi Fitness for my mom for Christmas and now I need to find a good deal on a WII (which is what I'm getting myself). Anyone have any recommendations. I'd probably want all the nunchecks and that jazz too cause I plan on using it mainly as a family type of game system.
  2. I'd take a chance on Brazoban if he's healthy. Power arm who has at times had success at the major league level.
  3. How is Rose in a better spot. The Bulls get great attendance.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:15 PM) If we get younger and more athletic with Mr. Morales then this team will be really sexy to watch. The man has nothing to prove in the minors anymore and he is another Cuban who will fit right in. I'm honestly surprised that the Angels have soured on him so much. Give them either guy, then trade the other for all I care, let the youngins play. A first baseman who can probably steal 10+ bases himself... awesome. EDIT: Not sure if this is true, Jas can probably chime in, but I heard he can play first base, third base and the outfield. I'd say Morales is strictly a 1B and could potentially play Left field but aside from that you'd be pushing it.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) They do have a good closer in waiting however. I dont see them really targeting any of our guys for the pen. Arrodondo is being groomed for the closer spot but they are initially going to go with Shields or a closer by comittee. They are also in the market to pick up a reliever and while the Sox could offer one I don't see them trading a reliever in addition to Dye unless they are getting something significant in return (ie, Morales, a pitcher (Weaver or Adenhart) and Figgins). Obviously that is a pretty one-sided deal for the Sox so I can't see it happening (unless of course they wanted Jenks...but again I don't think the Angels would want to re-acquire him given the history).
  6. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:39 PM) Not going to happen, but I'd love to have Weaver. I wonder if they'd also give up Shields. The Angels are in the market for relievers now that Frankie is gone and they won't be trading Shields. Plus Shields is on the downside of his career, imo, as the heavy innings and games pitched totals are starting to wear him out.
  7. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) Have to think Adenhart is off the block, but Weaver is a potential get. Kendry Morales should be available in a Paulie deal, and of course there is Figgins I guess. At this point I'd say no to Figgins and ask for prospects. Jordan Walden may be a target of KW. I would be willing to deal Paulie for a young starting pitcher and Kendry Morales. Weaver would be the most likely as I think the Angels like him the least out of the guys currently slated in the rotation. Adenhart is pretty valuable and I'd imagine he'd be untouchable but you might be able to get him if the Angels were desperate enough. Figgins could also be doable but he's older, relies on speed, has injury issues and is due to become a free agent so I think targeting a pitcher would make a bit more sense. You'd also probably be able to pick up Willits and take a chance.
  8. QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) The obvious question would be "why would a team trade for Dye when they could keep their prospects and sign Abreu?" I think the team trading for Dye would want him because for there team they might potentially see him as an upgrade and this will assure them of getting there guy. There is no sure fire way of knowing that you are going to land one of the FA outfielders. The Reds are the type of team that would have a hard time convincing Abreu or Burrel to leave a winning organization. Lots more money might make a difference but it doesn't sound as if the Reds are in that position. The Dodgers would have to think that route but if they lost Manny, they'd be looking more for a middle of the order run producer and Dye might be the best fit.
  9. Derek Rodriguez has a pretty projectable arm. I don't think he'll stick with Tampa though and will eventually be returned.
  10. On a sidenote, I believe the Sox having an inside track has everything to do with Ozzie's relationship with Abreu and doesn't necessarily have to do with the Sox making any significant overtures at this point. I don't think Kenny will have told Abreu his plans this early cause it could leak out and Kenny doesn't want to get burned like he did last year.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) Thats a good point as well. We already know that Danks is slated for the MLB level in 2-3 years and can play CF, but most likely at one point will end up in the corner. By that time Q will have been a mainstay in RF. Danks and Shelby might very well be those guys.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 09:00 AM) Personally, I think Bobby Abreu would be a much more valuable bat to our offense than JD. I tend to agree. He would be a tremendous #2 hitter.
  13. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 06:58 AM) I think he has some type of serious injury, from what I have read on here anyway. I think you are confusing Hernandez with Donny Lucy.
  14. Abreu to the Sox makes a lot of sense but I'm guessing the Sox want that to stay as quiet as possible because you don't want other teams to know we are more forced to deal Dye (not that we are truly forced). I would be so thrilled if we could get an A prospect for Dye and than replace Dye with Abreu.
  15. Except Joyce isn't exactly highly touted nor has he ever shown anything too special at the minor league level.
  16. This is a stellar deal for the Tigers. Highway robbery as far as I'm concerned. Joyce has no value in comparison to Jackson.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) If that's all it cost to get Jackson, then I'm upset we didn't go after him. He'd have been the perfect 4th starter too and would have easily allowed the Sox to move Dye for a young starter like Bailey and not have to worry about spending any money on the rotation or pen (cause whomever missed out on the rotation could slide to the pen). This would have let the Sox use some cash to fill there remaining positional holes.
  18. Wow thats a hell of a deal for the Tigers. Joyce can't be considered to be on par with Jackson. Joyce has some nice tools but has never put up amazing numbers at the big league level. In fact, I wouldn't consider him being that much different of a prospect than Brian Anderson. His career OPS is .804 at the minor league level and only once did he hit even .270. This is one I just don't get, not at all. A steal of a deal considering that Jackson is at the very least a league average starter and at his best (since he does have a great arm) could turn into a viable #2.
  19. If Bedard was non-tendered, someone would have to be willing to give him a decent contract and take a chance. The guy was dominant two years ago.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) He pitched where, AA last year? I dunno, I could see them go either way with him/Russell. There's certainly benefits for a reliever pitching at AAA in a hitter's park, not to mention the arbitration delay. Russel failed to ever really dominate at the major league level last year. I kind of think they'll use him more as one of those guys that is in the minors and comes up when someone goes down (at least for the next year). I think he'll eventually stick in the pen but probably not with the Sox (it'll be when he goes to another team which is out of contention and he's allowed to work his way through the majors for a year or two). Am I the only one who isn't overly excited about Carrasco. He was stellar for us given the situation last year but his stuff isn't that good. I like him a lot as a depth guy we have in the minors but not as a reliever on a playoff team. Bottom line I'm comfortable with Jenks/Dotel/Linebrink/Thornton (when all are healthy) and I have faith in Richard because he flashed quite a bit at the major league level. Poreda has a freaking stud arm so I don't opposed him and than there is Link who the Sox seem to really rave about. Personally speaking, I wouldn't be opposed at all to the Sox picking up a reliever.
  21. I'd be curious to see it because I think there could be at least a few attractive names that make that list. Chad Gaudin is a possibility. He isn't great but wouldn't be a bad 5th starter, imo.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) I love him as a person, as everyone who was around him at GT thought the world of him. I just don't think he's worth close to the amount he's going to receive. I'd much rather go out and get Manny for 2 years.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) They may also be willing to give Link a shot if he has a solid ST, since they're already talking about him replacing Jenks. I'd go as far as say Link just has to show good big league stuff at spring training and he'll have a spot.
