  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) While I sympathize, if they had never done some of the things they did, such as leveraging themselves 30 to 1, taking huge gambles on margin (money they didn't have), they wouldn't be in this situation. This is a lesson to future companies/businesses or otherwise. While I'm not happy with it, either, I love these draconian rules being put in place because it's sure as hell going to send the message to all future companies to not EVER repeat these mistakes or they may end up taking orders from people like Barney Frank and his ilk. Why are you totally missing the point? Is it on purpose? What am I not telling you? If I put a gun to your head, are you going to trust that I emptied the chamber? If the government forces a bank to take money that they DO NOT NEED or HAVE NOT ASKED for... and then the government comes in with all this crap about what they can or cannot do, it's a farce. The government forced some of these companies to take money that did not need it and now they are sitting there saying "you have to play by my rules, even though you didn't really need the money". That is VERY wrong. The other point in your post, I get that, to some extent, but these people are pretty much hell bent on destroying capitalism. I know, I know, it's "Kaperbole ™ " for me to say this, but then again, I'm really starting to wonder because no matter how bad it's ever gotten in any private enterprise institution before, the government hasn't forced its way into board rooms like this before. Obama just crossed THE line. But, it's "ok" to make the "point" about how the government runs things? No, thanks. We already know they suck, but yet, the love keeps on coming about how they are "doing such a great job". Wow. This is class warfare. Hang those f***ing CEOs so the "little people" can get theirs. It's absolutely insane.
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) They took it because of a lot of factors, but the fact is, they put us here, then asked to be bailed. Oopsie. The lesson is simple, don't make these mistakes EVER again. What I'm saying is some of these companies did NOT ask to be bailed and were forced to take money.
  3. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 09:42 AM) Abramoff may be peanuts compared to this non-scandal. http://briefingroom.thehill.com/2009/03/30...-investigation/ This is "different", my friend. It always is.
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 10:16 AM) Then let it be a lesson to all companies that wish to survive without declaring bankruptcy, and having no product or service that generates profit that requests help from the government/taxpayer. If you don't want to live by these types of rules, then don't piss away success on greed, or otherwise. If you never ask them for "bailout money', then you never have to worry about this type of government control. There's a lot of people who were forced to take money. And I am so f***ing tired of "greed" being thrown around. Most of us benefited from all of this for a while. It doesn't make it right, but it's the truth.
  5. How you people can support Obama's administration with this kind of s*** is beyond me.
  6. I think what was fascinating to me was the one on the upper left - it was really smooth, which is very weird. The rest of them were all jagged. I have two or three that are tennis ball size and there were a lot more laying in our yard. Just to my east is the rich area of Fort Worth. And, a ton of car dealerships right out near D/FW airport. Ouch.
  7. Our whole neighborhood was covered with hail this size.
  8. Only on Soxtalk would a drunk thread turn geeky. But I love it.
  9. I'll have some pics - we got "lucky" - only tennis ball size hail here.
  10. I guess we gots baseballs falling out of the sky just west of here.
  11. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) It's obvious that Obama merely wanted to blame someone as to limit public outrage while continuing to give large returns to the UAW for their extensive campaign bribes. This administration is completely for sale. Oh stop it, mr_genius. Obama is all about transparancy and change. I beleive in the Messiah!
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Great question You don't know why? Come on now...
  13. I asked this when this first started... do you think the campaign contributions will stop? No. And 80%+ goes to Democrats.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) Sure it doesn't. Carry on. I'll just go back to Obama worshipping now. our Messiah!!!!
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) How many times have we all heard "Clinton didn't do anything without first checking a poll." Now Obama is being criticized for not checking a poll before doing anything. Not exactly. Obama's not checking anything before doing everything he wants.
  16. This has nothing to do with MP3's, people.
  17. The other hypocritical thing here is, several of you all want to b**** Bush out for impedeing on our "rights"? Obama is taking this to a whole other level.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) Five bucks says that Obama himself has downloaded music illegally. That's not even the point. The point is, this is another "transparent" act by the Obama administration.
  19. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 28, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Im calling shenanigans. I had a veiled chameleon that looked exactly like this guy, and he had nowhere NEAR the color changing ability they are showing on this chameleon. I think this is just a cool photoshop job That's fake, for sure.
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 28, 2009 -> 08:53 AM) The level of openness and candor in the drunk thread is quite high, isn't it? This would explain the Ide comment in the ShamWow thread.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) I skimmed it and what i read was she could barely hold a file at times and had to lean heavily on her staff, and this is a positive article that had those points in it even while praising her. So, in all reality it was prob a little worse than this article makes it and she probably should have stepped down, atleast temporarily. Not taking away that for being sick she did a very good job. She couldn't carry a file. Wow. So what about Ted Kennedy? What about Tim Johnson? Robert Byrd? Ruth Bader Ginsburg? I guess anytime anyone is sick, they should just drop off their job and never live a day to day life as much as possible?
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) While what she did was pretty remarkable, She obviously wasnt able to do her job to the best of her capabilities during this entire mess and probably would of been a good idea to step aside, atleast temporarily. Did you even read the article?
  23. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090327/ap_on_..._schultz_cancer *applause* This lady has a hell of a lot of courage.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) Sox will go 79-83, finishing in 4th place. Tigers will win the AL Central. Surprises: Wise, Thome Disappointments: Fields, Floyd Ahhh, the old Gavin Floyd "disappoints" rears its ugly head AGAIN.
  25. What SS was saying is more my point. This guy is going to CYA just like everyone else does. I don't think my statement is an extreme, it's just reality.
