QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:43 PM) I wonder what 'common sense gun laws' will be passed that would have stopped this tragedy if they had only been in place beforehand? Longer waiting periods, ban those dangerous looking weapons, maybe ban cartridges that hold more than 6 shots! I can wait for the typical knee-jerk reactions to this. That was my point, and it was a point facilitated in part by Mr. Obama's words.

What I really think Balta was trying to get out of this, I will now take a stab at. Some observations: All across the country, ammunition is being hoarded. You just about can't get it anymore, and the prices are way up. Permits are going through the roof. There's several "causes", IMO. -there will be drastic laws written to gun laws, sometime soon -class warfare - it's going to lead to some bad things -bad economy - leads to bad things -there may not be laws on guns, but they may try by another means - say the government needs all the ammo, so individuals can't purchase. Can't shoot what you can't buy... That's a start. I do know that there is a severe shortage here on ammo, and in other parts of the country. It's because the government "needs it all".

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) Read this link http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/AWBLettertoHolder309.pdf He can't. That's 65 House Democrats. Damn, it says the file is damaged so I can't read it. lf, that is now. Keep getting stories like this, it will change. You all are right, this is a very bad example to make my point on ... but I think it does make the point.

Yes, BS, the guy is a douche. Prayers for these guy's families.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) Let me make your next post for you Kap. Obama Messiah Save you from getting carpal tunnel Too late. I mean, he is going to save us from everything, is he not? He's just SO AWESOME! I'm so glad he went over to Europe this week to save us from ourselves. You know, that's probably why this guy did this... he's upset Mr. Obama left the country and didn't take care of him in his time of need when he was so upset. And seriously, I'm not making light of the situation... because it's a bad one. But, when you have Mr. Obama making quotes like this and some other things he has said about guns, people get fired up. It DOES NOT make some quack head doing something like this right, but this story and others like it will be used so "gun control" can be created; thus giving Mr. Obama another messianic moment.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) I was talking about the guy in the story, not you. Let me help out with your next post though: Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear fear panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic panic Should help you out for a couple of pages. If you would just help out Mr. Obama quit those tactics, we'd all be better off. I mean how many "crisis" and "catastrophe" statements do we need from Mr. Obama?
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) In order to gain trust we should shoot more cops in the head. No, we must take examples like this, and make sure that Mr. Obama saves us all from all those guns. You see, it works. Kind of like AIG bonuses and the hate class envy out there right now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:16 PM) I think the thing that bothers me most is that there's a whole group of people right now who are selling exactly the myth he bought in to. Here, for example, is Wayne LaPierre from the NRA on Glenn Beck's show saying that the 2nd amendment is "Under fire" and Under attack. Here's a gun shop owner in Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago saying that he thinks confiscation of firearms might be coming. 1.2 million more gun registration permits have been issued in the last 6 months compared to the year beforehand. It's because a lot of people believe that it's coming. Since Mr. Obama clearly understands what this guy's plight is, I'm sure he'll want to swoop in to rescue us all from guns. We, the people, can't be trusted.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) I wonder if he realizes how far he contradicted himself? To the point where he actually helps the other side? I completely understand what I said when I quoted Mr. Obama. And so do a lot of other people. That's why it's a problem.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Pretty stupid thing to post regarding this story. It's as if you see where the guy is coming from. Again, it's not my observation. Mr. Obama clearly understands where this guy is coming from. As WT said, this guy had some anger management issues. And re: guns, ammunition, etc., I have some things to say about that... but certainly, Mr. Obama understands people like this. We can't forget that.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) So what are you saying Kap? This guy had a good reason to kill cops? It's not my observation. It's our (er, I mean, GLOBAL) president's observation.

I, er um, POTUS would say that:

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) Buehrle apparently just threw 100 MPH..... I saw that too and was going to comment on it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) That sounds to me exactly like the attitude he should be taking. You just lost all credibility to me. Please let me clarify. I think it's really sad that you truely believe that Obama's adminstration should have this kind of power. Who created the people with the pitchforks? The asshole who is president now had a lot to do with this. Then he has the arrogance to say HE is the only one who can stop it? f*** him and the horse he rode in on. I don't get why these people (and you, since you said what you did) are scared of the individual.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20090403/pl_politico/20871 What an arrogant piece of s***. This man is ruining our country. I'm glad that he's supported to do so.

So, it's a taxpayer bailout, again. The bulls*** is essentially that they are trying to pass it off as something different.

I wonder if this same manner of sampling will be used in the census?

While we're at it, let's make sure that we count every illegal... so that wild swings can occur to favor Democrats.

Iowa SC legalizes Same Sex Marriage in Unanimous Decision

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) So does the Taliban. Oh good grief. I agree with the decision, but I also understand why people are upset by it. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) A couple of years ago, my primary physician went into private practice. No way was I paying an extra $2000 just to call him my doctor. I was so comfortable with him that I still haven't found another primary doctor. I just go to the guy my dad goes to. Changing doctors isn't that easy for me. Does that make me wierd? Not at all. It's difficult to find someone you trust. But, at the same time, you do have to look out for yourself and it becomes something that you need to decide.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 12:56 PM) I caught it twice so far and had a blank stare on my face each time. I was waiting for someone to at least make me smile. Where was your wife?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) Not sure why you're sticking to talking points. I have seen no evidence in my lifetime of markedly smaller federal government when the GOP is in control. Forget the last 8 years. GWB screwed the pooch hard on this. It's one of his biggest mistakes. Hell, it's one of the biggest mistakes of the Republican party EVER. There is no party that stands for this and I contend that if there were, AND THEY ACTUALLY DID IT and not just talk crap, they would do really well as a party.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) I'll take issue with this by saying that you're looking at it from your side, from the right. Because you're on that side, everything done that is slightly to the left looks like it's bas*** (I really don't know what profanity that was supposed to be) crazy. I think that privatizing medicare is a terrible idea, but for someone on your side, you might think that's a decidedly smart move and it's bas*** crazy not to do so. It's the fallacy that the entire media loves to make...taking one's personal views or the views of the group of people you spend time with and saying "oh if only someone would do act x, it would reveal that the whole world actually agrees with us." You know, actually, I don't. I know I throw a lot of Kaperbole out there. I know that you were using this as an example - I do think that privatizing RETIREMENT should be an option, and you have to have a revamp of how medicare and medicaid and social security is funded. The whole system - we pay for our parents, etc. is so off balance... that's the problem. It's not how it's funded. Anyway, my point is there is too many extremes in both parties that really swings crap. I think the GOP has their nose in crap it doesn't belong in (marriage, etc.) and I think that the Democrats tend to want to bloat government. Either way, it's all about control and power, and guess what? Political parties want that power and therefore stick their nose in what it doesn't belong in. And that's more my point. Hands off government is best - but I understand that there's a need for government.

Anyway, to the next catch-all. I'm enjoying our 45 mph sustained winds and 60 mph gusts that we have had the last 4 hours this morning. I've already had one section of fence blow down in our back yard, I'm waiting for more to fall. It's supposed to last 4 more hours.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) You really think our insurance was going to allow that? We tried. Especially for any sort of specialist or scan, we had 1 place to go and that was it. But thankfully there was no bureaucrat making the decisions for us. That'd be awful. I'm not trying to get too personal... but where did you live? That doesn't sound right to me at all.
