Cost of campaign advertising to hit $3,000,000,000.00
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) The parable of the woman who gave her last two coins to the church versus the rich people who gave a lot more money, but really didn't give anything that meant anything comes to mind. Don't dis John Edwards. He could *almost* be Jesus.

That's it, the election is over now.

Soxtalk Straw Poll (Democrat edition)
Oh no, I actually heard the phrase on a show that I had on when listening to the traffic report one night on the way home. The thing is, it fits. These guys are not "Republicans", they have long abandoned the issues that made them Republicans. They are a new breed, that cater to the media and Democrats, hence, "Re-pube-licans".

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) Less than 2 days of the Iraq war = No Presidential Candidate has to raise a cent of private dollars.

Do I go?
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) I'm just asking. I know Nixon pulled us off Bretton Woods but is that the same as the Gold Standard? Yes.

Do I go?
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 05:32 PM) Don't get me started on the dinosaur that was the gold standard. Rest in peace, please. That was indeed a bit "old school". Welcome to Doha!

Soxtalk Straw Poll (Democrat edition)
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) I had to vote "other" as in "none of the above". Tried as I did, when it came down to the issues, I just don't agree with anyone in this group on the direction the country needs to go. Neither do I, but I can say the same for the Re-pube-licans.

Do I go?
Speaking of debt, it's amazing that the levels are starting to come back due to the revenue growth... wow, supply side economics works every time.

Soxtalk Straw Poll (GOP edition)
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) Wow, Ron Paul running away with it here. If only Soxtalk were real life for that man. Of course. Every Democrat here is going to "vote" for him.

EPA approves BP's new pollution dumping
I don't get back there anymore except for funerals (seeing how my family is from there). ' I love the scenery. I want to go back some summer when it's not for such a "bad" thing.

EPA approves BP's new pollution dumping
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) that's what most people think about the states around them. I hate NJ for their a-hole drivers, NY for their a-hole a-holes, DE just because , OH because they won't annex Western PA, West Virgina because they're hicks and Maryland because it's a ghetto. I hate PA too...for obvious reasons: pennsylvanians. Pennsylvania is just ... strange. Every time I go back there for something, it's just not a nice place (people-wise). It's beautiful (especially this time of year) from a nature's standpoint.

Soxtalk Straw Poll (Democrat edition)
QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 01:55 PM) Really? I would have thought Richardson for you. That had been my leaning up until recently. Some of his stances that he has "refined" I disagree with. The other reason is "electibility". I don't think Richardson has a chance.

Soxtalk Straw Poll (GOP edition)
And on this side, I think Fred Thompson is the character I would vote for at this point in time.

I've been all over the place but as it stands right now, I'd go with Obama on this side of things.

IRS Report
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) which one? the assessment that mid/high range salaries are often considered a profit liability by corporations ? IMO, yes. But it really depends on how an organization is structured.

What a steaming pile of s*** this thread turned into, and it's not even from me dissing the Goracle.

IRS Report
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:38 PM) A lot of people have had the notion of "well, I can't be outsources. Only factory workers and low class, uneducated people can" or "no one can do my job as good as me". That's definitely not the case. Almost all mid/high range salaries are considered to be a liability in today's corporate profit system. That's a very flawed argument.

Rowand Wants Big Money
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) I don't even feel like reading the thread. I just want to put my opinion in here. Rowand's not worth half that. Not even close. Agreed.

Al Gore: Nobel Peace Prize Winner
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) I'm just saying, to my friend who I happen to disagree with, I would hope that despite the frequent arguments you guys don't forget that I'm funny and smart, and not just some grumpy asshole with half-baked views, is all. I'm just yankin' 'yer chain.

For Dems only.
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) Ann Coulter is to conservatives what Britney Spears is to musicians. Nice - I love that quote.

Al Gore: Nobel Peace Prize Winner
Not kidding when I say this. He'd probably make a better president then any other candidate out there right now - IF he stays away from health care. But he won't. Kiddo is doing pretty good. She's quite woozy still but I know we did the right thing because she had an infection and has for quite some time. Sorry to hijack the thread.

We were at the hospital this morning getting tubes put in our daughter's ears. I don't have anything to say about it. Congrats to the Goracle.
