QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) I just went to lunch with an auditor I am friends with who used to work at GM. While auditing the books of one of their plants she noticed that over 100 employees were being paid time and a half for 40 hour work weeks, but because of certain restraints on billable time (a demand of the union), those workers only worked 4-5 hours a day. It's a wonder they can't turn a profit. small unions = good big unions = bad I know personally of MANY stories like that, from both GM towns I used to live in. I'll just leave it at that.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 06:28 PM) I was reading the article in the Trib today about the rise in dental cavities and the effect bottled water (no flouride) has on it. So does anyone know if Brita or PUR water filters also removes the flouride in tap water? http://chemistry.about.com/od/chemistryhow...ovefluoride.htm The answer is no, they do not remove fluoride.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) I still get scared that I am going ot f*** something up on that cycle and kill the guys but that is really the way to go. The older guy is out of this stuff, younger guy a year more. Every two hours one or the other. Side note, I spent innings 5-9 of WS Game 3 in the Emergency Room waiting room with my son, when he finally fell asleep before seeing the doctor we left and I saw the end at home and woke him up with a scream courtesy of Geoff Blum and an asshole for Uribe on the error. Motrin and Tylenol took care of the issue. I was on edge watching the game and this gave me something to do. We probably didn't even have to go. Watched the game with a couple of hot nurses though, I was dad of the year.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) Clearly, you are not married. . Ain't that the truth.

I need to get that on DVD. I LOVED that when it came out in 1990.

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) Try switching to baby Motrin. The doc's claim it's better. Also a trick we learned was headphones with "baby music". Some kids hate things on their heads or in their ears so that wont work if she's like that. But both grandkids here respond awesome to that. Lifesaver in resturants. Actually you can alternate between Motrin and Tylenol. We know all those tricks.

I sent you the PM's, but there's some good stuff in here if you want to try it first. If not, I'll do what we are talking about.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) The GOP will have the first black, and woman President. The GOP faithful will for for that candidate because the person isn't a Dem, and Dems would be willing to cross over, and might even want to see the barrier broken. I thought the GOP nominated the wrong Dole back then. I'd have voted for Elizabeth Dole. Powell would be such a better candidate than Obama. Just pulling two examples out my ass. Like everything else you post. ZING! The door was open - I just had to.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) And no matter what the excuse is, American workers are going to lose jobs. If Japanese car companies paid what their American counterparts did in wages, benefits, and pensions, they wouldn't be able to provide the quality that they do. What are jobs in Detroit worth to you? (meaning people in general) Abbbbbbbbbbbbbbsolutely nothing - nor do any other buying decisions (made in China, Thailand, Mexico, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.) HOW CHEAP CAN I GET THIS?!?!?! is all that matters.

You could upload it to my ftp site - I could probably figure it out. . . I have about a bazillion programs for that stuff since I have to do all the video work for my "other" website(s).

When you install the codecs, they become a part of windows media player.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) Who are you with? I went with Reliant's Wind Energy plan. Most of the time I'm paying .14 kw I don't have a choice. Electric Co-Op.

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) Up the dose of baby Tylenol.. Yea, that didn't work so good a couple of weeks ago when we had to fly . . . but she was soooooo tired that she had herself wired and wouldn't sleep. She screamed for 15 minutes after take-off and then fell asleep, even through the landing.

oh. AVI are big. I would try XVID codecs from microsoft's site (as BS alluded to).

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) Phil Flynn. Anyways, it really isn't a good sign that prices have rallied as we have left the summer driving season. I could believe seeing $5 gas next summer. We still haven't had anything really bad happen, and we are still that high. One bad thing, and it is going to get ugly. So, it's a presidential election cycle - we can have a hurricane hit the gulf, and (God forbid) something else happen to rattle the markets, and we would see $1.00 price increase hit the pumps in less then a week next year from where-ever the price is next year. I would have to guess that it will be somewhere around $3.50 a gallon BEFORE anything "bad" happens.
-
Or you can email me the file and I can look at it.
-
Try playing it in winamp.
-
Well, I don't know if I can make that one. It seems like it will get harder and harder for little one to fly as she gets older, until she's 5 or 6 when it's cool.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) And since Camrys are not made here in the U.S., employing American workers, I think the whole "buy American, protect America" thing has lost some of its footing. Actually they are - and Americans are being employed to make them.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) When did we ever have personal responsibility for our retirement? We had company pensions and retirement benefits and people worked for these companies all their lives. You certainly are old enough to remember your grandparent's careers. And how many Enrons are out there? People who invested for their retirement and then found the companies had not financed the plans properly? But conservatives like to ignore that stuff. I'm all for personal responsibility in this, but conservatives like to think every investment is beautiful and pure. Some HS degreed service industry employee will suddenly become Warren Buffett with their retirements. Of course with all the old money republican companies on Wall Street looking to make a killing, it's the GOP saying, we'll take care of you, for a fee I'm not ignorant. I know what my grandparents did for a living very well. Something that my grandparents, and my parents taught me, is that *I* am responsible for ME. I don't count on companies taking care of me. I don't count on government taking care of me. I don't count on my children taking care of me when I'm old (although I would like to think I would raise her in a way that she would WANT to, but it is her choice). I don't count on handouts taking care of me. I have to work my ass off for what I get, and if I don't, I have to find another way to take care of myself. No one is going to do anything but me. If I make a mistake, it's on me, not my government because (dammit no healthcare, no retirement, no (insert entitlement here)). If I choose to scoop s*** on the street for a career, I need to face the consequences of that choice. If I choose to invest in myself and get an education that will make me compete in the business world, then I have made a choice to better myself so I have the skills to compete in the market place. Why is that so damn hard to fathom today? Part of the answer is most people feel ENTITLED to something that's not theirs in the first place. Most of the kids nowadays EXPECT things to be handed to them because they are brought up that way. I am going to do my damndest to make sure my little girl has a work ethic to work hard in life because her hard work will result in being able to take care of herself.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) Let's be clear - people might "buy American" if American car companies made cars that were at least as good as their Japanese counterparts. Unfortunately, they do not. ^^^^ I gotta be honest, I said I would never buy a Toyota. But for the price AND RELIABILITY (parts don't mysteriously break down at 75,001 of a 75,000 mile warranty), I got a Camry. It is a good car.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) Can we all argee that Jerry Owens is the new Scott Podsednik? (well minus the injuries) BARF. BARF. BARF. FLUUUUUUUUUUSH. /carry on

What the hell happened to personal responsibility in this country? Seriously. I can ask that question on about every subject that the Democrats want to "take care of us" on.

Steve-O - I see you changed your Rexy sig.
