Rove can spin this out of his ass 20 ways from Sunday. The point is these screwtards couldn't get the message out to the people because of their arrogance and got their asses handed to them. There isn't much other way to spin it. When a party can come to power under a platform that is made of nothing, it's a sad testament to who was in power.

Rex, why should these people have "rights" guaranteed under our constitution, WHEN THEY ARE NOT RESIDENTS OF OUR COUNTRY?!? There are legal ways to get here. Do it right, or don't come at all. (Note: I'm NOT saying that these people should be held "forever", but I am saying that they should not be entitled to s***, because they are illegal and should pay the appropriate consequences.)

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 01:50 AM) In other words...if something does change, be excited and let them have your vote next time it comes around. If not, then we'll see if the other side has any better options. Eventually, some party is going to be stupid enough to realize that they can win a bunch of elections by actually changing the culture of lobbyists and pork in Congress, because the people are sick of it. At least, that will be my hope. Now that much we can agree on. But don't hold your breath, because they are all enamoured by the power.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) I'm not happy with what they've done in the past. But before I condemn them as being ineffective as a majority leader, I want to see what they do as a majority. Why would it change, Rex? There's simply no reason to think anything will change.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) nearly 3000 Americans have died in a war of choice that we're losing, and the economic situation at home would have to be awfully good before people would start turning their backs on it. That right there says VOLUMES about what is wrong with things.

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) the economy may be good now but doubling the debt in 6 years, the ball will drop sometime. A change in what indeed. And what would you have us do, Einstein of Economics? Let's see. Recession handed to administration. Check. 9/11. Check. A war. Check. Oh, and this just in... the deficit is shrinking VERY rapidly because there is more economic GROWTH that was generated over the past 6 years then anyone thought. A change in what indeed. Look, I'm not saying that there is not stupid, wasteful spending. There is. But I think it's amazing how all this comes down to Democrat vs. Republican. And, for the third time, I agree that some of this (original) post is dookey disguised in RNC talking points. But some of it is very true. What does that mean? The election cycle was very mishandled IMO.
-
They put Mel Martinez up for the Chair of the RNC? What a joke. Our whole politcal ssystem SUCKS right now.
-
And she should. Murtha is just exactly what they were "trying to get rid of in Washington".

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) They're following my advice from a previous post. They are thinking long term. This is something that their culture does. Our culture on the other hand, absolutely doesn't (or isn't patient). And that is why ultimately China will be the most powerful nation on earth. They're almost there now.
-
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) Fixed. Also fixed. The Dems just followed suit. BushCo made this election, as he did 2004, about Iraq and security. And I think that was his parties' mistake. He needed to turn it to what's happening here, and also it is about Iraq.
-
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) And if the situation were reversed, a similar email would have gone out. I may have to pull an Alec Baldwin if we elect another Bush...move to Canada. Or at least threaten to move to Canada. There were some of the same paralells in 1994. It was more about a social change then and it's the same now.

An interesting sidebar... It was just annouced over the last week or two that China is investing $9 Billion into Africa ... let's see where all that money goes. They are hoping that this helps curb the violence that the continent is seeing and distributes wealth around enough to curb this type of violence.

The Official Soxtalk Poster Elections - Discussion Thread
kapkomet replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
Mr Kinky! LMAO! That has to be Tex's new screen name. -
I doubt it will happen, because the Democrats know they need him.
-
I said it at the outset, some of it is 'spun', but overall... the general going on in the country is what most would consider as very good. Iraq was packaged by the Democrats as the end all be all of this election, and that may be the right thing, or it may not be. Everything else was rejected as 'nonimportant' and that's my point with posting this.
-
Now some of this is very skewed, but some of it is right on. Too bad the message couldn't be delivered better then it was...

The Official Soxtalk Poster Elections - Discussion Thread

Nice... this could be fun... Listen, I have finals and stuff to get through, but I want to participate. What's the time range (limit) that you want to accept entries for this? -
When we talk about Africa in my MBA classes, most people (at least academia) don't see that as a good market for a little while yet, because of the stories that are listed above...
-
What the Dems want (at least the hard-left) is Murtha. What should happen is Hoyer, for many reasons.
-
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Prediction: Hoyer wins Majority Leader post. Handily. It's the smart move (Hoyer), but Nancy is showing her true colors, already.
-
Desparate my ass. They were, and obviously they didn't get the message until Tuesday night, did they?
-
For me, Soxy, it's getting the government out of the social aspects of our daily lives (oversimplified).
-
It's my opinion that we will see a shift of power about every 12-16 years from here on out, until our "two party" system gets "overthrown". And by "overthrown", I mean that a serious crisis comes to a head where a serous third (or even fourth) party cleans out the Republicans and Democrats out of office. Why? Because both parties are too driven by power and greed. I think it's disgusting when a party did what the Republicans have done for the last 2-4 years - and the flip side, I think it's disgusting that the opposition party can scream, kick, block, and b**** about EVERYTHING the other party does, and the day after election day, say "we need to work together"... it's bulls***, and a falase pretense... why couldn't they "work together" before the election? Oh, because they have to have POWER before they can do that. That's the part of the system that I can't stand... it's not about representation anymore, it's about power.

Hey, wait a minute...
