QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) What if pigs fly out of my ass????? They'd have wires attached to them.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) The Bush administration has succeeded in making the United States one of the most feared and hated countries in the world. The talent of these guys is unbelievable. They have even succeeded at alienating Canada. I mean, that takes genius, literally. Is this last part your quote, or a part of the article?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Mostly I attend a breakaway home church that has gotten away from organized "Church" and has really tried to go back to what the new testament services looked like. Its really interesting. Lots of what we do is look at where traditions have come from, and if that was really supposed to be apart of a church in the first place. Preach on, dude. That's pretty much what we're doing now. We have a group of about 15 people that meet most every Saturday night. We just stopped attending the church we used to... for the very reason why I didn't go to church for 15 years... political crap and drama.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) There was a heated discussion yesterday between a handful of people. You were not involved. One day later you call me an ass and proceed to tell me that I like to push buttons. Interesting. Yea, because I didn't read it until this morning. I posted what I read. That's a fact. I'm done now. Thanks for playing.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Or how about these by Ted Kennedy?: Oops, I enlisted for 4 years, let's get Daddy Bootlegger / Ambassador to get it knocked down to 2 Now you're talking about Bush. Stop that.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Please don't speak for me because I did not know exactly what he meant. It was ambigous the way I read it. And he clarified it, I don't know, about 5 times... I think one likes to push buttons. And before you try to fling the dookie ball back, yea, I do, because it's a message board.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) The chief whistleblower/patriot has been identified as Russell Tice. Risin declined to identify him, but Tice copped to it on Nightline Tuesday. Boy, that book sale is going well, isn't it?

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Take a look in the mirror. And I don't resort to name calling as you do. You proceeded to make, I don't know, about 10 posts about what is "fact"... you know damn well what he meant, and you kept twisting it. Enough, already. Although I see you made your peace... so whatever, carry on. Edit - yea, I call everyone names... :rolly it's my new mantra...

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) Your words, not mine. GMAFB. Do you wanna piece of me? I'll take you back to the woodshed... GMAFB. I do have one serious question, to turn the conversation back to abortion, you know, the lightning rod issue... I've said before that Roe v. Wade is NOTHING but a political hack law that Dems and Repubs spend millions and millions of dollars on, and really, neither party wants to see it overturned for that very reason. Now, let's think about this, though. If Roe v. Wade gets overturned, what happens? It doesn't mean that abortion is illegal!! WHAT A CONCEPT! It cracks me up how everyone just assumes that. All that simply means is that the STATES will determine their own law... which is the way it should be anyway. Interesting slant? Just curious what you think about that (no matter what your belief on the ISSUE is).

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Don't you all love how religion breeds love and not hatred? Why do you insist on needling and being such an ass? I used to have respect for you, now all you do is taunt. It's getting old.

I really do wish it would get ran up and decided on by SCOTUS. All you supposed constitutional experts are killing me. Myself included.
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 04:21 AM) No. He signed right up because he's a racial (and sexist), bigoted asshole. I'm glad you know the man personally and can make that WONDERFUL, INSIGHTFUL comment about him. Again, GMAFB.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:09 AM) "by all means necessary" does NOT give him leeway to break the law. Congress has no authority and no desire to give any President to do that. And YOU say he broke the law and many other scholars say he hasn't. Take it all the way up and let's have a ruling.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:29 AM) each and every nominee, no matter who appoints them, should be grilled intensively. This is a lifetime appointment to the or of one the most important positions in our country. the position doesnt even allow for will of the people in terms of voting people in. im tired of the dogsh*t answers that these guys come with during their confirmations too. The whole process stinks. turn the tables. the dog s*** answers the senators who basically are now elected for eternity or until they're pickled, or our presidents who can't answer any questions without the pie in the sky bulls***, or (on and on and on)
-
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) No it's not. A state of war is. Unless we formally declare one, we aren't technically in one. And his powers are limited. Read the resolutions that were passed by Congress. "by all means necessary" is a pretty much blank check to do whatever he needs to do.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) I certainly wouldn't want to – if I had been a member of a campus anti-diversity organization, that is. :rolly If 30 years ago I was an active member of the KKK, you don't think that knowing this today would shed the tiniest bit of light on where my ideologies lie? Congress can't ask nominees anything about an aything that a nominee might potentially have to rule on in the future, so they are stuck looking at past rulings, briefs, and opinions, and also these sorts of forks in the paper trail. But, in the spirit of full disclosure: 30 years ago I was a card carrying member of the both the KISS Army and Friends Of Old Marvel. Yessireee, I got a closetfull of skeletons. Yea, the f***ing bumper sticker to the organization had on it "we are racial, bigoted assholes who profile against minorities of all kinds... future supreme court nominees need not apply..." and Alito signed right up to become a part of a huge ass witch hunt 30 years later. GMAFB. :rolly

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Booo! Bad Joke! Rejected! Try again later! That was a joke?

Maybe he should be the senator for CALIFORNIA writing kids books after having (allegedly) murdering someone.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) How are we pulling at yarn strings? Let's say it's not you that's implicated, but your friend. And your friend calls you. And from what I understand, its not direct ties that these wiretaps are looking at either but rather people who are suspected of talking with people who are suspected of having ties with a terrorist organization. There's lots of room for error there. If the need is that great and necessary, a warrant should be easy to obtain. This isn't a question of whether or not the spying is necessary, but whether or not following the law is. Our President has openly admitted that he is not following the law. And again, that's up for debate. I think that the Constitution, when taken literally, gives him this power under unique circumstances. Apparantly, flying planes into buildings and the like isn't unique enough.

My commie ass better stay out of this thread.
-
30 fricking years ago - on an application. Who here would want to sit in front of Congress answering some lame ass question about this kind of stuff? And before I get the "well, it's important" pure bulls*** answer, no, it's not. If you think it is, get over yourselves.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) OK fine, substitute muslim for palestinian and the point is exactly the goddamn same. testy, testy, testy. -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) How can a fact include "I believe"? Isn't that an opinion? The FACT is he believes that statement.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) What was God punishing you for? I don't know, but damn it was horrible. I hadn't been that sick since probably college. Back to work today - and I'm reaaaaaly wanting to go to sleep. It's draining catching up on soxtalk.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) That's what you said. And that's exactly what you would do if you spoke with reporters based in Iraq. If they are actually going out and doing investigative journalism, they've associated with international terrorists. Our government officials have met with Saddam Hussein and have spoken with Khatami, the former president of Iran. They have, at least in the government's eyes, have association with international terrorists. Should they lose their rights? Of course not. This may seem stupid and pointless and arrogant, but I'm trying to make a point here. Rights are rights. And if there's an asterisk on it, it's not really a right anymore. DIRECT TIES, not throught someone or something, or someone who talked to someone else. Now we're pulling at yarn strings to pull the whole ball of yarn down. I see what you're saying, but I still think that if you're stupid enough to get involved, then you might have people listen in on a phone conversation.
