  1. What a s***bag thread this turned into. Thanks, Tex, for putting it out there for some people to verbally beat the s*** out of each other. Man, get sick for two days and miss a lot.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) Its like they were reading Soxtalk too... http://news.ft.com/cms/s/cf26b6b2-820b-11d...00779e2340.html If people would just listen to us... the world would be a better place.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 05:39 PM) I think that comes about because of this stupid rule where the nominee is allowed to claim that he won't talk about business that might come before the court while he's on it. If you could just come out and ask a guy how he would rule on a hypothetical, that would make this vastly easier, but instead, we're left with all these little word games which try to get answers to exactly those sorts of questions without really asking them. Good point... it just drives me crazy. And unfortunately, it's in all politics. Iraq and WMD's The definition of "is" "No New Taxes" etc.
  4. Why does this all have to be about "bait and switch"? And I mean that both of the questioners and the answerer...

    Geneology

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) It's sad, when that is one of the biggest attractions the city has. It is nationally (and in some cases internationally known) for the geneology part of the library. It is indeed very good, though.
  6. See my sig. That's about all I have to say about that.

    Geneology

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) I can tell you that the organization that has the single largest depository of geneological information is... the Mormon Church. Scary, huh? And for those of you in Fort Wayne Indiana (hi greasy) the library there is WONDERFUL for geneology.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) So if a reporter who covered middle eastern politics called you, you've lost your rights? Is that what I said? No.
  9. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 07:02 AM) I've yet to come to a conclusion on Yawney, and i don't think i will for a while. To his defense, the talent he has to work with is complete bulls***. For those of us who actually know the game and the players, you realize that there are 3rd and 4th liners playing on the top two lines. As far as the defense goes, on any given night he has maybe 2-3 defenseman that could cut it as a #3 or #4 on some teams. No, Aucoin has not been a #1 this year, not even a #2. Then Khabibulin has been a letdown (and is now hurt), so we've got a backup in net in Anderson. All i'm saying is unless you really, really know the game of hockey, layoff Yawney at this point. His system may not be perfect, but this roster has almost no talent and the goals that have been scored haven't been due to system flaws as much as you would all like to think. It's just guys making terrible decisions, terrible passes, terrible coverage. That's not something you can just throw on the coach. Not even close. Oh I have. They have NO SYSTEM. Why do you think they take all those stupid penalties at the worst times of the game? Because they are out of position. They don't know where they're supposed to be out on the ice. The lack of discipline on the ice starts behind the bench. For all the good things I heard about Yawney before the season, all of them were 100% wrong. You all keep saying "lack of talent". Look at Buffalo. They are not setting the world on fire, but they're consistent, and they have little "talent". Hockey is the one team sport, when played as a TEAM, can overcome the lack of a big name.
  10. When him and Crosby played each other the first time, it was one of the most entertaining games I had seen in years. And that's saying something.
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) Just some updated data... 56% of Americans (in poll) believe that warrants should be necessary EVEN FOR OVERSEAS CALLS, let alone domestic... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060111/ap_on_...ropping_ap_poll Not that popular opinion is all that important in matters of law, of course, but there is interesting information in the data from the poll. One quote from the article in particular, scares the s**t out of me: It amazes me how little people care about their Constitutional rights. When we as a nation give up caring about them, guess where they go? And who the heck has a name like Ice-Bones anyway? People care. I care. But I also think if you're stupid enough to make phone calls with people associated with international terrorists, you lost your rights.
  12. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) And its audio quality, in my opinion, is worse than FM radio. Especially their talk radio channels which sound like crappy streaming mp3s. The early satellite radios weren't good. The quality is a lot better now.
  13. I love it when something like this happens they say "trust us, the water's fine"... :puke Maybe that's why I've been sick the last two days. /doesn't get water from the Trinity
  14. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) The January effect is in full effect. It was really nice to see the indices take a little rest today without any decline in the averages. Meanwhile, a number of analysts are calling for gains north of 20% this year. I'd be surprised at that. Election years (even though it's a Congressional election) typically don't do that well.
  15. 1-6-06 10:00AM - Call to Conspire against Balta 1-6-06 10:02AM - Call to Conspire against some other Liberal 1-6-06 10:04AM - Call to my pal George W. 1-6-06 10:07AM - Call to Delay to give up his fight for the "good of the party" He listened to me. 1-6-06 10:10AM - Call to Cingular Wireless to sue them for releasing my records to some random guy on soxtalk.com. I later heard it was a gigantic right wing conspiracy to "block my freedom od speech rights".
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 02:14 AM) Taxes were cut across the board. Not just for the wealthy. That just tells you how brainwashed people are.
  17. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) The fact is that people who received these $2,000 cards ARE using them to buy things that are not needed. I have friends from college that live in Atlanta, they saw a high influx of people from NO. One of my friends who works as a store manager for Guess would see the NO people buying louis vuitton purses and other HIGH priced items. Is this what they should be spending the TAX PAYERS money on??
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Um Hello!! Who is insinuating? NUKE just made a blatant racist comment and I pointed it out. No grey area there my friend. I stand corrected. But, this stuff is a hot button with me.
  19. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) YEAH YEAH.......BUSH IS AN STUPID.......HES CORRUPT.......YEAH YEAH That kind of message is really going to get your side somewhere. They keep trying. That's for sure.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) And I am questioned for calling some people on this board as racist. Unreal. So since you're Polish I guess you don't spend your money on deodorant. Yea, you are. Because it's f***ing ignorant. Have you ever heard the parable, give the man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, he feeds himself for a lifetime? These people want fed for a day, and that's my problem with them. White, black, purple, yellow, glow-in-the-dark, it doesn't matter. For you to insinutate I'm (or people like me are) racist is absolutely f***ing ignorant.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) Which fact are you referring to? I was just commenting on how obvious that there are people on this site with silver spoons in their mouths who show their true colors. I was raised Catholic and was taught that Jesus helped those less fortunate. He didn't whine that they should stop asking for handouts. But then again, Jesus would be considered a lefty extremist with his views if he were around today. :lolhitting First of all, you have no right to judge ANYONE on here about what's typed on this screen. Second of all, God gave us a brain and the ability to help ourselves as well. Yes, we are supposed to help ... but we also need to help ourselves and not become DEPENDANT on handouts. I do my share to help those that are less fortunate, and you have no right to judge me because I'm saying that those people that are in N.O. need to try and help themselves instead of complaining that givernment handouts are not enough.
  22. QUOTE(S720 @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) Have you peoples seen a clip where Bush was confronted by a soldier in military outfit with a question regarding Iraq, and he just gave his goofy smile and turned his back on this soldier? Didn't even answer it! ALL of our politicians will experience odd moments like this, and that's the exact REASON why Bush will always have his so-called "Town Meeting" STAGED! The chicken &*^%! Yep. What an asshole. f***ing prick. STAGED OUTRAGE!!!!
  23. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) http://www.texasobserver.org/showArticle_n...sp?ArticleID=13 Four months after he took the oath of office in 2001, President George W. Bush was the attraction, and the White House the venue, for a fundraiser organized by the alleged perpetrator of the largest billing fraud in the history of corporate lobbying. In May 2001, Jack Abramoff’s lobbying client book was worth $4.1 million in annual billing for the Greenberg Traurig law firm. He was a friend of Bush advisor Karl Rove. He was a Bush “Pioneer,” delivering at least $100,000 in bundled contributions to the 2000 campaign. He had just concluded his work on the Bush Transition Team as an advisor to the Department of the Interior. He had sent his personal assistant Susan Ralston to the White House to work as Rove’s personal assistant. He was a close friend, advisor, and high-dollar fundraiser for the most powerful man in Congress, Tom DeLay. Abramoff was so closely tied to the Bush Administration that he could, and did, charge two of his clients $25,000 for a White House lunch date and a meeting with the President. From the same two clients he took to the White House in May 2001, Abramoff also obtained $2.5 million in contributions for a non-profit foundation he and his wife operated. That well may have happened. But, at least it wasn't money from the Chinese government.
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Where did i say Government? You didn't but the ones crying are.
  25. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) So what do you do for the least of New Orleansians? Let's say someone's got a low wage, low skill job making in the 7-8 dollar an hour range in the New Orleans area and is renting. Chances are the person is just barely making enough to get by as it is, and may be in such a low income bracket that these flood prone houses or apartments are his only affordable spot he can find. How do we make sure these folks are taken care of? That's my concern. My beef is all these people screaming and b****ing HELP ME and then when they are helped, they scream louder about how it's not enough. We had a family move in RIGHT next door to us. They're "Katrina folks". They're nice people (from what I can tell because I haven't spent hours talking to them or anything)... but they came here, started fresh, got new jobs, and are taking care of themselves the best way they know how. People like that, I would help as much as I possibly could because THEY are taking it up with themselves to make something out of a bad situation. To me, that's totally different then most of the people we see on the news screaming bloody murder that nothing's being done. In this world, you have to help yourself, too, instead of b****ing about your circumstances and asking for a handout everytime Uncle Sam takes a s***.
