  1. ok... I wasn't around... I just stated what could have happened. It's back open, I'm sure you all have noticed by now.
  2. Before you pile on the s*** storm, if he was posting when the thread was locked, he can still post and not know the difference. I've done that before and not meant to.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) No. the way it works is I'm playing in place of Penn State tonight. Helps to insure my pool victory. So did you win?
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Wow. You would think after all of the misinformation that got passed off as fact after Katrina the media and officials would have learned a lesson, I guess not. More info on the timeline of things. http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/04/mine.expl....wed/index.html AL GORE WINS FLORIDA. Katrina. This. The media is nothing but a bunch of whores looking for the "STORY". And these poor people got caught in the middle. It's very sad.
  5. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 03:13 AM) http://news.pajamasmedia.com/2005/12/19/67...Will_Retu.shtml Abrmoff was an equal opportunity scumbag. If he talks, ALOT of people, on both sides, are going down. DeLay is the biggest fish in a HUGE pond. I agree, there will be fundamental changes if this guy sings to "protect" both sides.
  6. Back to the topic - this doesn't make a lot of sense... I would think we'd want to get a little more value out of Count. His value would be higher then this, IMO... however, it could be a "cost cutting" measure.
  7. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) That's fair, but blame needs to be assigned elsewhere as well. Don't single me out. But it's so fun! To be candid, you joined recently, and I personally notice that you've got an edge with your tone. It came out pretty quickly IMO, so I thought I'd say something. I probably shouldn't have in this thread, but oh well. Happy Trails!

    Gyros

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) King Gyros? The guy started it out as that in Marion - but now it's this little restaurant (not in Michigan City but in Wabash) and the food is even better (not so greasy) - and lots more of it. A little off topic but related to gyros... I was scanning through channels the other night before we left ... and there was Alton Brown (of Food Network fame) with a half hour show on how to make homemade gyros. I tivo'd it and I think I just might try it.
  9. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) Your assignment of blame tells me that you didn't read the thread very thoroughly. No, it's only 30 pages, and I'm sure that I skipped a few posts. However, it doesn't make it any better. If you don't want to be a magnet for controversy, then be a better poster ™ and please refrain from fanning the flames. That's all I'm trying to say.
  10. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I agree that he's overrated, just like everyone else in the eye of the NY media. That doesn't mean that he's not a great defensive player, though. He's at least as good as Uribe (I'd argue a little better) with a much better bat and more clutch plays in the post-season. Looks like I've missed some fun while I was away. WCSox, Oregon? And, I'll add, where did you get so smart to be able to talk down to everyone? Just checking.

    Gyros

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 06:28 AM) 35 South to 37 South to 281 South to Trenton West to 10th Street South and in about 10 hours you can have the best gyros in Texas. I'll even buy Someday I might take ya up on that deal.

    Gyros

There's this little gyro place in Indiana that I have to go to every time I go up north. Man that stuff is good.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) And yet both of them somehow came to agreement that Clinton would have invaded Iraq as well.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) I'm THIS close to changing my allegience to the Phoenix Coyotes right now. Can anyone give me a reason besides Tuomo Ruutu not to? How about Nashville? We need some more Darcy Hordichuk fans around here. Who, by the way had another goal last night and has 6 points in the last 8 games, and 3 points in the last two games. wOOt!
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) He coughed a lot. That's about it. I bet he had a pretzel.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) Here's the secret grassroots is cheap. If you throw a little money into one of these noncompetitive races in Texas and an incumbent looks a little vulnerable, the incumbent's party will throw a s*** ton of money to protect the incumbent. Money that could have been funneled into a more competitive race. What does that really accomplish?
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) First of all, Air America is actually closing in on Limbaugh's ratings in several markets already, and is holding steady at about/above the level of O'Reilly in NY. But here's the real question...is it fair to judge the entire spectrum of liberal opinion based on a comparison between a year and a half old network only available in about 90 cities nationwide and shows that have been on the air for years, have massive TV exposure, and are on 500-1000 or more channels nationwide? Yes. The liberals had the same chance years ago to gain market share, and they couldn't. Now they have to gain it the hard way.

    Wildfires

Doing ok so far! I just hope none of these critters get close enough to my house to matter. On one side of my neighborhood, it's nothing but brush and open field. Pretty scary if for some reason that should go up... we'd be right in the line of fire, literally.
  19. Well, I was looking at some of the financial data last night - the yield curve on bonds was inverted. You will get more for your investment if you invest short term vs. long term in bonds - which often signals a recession. Yes, there's things that can be done - like the Fed can stop raising rates... It will be interesting to see how this plays out down the road. I see today's market it's "corrected" itself. But they are still very close together (the 2 year yield vs. the 10 year yield). Comments, southsider, aka Mr. Bowtie?
  20. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) yeah how much did he make for the Tsunami and New Orleans help??? How dare the immortible BJ Clinton get picked on!! I'm saying this in jest, because it comes from all sides. It's funny to sit back and watch this.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) Interesting that you mentioned Reagans paid engagements, but not Clintons... That is exactly what he has been doing since he retired, making speeches and getting paid a ton of money to do so. Yes, so he can pay his legal bills off.
  22. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 06:24 AM) Carter, Clinton and Bush might all be terrible presidents but they haven't even come close to doing what those fools (Pierce, Buchanan) did. The new rally cry for Democrats: What about Iraq? Torture? "Illegal" Wiretapping? No substance, just what the "other guy" is doing "wrong".

    Wildfires

What a weird weather pattern we are in. Today was 82 degrees - with a dew point of 16 - that's a relative humidity of 7%. Combine that with 30 mph winds and a serious drought, it became a tinderbox. The air is really smokey here now. All sorts of fires all around where I live. None are close enough to burn our house down or anything... but from what the weather is saying, we are supposed to stay in this pattern for at least 10 days. I guess a person was killed earlier tonight because of the fires. I sure hope we get some rain at some point. It's been the driest year in 56 years here.
  24. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) No way in hell does she clean house in the midwest like you're saying. You're also failing to recognize that Hilliary is an object of maximum scorn from Republicans from coast to coast. Our smear machine would drag her through the mud from the moment she won the nomination stopping only to piss in the mudhole and Id be loving every 30 seconds of it. No way does that socialist win anything but a trip back to Arkansas. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) But New York is home I'm with Nuke, no way can she win. Too many people aren't ready for a female Dem President. I think the Swifties would seem restraint by comparison to what the anti-Hillary forces will bear. You don't think they are ready for that? People have a short memory... and for some reason, the Clintons are adored by more then hate them. Hillary is throwing curve after curve to make herself more "moderate"... and the last two years is all people will remember except the fringes.
  25. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) We won't have an honest picture of how Bush 43 does for another 30-40 years or so I feel. We're just starting to get a good focus on Reagan, 18 years on. The hallmark of a President's success is not what he necessarily accomplishes in office, but also what happens one, five, ten, twenty years afterwords as a result of his policies. Oh, I agree 100%. But boy, the bashers are sure quick to say (our current president) is the "WORST EVER".
