  1. All I know is that my personal tax bill is going to go up $3,000+ next year. And I am NOT "rich", in fact, far from it as I look at my bank account going down to almost nothing.
  2. So, who's in power right now? Also, media matters says hi.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) The Senate has filibustered the DISCLOSE act, the proposed response to the Campaign Finance Supreme Court ruling that would require corporations and unions funding ads to reveal themselves and require groups to reveal their donors. I'll bet you'll never guess who the 41 Senators voting to Filibuster it were. This would have been an excellent response to the Citizens United decision. The only possible reason why you'd oppose it is if you thought a key part of your support would be made up by money coming from business or union interests who's support you didn't want to acknowledge publicly. Why do you hate "freedom of speech"? Think about that before you answer... at least a little...
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) (Excuse here: I don't have a subscription so I'm behind a subscriber wall and I can only see what others excerpt). Booo. I'll look it up - because the data is wildly inconsistent from what I just read... but I'm a week behind on my papers, so I'll get there in a day or two...
  5. I just downloaded dolphin and it works perfectly... thank you, bs!
  6. Happy birthday, lib...
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) One economic issue here worth pointing out now that the bill has died and the EPA will wind up issuing rules...the death of the bill is itself an economic drag, because the utility and energy companies aren't stupid. Most of them know that a CO2 rule is eventually going to come, but they are loathe to invest until they have some idea of what the basic outline of the rules are, so they're sitting on cash that could be invested right now. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) I wasn't trying to blame them, I was trying to suggest it's a logical consequence of the bill hanging out there for a year and then falling apart. Did that not come through correctly? That's entirely the right move on their part. Do you not understand that is a huge problem with this administration, and it's on damn near every policy this guy has? NO ONE knows where ANYTHING is going... and it's a product of his incompetence. Meanwhile, people like you go around screaming LA LA LA LA LA LA... corporations suck, government must regulate more, hope and change, etc. In case you hadn't noticed, it doesn't work.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) This chart ran in the WSJ today. You know what's f***ed up? The exact same data ran in the WSJ a month ago and it said the opposite. I read this cover to cover every day... and that one stuck, so which is it? And Balta, that's not against you, but something is messed up here somewhere.
  9. That's just it, commentary and news are supposed to be two different things. But whatever, this will get nauseating in a hurry if we go down that route for the seventyeith bizzillionth time.
  10. You defend everything the government does and hate everything the private sector does. I've seen hate ons before, but not like you.
  11. Hmmm. What browser? The one that comes with the phone? I was also thinking that it might have something to do with flash... Now, the phone just shuts the browser down. I might try loading opera on it and see if it loads.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) No issues with the EVO which runs the android OS. which one? 2.1 or 2.2? I guess 2.2 (Froyo) is getting ready to be released this week for those that have 2.1. It's an over the air update.
  13. Damn it. I will have to see what I can figure out... anyone else able to access? I am using pdanet to tether... it's pretty fast actually.
  14. For everyone else, it is a choice of whether or not you want it up by choosing your skin default ... again at the lower left of the page. I personally like it, except when I'm on the damn phone...
  15. I just changed out the default skin so when you log onto the page for the first time, the scoreboard isn't there. It ALMOST loaded, and got to the bottom of the page, and it told me I had to force close the page. Which is interesting, because with the scoreboard, it froze to where I had to take the battery out to reset the phone. Anyway, weirdness and aggravating.
  16. I know, our country f***ing sucks. SUCKS! We better knock us down a peg or trillion.
  17. Probably. I'm leaving it cause it's funny.
  18. It's f***ing summer, lost. You act like it never happened before.
  19. Yup, redistribution of wealth is helping out everyone... whatever.
  20. Yea, go read my thread in SLaM, that's partly why I switched it was because of phone use. For some reason, I can't get soxtalk to load on the phone - freezes EVERY time.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) So, you're so angry about those bonuses that you want to go dissolve a few union contracts. SO, like, SO, like, SO... it's ridiculous. Yea. Dissolve them all. Twist, SO, twist some more, twist, SO...
  22. Do any of you have trouble with soxtalk freezing up with a driod? It's the only damn site that messes up on me, go figure. Just wondered if you all have the same issue.
  23. The "default" template is now soxtalk pro without scoreboard... just in case it matters to you. For those that have your login set, you won't have to change it. If you want to change it back to the with scoreboard skin, the settings are in the lower left of your screen.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) So, your argument is that once those companies went bankrupt without the Fed/Congressional intervention, they'd have kept their gigantic salaries from the defunct company? So, kap says X, it therefore must be Y. You all want a good reason why these companies SHOULD have gone bankrupt, here's one of them, altough most of the time, salary contracts stay intact - but the law would allow dissolution of these contracts. It just depends. They don't have to legally - except for unions, of course. You can thank your almighty president for that.
  25. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) He doesn't have the power to walk right out of Iraq. People like to think that when it's convenient but he doesn't and never did. It's physically impossible. He never said he was going to leave Afghanistan. Ever. Unless Dick Cheney is a credible source of information. He DOES have that power, but it would have been stupid. But for you to say it's not his policy now is like blaming Bush on everything bad happening now. Oh, wait.
