Where the hell is that? Who would have thought 10 years ago I would have ended up in Dallas, Texas, after being stuck in the middle of nowhere for 5 years?
-
Actually here in Dallas there are a lot of companies that are hiring again. Locally, you can see things picking up pretty well. In northeast Dallas, where the tech corridor is, you have all these new buildings and it just STOPS - skeletons of buildings, etc not finished because the money ran out. Just lately, they've started rebuilding out there, albiet slowly... Our company is doing pretty well, but we're in healthcare. We're hiring lots of folks right now. There hasn't been any mass layoffs here in a bit, which is a little better then it was considering aviation is big here too.

I of course can't do that so have at it...

How's that for a thread killa?

Saw the employment stats that showed 308,000 jobs added to the economy, which was a sharper rise then the expected 123,000 jobs added. Say hello to higher interest rates sooner rather then later (damn, just when we decide to buy a house!!!!!!!)

Yea but if he made a stupid ass comment like that, he was wrong - if he didn't have proof to back it up he should have had a little bit of shut the hell up to drink before he opened his trap.

Some random thoughts: Most of the time in a presidential election year, people don't spend a lot of money, they await the results of an election before doing any major purchashing (except for me, we go and build a house, but that's another discussion - like, I'm doing my part to help the economy, hehe). Monetary policy doesn't change much in an election year. Salary costs - right now, it's true, benefits cost about 25-30% more then the base salary on average, and this can be much higher depending on medical history of the people at the company. Productivity - companies are doing more with less people, the exception being small companies that carve out a niche market and grow (I've personally hired two people for my department in the last 60 days). As a hiring manager, it's rough out there, people are starting to get antsy and want more $$ but the economy has not given back enough jobs to make the rates available for pay to rise much - we're still in the mode of there's enough talent out there to pay people less.

None taken. I just wanted to see what you thought... I would have said there would be no way that I would go to a Church of Christ, and well, I am. But it's interesting, while they do the whole acapella thing, which I am ok with (yes I like intruments etc), but this particular church doesn't hold to the doctrine very well, which is probably why I'm ok with it. It's a REBEL CoC. Hehe. And honestly I'm sort of surprised that they stay CoC because they completely splash water on a couple parts of the typical CoC doctrine.

There's Industry in the United States? I thought it was all technology.

So why do you say this?

This team always seems to play to their level of competition, Detroit sucked ass but they could sure handle the Sox last year. Because of this it cost them in the end. I hope that's where attitude makes up the difference for talent this year.

I hate April 1.

You are in so much trouble. I'm going to cut and paste this in every thread you've ever spoken in now...

If Bush's campaign is that stupid, they certainly won't win in '04. If this is serious, then Kerry will get votes just because of Clinton. They love that guy.
-
Think Colin Powell. Probably the most important cabinet position, they usually are the ones that schooze with foreign countries to get what we want pushed forward on the agendas of the world, including the UN. There's much more to it then that but that's the short answer.
-
Rumours are circulating that Kerry wants Bill Clinton to be the Secretary of State in his administration. How crazy would that be?!!?
-
And for those of you that are new around here, now you have the answer as to why Steff's the doable one.
-
That's harsh. Come live down here for a while and we're the ones that are missing from the tally sheet!

Who's Nelson Mandela and Ghandi? I don't know who they are, but Ghost, you're world famous!

I personally think this is payback for GWB's buddies down here in Texas.

I know props are a part of the imagry that these guys present themselves under. But for some reason, this one really bugs me. You have to be more of an actor then anyone who stands for something to be a good politician now (witness Ahnold).

In a way, this kind of pisses me off. Kerry is seen in this picture with a BANNER of gas prices hanging behind him, making it look like he's such the hero on gas prices... Now, don't get me wrong, gas prices are high because of the political pressure mounted by the oil companies on the Bush administration. They have record profits right now, so I don't want to hear these oil companies piss and moan about all these new blended fuels breaking them up. That's BS. We all know it. For this reason alone I almost wouldn't vote for Bush. But I think it's rather shameful to make a banner, hang it up, and pretend to be really concerned about gas prices. I am having a hard time articulating why this picture bugs me but it does.

MORE physical trouble for Prior
kapkomet replied to KipWellsFan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Cubs suck and all but seriously that would be a damn shame to have a talent like Prior have elbow damage.
