  1. Good trade for Sox if Philly is willing. I can’t see a team in the Phillies’ position turning their catching over to Quero: Not a lot of experience and he had a negative fWar.
  2. As do the prospects that the Sox would have to trade to get Shaw. And the way he’s hyped, it would be a heavy cost. Or, would you trade Shane Smith for him? I might if he had that war playing CF.
  3. 1.5 fWAR. Considering his sub .700 OPS, and filtering out the hype that accompanied him, the 1.5 is more believable.
  4. I’d prefer Palette over either one of them (and over several others on the 40 man). Ramos has been slow to develop- I don’t know what the can do with Ramos at this point. Mead’s presence on this team still seems silly. Lee would seem to be perfectly acceptable as a backup catcher and it would be ideal if he is.… but maybe he isn’t. Quero has too much potential to only catch 2x per week.
  5. The only overslot picked in first10 rounds since 2020 to reach the majors are Burke and Cannon, 2 college pitchers. In 2023, they decided to go underslot early instead of mid-rounds and ended up with Keener and Gonzalez from picks 3 and 1. The one they played straight? Grant Taylor pick #2. Hopefully Oppr and Wolkow end up like early round picks.
  6. How about Vasil in rotation? Of course taylor too, although I guess Bannister & Co. have injury concerns (so I've read). Maybe try Cannon in pen?
  7. My preference in 2024 was "anybody but Smith." I am more of a "do not draft" guy. I still don't quite get why Sox need to honor other teams' promises to him: He was a 3-year college player, so he had no leverage to not sign. Overslot obligation seems like another reason to pick someone else. Given that Sox philosophy is to overslot and punt, a comp pick would be particularly beneficial this year.
  8. In 2020, Horn’s slot was $386,600 and he signed for $150K. At least a partial punt. Crochet was slot. The problem was signing Kelley for $3 mill when his slot was $1,580,000. Kelley was a consensus first round talent. But it was a serious miss in a 5-round draft. In 2021 Montgomery signed for slot and they then reach for Kath $1.8 mill v. slot of $1,243,600. Some of the more recent over-slots look better. Some seem unnecessary (like over-slot for Smith).
  9. I was surprised that everyone passed on him when waived last season. And since then, he basically did what he’s always done in the minors.
  10. Take the walks, never swing outside the zone, that sort of thing. Analytics blueprint. A few effective hackers will help to keep pitchers guessing.
  11. And others. I’m surprised that more don’t get started with that in the minors. Isn’t that the idea behind drafting multiple middle infielders… they should be athletic enough to play other positions. If Sosa can get his K rate below 20% and BB rate to 5% (as both were in the minors), he will be a very good professional hitter. Can’t have a lineup of just pretty-boy hitting; spice things up with a few guys who will take their hacks.
  12. Petty, Rodriguez and comp pick would be a great return; 2 of those 3 would be a good return. Getz has to be realistic. Otherwise, either a) he won’t get a deal done; or b) he’ll make one out of desperation and end up getting ripped off (again).
  13. From what I’ve seen, the Mets want to send their utility and under/never-developed infielders, an uninteresting demographic and one the Sox don’t need. I think it would be fine to grab promising, but unranked, prospects in the low minors. But I doubt that’s what the Sox are looking for.
  14. Re depth, the Sox have 11 45+ or better ranked prospects, the fewest of the teams reviewed: Brewers 20; Dodgers 18; D’Backs 18; Reds 15. This has been persistent. A lot of reaching and a lot of punting.
  15. It’s possible. The Pythagorean last year was about 70 wins and teams just sometimes come together. But they should absolutely not force it. There are some moves that could move them many steps forward that might hurt the immediate W/L. The priority for Taylor, for example, should be for him to dominate and then trade him for a Mason Miller type of deal given that they don’t want to start him. I am surprised that they are not putting Vasil in the rotation this year. But I’m not sure it’s precluded for the long-term so we’ll see.
  16. If they actually want to compete this year, yea keeping Robert makes sense. But they've been going around in circles with him from building around him, to wanting to move him. to not moving him and on and on. Maybe it's just time to bid him adieu. They really need a comp pick so try to work something out with the Reds. And see if anyone would take Benintendi for 1/2 salary. It's time for him to go too. That's 27.5 freed up.....et tu, Tucker?
  17. I don't see any need or urgency to dump the Sox depth like Quero or Sosa. They are still young players and quality depth is important; having good depth is major upgrade from the last 2 seasons. Mead on this team is just silly (still have no idea why Sox protected him). If they must trade, please do so with full diligence: no more mediocre middle relievers and please stop trading for org guys.
  18. That really is a key aspect to this, though. Meidroth had as good a season as more highly touted rookies like Cam Smith, K. Campbell and Matt Shaw. Sox have several players who did pretty well in 2025 and who should be ready to take a big step. Sox need to find out. Count me in as a Meidroth guy. If the Sox want to sign a good FA, great. But the Sox are likely going to win in the 70s regardless, some mediocre and below FA might crowd out more than they help. I’m not referring really to Murakami (I don’t have much of a read on him). To that end, I I hope some of these guys shag balls in the OF…just to see.
  19. Glad to see it. Houser pitched his tail of for the Sox and he seemed like a real positive and good guy.
  20. How accurate are framing measurements? Has all pitcher-bias been wringed out of them? Anyway, every team can see those framing ratings.so unless an interested team doesn't care about that, then he'll be sold at depressed value. At least wait and see how things function under the auto-zone..
  21. What impresses me is that in 170 pro innings, Alberto has given up 2 home runs. TWO. Skubal gave up 18 in like 200 innings last year. Diaz gave up 4 in 66 innings.
  22. I actually have an answer for that. ts and ys don't work on my personal laptop, so I have to copy and paste. I can' decide on which laptop to buy.
