I see Roch and Carlson on different timelines/generations. Emerson might have made Carlson expendable. Roch makes one of Colson/Meidroth/Vargas maybe even Antonacci expandable soon enough? A while back, I suggested that the Sox trade Vargas after 27 if they aren't resigning him (that was a very popular suggestion). Roch could fit right in. Colson was annoying at the end of the season; but he's a good defender and with just a bit more contact..... Sox even have some other MI that look interesting. Maybe another Meidroth that we don't know about. I'm hoping Meidroth is the Sox version of Altuve for the next 10 years.

Why isn't Peters part of the core? Played an excellent CF with offensive numbers similar to Meidroth. He's also fast and could steal more than he does. I get the sense that there is a concern that his 2026 production was luck-induced; that could be true, but it's not like he had some gaudy batting average propping things up. His walk rate could use improvement (for this regime; it would be top tier in prior regimes).

One other aspect that the Sox underutilize is the steal. Sos have some fast players. Couple this with more contact and we could make a nice jump.

I know I'm a broken record, but the Sox simply don't draft and develop near well enough to regenerate the young players that will be required for these pitchers like Detmers. I could see it if there were 4 years of control, but. not 2.

We will be glad we have Carlson when his time comes. We are clogged in the MI upper minors and ML team. When that all thins out, we'll have him ready. he has a ton of potential. Yea 1 pitcher probably would have won the Cle series; but who's to say that we would have even gotten that? Cubs traded their #1 guy for someone who couldn't make the postseason roster.. We could have also gotten that 1 pitcher with a better use of the pieces we did trade. July trades for buyers are tough propositions. On another matter, Bonemer will probably be ready out of the spring, at least on offense.

While they K a lot, they also take a lot of walks. Seems that it wouldn't me insurmountable to shift some of the thinking of the current roster to more contact instead of swinging for the fences. Colson absolutely must do that, or he'll end up as an infielder Palka. This sub .300 obp stuff is ridiculous

Davis is better than Richards. He has some skills that perhaps can be further developed. They need to sign a starter...there are several mid-tier FA starters available. Trading for veteran starting pitchers is a losing proposition. The Sox made a terrible buy in July...but it wasn't just the Sox - most of the buys were bad. Last Offseason -Gore, Baz. Yuk. And the Sox history this century has largely been abysmal when trading for staring pitching. The ones we've traded away have been good; perhaps that's the answer. Draft better or trade for others' young pitxhers and keep them.

I guess this pitching format helped our constant bullpen approach. But it also helped Cleveland: they can throw their top 2 in games 1, 2, 4 and 5, all with 4 days rest.

This is why you need a whole lot of pieces and building blocks; also why not to ship them off for veterans, rents, 1 year wonders. Peters' may not hit as well next year as this year, but as long as his D continues, we're good.

Yea, the brass seems to think Pham is capable (thus he's on the roster). And really if the game had been on the line, Antonacci might have had that ball; diving for it just wasn't worth the risk in that situation - good judgment. f

The only reason Burke gave up a hit at all was because Peters wasn't playing left as he should be in late innings. Pham just isn't a good enough hitter, imo, to warrant weaker defense in the latter innings.

Surprised that Kay is starting; he's handled leverage well in his 2 outings. Now they'll have to use someone less-tested or who wasn't pitching well last time we saw them. I would have guessed Newcomb - hasn't pitched well, but can be overcome early. I guess Hudson is the closer.

They could get a haul; and if the Sox still figure Taylor as a reliever, they probably should go get that haul. But hopefully, Taylor starts dominates. It would be great if H Smith could do the same; but I haven't seen anything about him that suggests starter (under the definition of giving you at least 5 innings, but preferably 6+)

Taylor should be the ace of the rotation next year. They could trade for a young pitcher; but the prices are usually inflated. No rents; no Phillies castoffs - none of that sort of thing.

Hire the guy who is calling the games in this series. And let Stone retire. I thought Blum was more insightful and objective than Stone.
